Daestra gives a quick smile to Ireena “Well.. if we ever get out of this place I will be sure to show you our beautiful kingdom.”

Salem listened as everyone spoke. Even though there were so many here and it wasn't something he was used to... This felt less chaotic than home. With Mordred asking him what he liked to do it made him realize how little he had told the man about himself. He had really hid a lot of things about himself. Wanting to keep a distance and yet he hadn't been able to do that. His heart had just went out to the people of this village... Well not just the village... The valley and if he could help them he would. It was just difficult. He had been trying to appease his father as well as be himself. It was difficult and he felt that he could barely be who he really was without his father finding out. Even now he worries a little bit. His eyes for a moment flickered to Ireena. Would he be angry with him for being around her? Jealous? It wasn't like he had any real interest in her. Giving a slight shake of his head he looked back to Mordred realizing he hadn't answered yet. The people may not be exhausting him, but all of the things he had learned today had definitely emotionally exhausted him.
"I am afraid I am a little boring Mordred. Sorry you never knew. I really like reading. I think I study more than anything else. I mean I read for fun too... I tried to get into sword fighting, but that's not for me. Can barely hold a damned blade."
He looks towards Lucian. He had heard that the dusk elves once knew a technique of fighting with weapons and being spell casters. It had made him even more curious about elves... The only reason he had heard about this though was because he had been told they were cowardly. He frowned faintly. Not even Rahadin had known how the style worked. That was a bit disappointing. He had a feeling Lucian might not know it either. He turned his attention away from Lucian and looked to Mordred. Maybe he should stop trying. He was doing much too much work to try and be like his father. A man who he felt could do it all so effortlessly.
"I enjoy listening to the bard at the castle. He plays beautiful music. I have to hide when I listen to him play though... Even though he usually can spot me. I have one mom that I can study with, but she's kinda serious. I have another mom that is really strong and I suppose most would call her beautiful... Oh I shouldn't say it that way... She is very lovely... She's the one I talk to the most. She's a great mom. Taught me to be refined... And then... There's one that kind of... let me get away with everything as a child. She'd break things and wanted me to break things with her... I liked studying magic with my father..."
He trailed off a bit and sighed softly. Everything eventually would return back to his father. It was hard not to mention that. His father was the one that helped him study the most about magic. Was the one that celebrated with him when he had learned his first few cantrips and spells.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mordred and Ireena listen to Lucian for a moment as Ireena chuckles a bit.
Nothing wrong with a good meal!
Mordred looks to Ravna and Daestra with a light smile.
I'm not sure if I can that's what makes it interesting I suppose. Guide to vampires you say? I remember Doru let us borrow that book before.. I thought I had lost it before.
Ireena looks to Daestra with a smile.
That sounds great! And I wanna watch you're match. I enjoy sword fighting myself but.. I'm still practicing.
Mordred heads out into the backyard, using the blunt end of his blade along with a shield as he prepares for Ravna and Daestra to come outside.

OOC Mordred's initiative! But if they'd rather make me an athletic's or Acrobatics check for how well they do in training I'd do that as well.
Lucian, still recovering from his embarrassment, looks to Salem as the damphir begins speaking of... moms? He has multiple moms? Having just one mother would be good enough for Lucian, but the whole concept of having more than one is just strange.
"How many mothers do you have?!"he blurts out. As soon as the words leave his mouth his face turns a deep reddish color and he sinks further into his chair. "I... I mean... sorry... was that rude? I just... I guess I knew about uh..." Well, it is pretty common knowledge that Strahd has multiple wives. The thought is rather disturbing really, but thinking about it in terms of Salem having multiple mothers... well it just gets weirder. Does he even know which one is his birth mom?
As these thoughts run through his head, he locks his eyes on his plate. Good grief, this just keeps getting more and more awkward. In a vain attempt to shove aside his previous question he says, "I... I don't think you're boring Salem. I would like to read too. I... well I can't read all that well but I would like to. I just have never had access to books really...."Well, admitting he struggles with reading is also kind of embarrassing, but it's something he can't really hide either, plus as an urchin it shouldn't come as a surprise. He can read, but he's really really slow at it. "I don't think I'd like sword fighting either. Kasimir let me try once but... I'm not really comfortable with it. I'm faster with my hands..." That or he'd rather be chucking knives from a distance. The further away from a fight he is the better.
As Mordred, Ravna and Daestra head out back, Lucian waits to see what Salem and Ireena do. When Ireena expresses interest in watching, Lucian wonders if watching would be good for him. ...it probably would be a good thing to see how skilled his new companions are. Not that he hasn't seen Ravna in action before. Its hard to go anywhere without some sort of encounter along the road, but he hasn't seen her struggle against anything or anyone yet so... Ugh, just thinking about fighting stresses him out, even though he's not the one doing it. And Mordred thinks fighting them both together will be interesting?! Lucian will never understand people who like fighting, even if it's just sparing.
He stands up but pauses and looks to Salem rather than following the others, "Are... you going to watch?"
(I feel like we should stick with the rolls just because I don't want to have a super long combat session during which the other two will be doing mostly nothing lol.)
Ravna comes in strong, she almost over turns and throws Mordred over. His face flushes and turns red before he grabs her under her stomach lifting her up and slamming down with a grapple. Her armor and muscle served as excellent padding however. Mordred gets a bit into the rough housing he even smiles and when he does it more so reveals he is certainly just a young man. Late teens or early twenties more likely. However the moment doesn't last long as his face flushes white and than red once more. He releases Ravna and looks away from her with a light tint of pink on his face.
"I'm really sorry.. I should have held back.. Truth is I couldn't hold back you were close to throwing me over. I shouldn't have.. Uhm.. Grappled you I.. I apologize."
Ireena who had decided to come outside laughs a bit watching Mordred step all over his own words.

Wis yes as that is willpower but Int or Cha wouldn't make sense lol.
In a narrative sense Mordred is doing the same with Ravna and Daestra learning their strength's and weakness's as well.
Daestra shows a lithe footwork but it isn't long before Mordred wraps his arm around Daestra into a grapple. It's not exactly a restraint but it is a solid grapple. Mordred chuckles and looks to Daestra.
"You are light and quick my friend. Though I am sure you are merely tired, I imagine you can even be quicker if given the right circumstance."
OOC Oh Dastra did roll my bad! Daestra can only learn 1 stat sadly the poor dice weren't nice to him lol.
With that they can go to bed if ya want and for the solid Roleplaying on everyone. Everyone can have a heroic inspiration to use for a future reroll ^^
Daestra is quickly grabbed a hold of by Mordred “Wow I didn’t expect to lose to you that fast!” as Daestra chuckles a bit “You might be right my friend, I am quite exhausted from our day maybe I should get some rest, thanks again for the sparring Mordred!” Daestra shakes his hand and heads inside to get ready for bed.

His AC will be fine with me, and yes that die roll sucked haha
Ravna braces against Mordred's grapple, even she feels the rush of adrenaline as the friendly battle progresses. However, in the end her strength fails. She is a woman after all, brute strength will never be what wins her battles. Especially against a man of similar stature. Her battles are one by finesse, tactics, and knowing the weaknesses of the human body. She gives Mordred an almost wry smile. "Do not apologize, you know how to use your strength in a fight, and I would not have enjoyed this sparring session had you held back. I prefer a challenge, and a challenge is what you gave. Mark my words though. This was a close match, next time the odds might be in my favor." She nods at Daestra, "Or in his. Though hand to hand, or close combat does not seem to be your primary skill."
(Strength and Dex would make the most sense for her to figure out I think.)
Salem looked over to Lucian and a smile came over his lips for a moment. Talking about his mothers was much easier for him.
"Well lets see. I believe I have five technically. Escher is rather new and I don't call him mother or act like he's a mother... He's so new and he's a man. If anything he's supposed to be a new father, but... Never mind."
He didn't know if he wanted to admit that. His father already looked like a bad person... Which Salem was slowly starting to open his eyes to those kind of things, but he wasn't going to add to it. Yet part of him felt bad for Escher and he realized now why the bard liked his attention so much... Or at least he thought he was figuring it out.
"I don't think its rude at all. I like to talk about my moms and of course I like to talk about Escher too. My father does have a lot of wives... And a husband now that was new... I am not sure why he has so many it doesn't make much sense to me... One of them he barely pays attention to anymore and another... She's not been around for a long time until recently..."
He frowns lightly and tilts his head slightly at Lucian as he talks about wanting to be able to read. The vampling's eyes light up.
"I wish I could show you the library at the castle. There are so many books there. If we find any along the way I can teach you to read better if you would like. I could teach you from my book, but a lot of it is arcane and it would be a lot of magical nonsense to you I think."
He liked the idea of helping Lucian learn to read better if he wanted. Salem could feel himself wanting to put his trust in Lucian. To befriend him. He had been sitting here thinking of himself as possibly another monster raised in his father's footsteps, but someone interested in sharing stuff about themselves with him made him feel pretty included. Like he wasn't something dangerous. At the talk about Kasimir he seemed to look more interested.
"I have been told some elves knew how to sword fight and cast spells. It made for really interesting wizards back in the day... If I could be like that... I would like to meet Kasimir someday."
Seeing Lucian get up Salem stood as well. Until Lucian had spoken to him he had been thinking of retiring, but now he felt like it was a good idea to join him outside. He couldn't just close himself off just because of some missteps. He had to be able to gain their trust. He also had to learn to trust. Leaving Doru alive had meant a lot to him. Even if it made things come out that shouldn't have.
"Sure I'll come too."
Maybe it was a smart thing to see how they all fought though he worried they might think he was watching for his own benefit or his father's. He didn't plan on telling his father a damned thing about any of them though. He hadn't even told him that he was making friends in the village or helping it. Though he was sure his father already knew he was helping. Couldn't always kill every wolf and bat. He followed after Lucian outside to watch them test their skills.
Mordred pants with a small smile as Salem and Lucian come out. Salem appeared a bit lighter.. Mordred offered him a wave as he offered a hand to Daestra and Ravna. He looks to Ravna with a soft smile.
"You're strong and I am sure you're divine magic makes you even stronger. And Daestra.. I can tell you're normally quick.. Very quick. I think we'll be fine on the roads together. I have rooms ready for everyone. I have two spare guest rooms you guys can split between."
OOC Lucian and Salem can have an inspiration for the good roleplay!
When the party is done RP'ing they may rest and timeskip to the morning whenever they are ready <3
Lucian's eyebrows go up at the mention of another father... That seems... well... huh... How many parents can one person have? The whole concept seems wrong, but Salem seems okay with it. Probably cause that's how he was raised.
He grows slightly uncomfortable when Salem says he doesn't understand why Strahd has so many wives. Lucian... well, he thinks he understands but he's not going to voice his opinion. He wants to be friends with Salem, so trying to explain what he's heard about... well, that, would probably not be the best idea.
At the mention of a library and learning to read however, Lucian brightens again, "R...really? Y...you'd do that?" He stammers, fidgeting before saying, "Th...thanks! I would really really like that." He gives a nervous but wide smile, "I don't mind if I don't understand what your book is talking about. Anything helps right? A...and... well, I don't know anything about magic but it would be cool to learn! Even if it's not something I c...could ever actually... uh... use." He sincerely doubts that he has what it takes to actually cast spells, but he would like to try. Plus, maybe there is a spell that could help him with his.... uh... predicament.
"Oh... uh....um..."he fumbles a little when Salem brings up elven wizards. "Y...yeah... I guess... I... uh..."Bringing up the dusk elves has left him kind of flustered for some reason, "Oh, I would love to introduce all of you to Kasimir. I'm sure he'd like to meet you."He rubs the back of his neck, giving an awkward chuckle. Surely Kasimir would accept Salem. After all he accepted Lucian even after knowing his secret. Sure, Salem might be the son of the very person they are trying to... uh.... kill, but he doesn't seem like a bad guy. Lucian actually feels like he understands him, at least to an extent... well, the multiple moms thing will always be strange to him but the other part... about feeling like an outcast and the rest. ...well, Lucian can relate. "I'm sure he'd love to try teaching you some swordsmanship... I think he gave up on trying to convince me to keep training." He laughs, then moves to watch the match.
He is impressed by the show of skill by all three of his companions. Mordred wasn't joking when he said he could take them both on. Maybe... it wouldn't be a bad idea to train with him sometime. The thought makes Lucian grimace. He really doesn't want to know what would happen if Mordred had put him in a grapple. But still, he's going to have to learn how to fight against different people eventually, his training with Kasimir and Vilmar will only get him so far.
Once the match is over and Mordred mentions being fine on the roads together, Lucian's expression falls. He looks... guilty for some reason, like there is something he wants to say but is afraid to say it. He swallows, glancing from Mordred to Salem, and then to the others. Letting out a long breath, he somewhat manages to smooth out his expression and tries to find his excitement about the rooms again.
"I've never slept in a real bed before," he blurts, clearly more than a little excited about the concept of a soft mattress. The idea of sharing a room doesn't seem to bother him at all. Sure, elves don't really 'sleep' but that doesn't mean he can't appreciate a nice place to lay down.
Once they decide on rooms, Lucian flops onto his bed with an expression of pure joy plastered onto his face. If he didn't look like a child before, now his youth shows through. "It really is squishy," he murmurs. "Way more comfortable than hay or... dirt... or the top of a bolder..." he jolts, realizing that he was talking aloud. Then looks around the room hoping he isn't upsetting his roommates.
With a nervous smile, he spreads out on the bed and does his best to fall into a trance... for some reason all he can dream about tonight is stew and floating books with weird arcane letters scrawled across the pages. Eventually the two things combine into alphabet soup...
Salem looked to Mordred as they stepped outside. He seen him wave and he offered a small almost shy wave back. Something about being around so many people made him nervous. He looked back to Lucian. He smiled.
”Sure we can look through my book if you want to. I don’t mind.”
Even if he couldn’t learn or understand the magic he felt like sharing with him would still be nice. His eyes brightened as he spoke about the elves again. He didn’t know if he even had the knack for sword skills, but the thought of being around dusk elves made him happy. A thought did occur to him though. Would the dusk elves truly want to meet him. He was the son of the lord…
He dismissed such thoughts and let his eyes move to watch the match as well.
“I really can’t wait to meet other dusk elves. I think if they are all like you… We will get along.”
He found that Lucian’s presence made him feel at ease out here and the thought of the other dusk elves not liking him faded for now.
He headed up to the rooms as well once everyone was ready to retire. He looked among the group curiously. They had a lady among them. He wondered how two rooms were specifically going to be split up. Not that it mattered either way to him. He just feared making anyone uncomfortable. The thought of Ireena covering her neck and backing away from him made him sigh softly.
Either way they would be sharing a room with a man that had fangs. Would he be trusted he wondered.
After a night of training and talking, they also have time to read Van Ricktens book if they desire to do so.
They all awaken with a buttery sweet smell wafting in the air, the smell of breakfast. A grand smell in the desolate village of Barovia but for Daestra it's hardly a meal that would rival his greatest meals in life before. It certainly smelled a decent countryside village breakfast at least.
OOC They had two rooms to share with the night before so they can decide how they want.
If Ravna got her own guest room and the 3 guys shared a room or if it was 2 and 2 is up to you all.
My post was so small but I wanted to leave it up to you all on how the night was spent and how they wake up ^^
Daestra struggled to get to sleep initially as he was not used to a bed such as this, while his bed wasn’t much nicer it was his and he found it to be a weird experience. As he lay there trying to fall asleep he couldn’t help but to think about the battle ahead, was he truly ready for it? He truly had no idea what to expect of Strahd, he had never fought anyone of this caliber before and was slightly nervous at the thought of it all. But he trusts in the strength of his new companions to help him get through it, nonetheless there is no room to back down from the challenge ahead. Daestra falls asleep, surprisingly getting more rest than he expected but maybe not as much as he would’ve wanted. He sighs for a moment before getting up and heading downstairs.
He sees Mordred and Ireena(And the others if they are already downstairs) and can smell the wonderful breakfast that is cooking. “Good Morning! Whatever is cooking smells pretty wonderful, Mordred and Ireena, I can’t thank you enough for all the hospitality”
Daestra sits down at the table and waits for breakfast.

Also waiting on Salem but I have a question.
DnD 2024 rules came out and a lot of classes (Even Paladin which I was afraid the smite nerf killed but it got so many other buffs.)
If anyone wants to switch to the new ruleset they can but anyone can keep the old classes if they wish.
As for other general mechanics we can try them out or stay to the same.

A lot of PC classes are a lot stronger now but it's also super new so I understand staying with what everyone knows.
I have changed at my IRl table and we all love it so far but I understand we like different things.

Lucian and Salem can have an inspiration for the good roleplay!
"Oh... uh....um..." he fumbles a little when Salem brings up elven wizards. "Y...yeah... I guess... I... uh..." Bringing up the dusk elves has left him kind of flustered for some reason, "Oh, I would love to introduce all of you to Kasimir. I'm sure he'd like to meet you." He rubs the back of his neck, giving an awkward chuckle.
OOC: Ooh inspiration! :D
Ravna nods to Mordred and bids everyone goodnight before heading to her chosen room.
(I'm good to timeskip)

Also good with timeskip when you’re ready

They had two rooms to share with the night before so they can decide how they want.
