Beshlog, looking around, notices something behind him. Despite having been walking for minutes, he sees the door they entered from only 50 feet away. he takes a step backwards, towards the door, but the hallway seems to stretch, putting him at the same length away from the door as he was before. He takes another step, and another, but the same thing happens.
His discovery is interrupted as Artan asks him a question. And come to think of it, Beshlog doesn't know the answer. Why isn't he on these pictures? Something nags at the back of his mind, some locked away memory.
I need Beshlog to make a CHA check.

Kordia takes off her backpack and kneels so she can rummage in her pack. Pulling out a bulging pouch, she begins sending a small metal ball rolling down the hallway. Counting under her breath, she keeps sending ball bearings down the hallway and observes what happens.
Not happy with what her ball bearings show (or not show), Kordia backs up 10 feet from the beginning of the 'picture gallery hallway.' "WIsh me luck." She sprints forward; attempting a long jump with a body tuck flourish and spin in the hopes of gaining every inch of distance.
{game log} Athletics: 19 +7 = 26
For all the effort, Kordia still only progressed between two and three body lengths forward through the air before touching down. Catching her breath, she will gauge the distance to the other end of the hallway before her.
Artan will cast guidance (which I keep forgetting I have) on whoever is next going to attempt anything. (Every further check we do can roll a d4 provided they aren't happening simultaneously and provided that whoever is making an attempt can vocalise they are doing something for Artan to know. For example, Kordia athletics could have been guidanced. But the Cha check for Beshlog would not make sense).
Also (as a note to Raccoon too), I just noticed/remembered that with my staff I can cast Pass without trace at will. But as it also requires concentration, it can't be simultaneously with guidance. So we are probably passing without trace 99% of the time, but occasionally Artan will offer guidance and once it is used, recast pass without trace.
Ember's magic does not reveal anything. Though I believe See Invisibility lasts for 1 hour, so we shall see if anything else pops up.
Kordia tries to roll the ball bearings down the hall, towards the door, and they do. They hit the door and stop rolling. But when she tries to leap, she finds she has jumped the distance, but when she looks back, she see's the door is still the same distance away as it was before. The rest of the party is now halfway between her and the door, at least to the Drow's eyes.
Beshlog:
You remember something. A pain on your neck. Something sharp pressing on your skin. Then the pain is gone, and you feel a hand clapping you on the back, and a male voice saying "Well done. Now you are one of us" You remember your best friend standing next to you, whose name was...what was it? I think it started with an S? Salem? Silas? Then, memories of an intense pain filling your head returning. The feeling of being strapped to a stone table. The silent crying of your best friend as he cracks open your skull and messes with your brain. You remember what he whispers in your ear before you fall unconscious "To me, you'll always be one of us. You'll always be my friend"
Got it, Swift. Will keep that in mind.

As Artan steps forward - eyes wide shut - Kordia will relay what she has discovered concerning her ball bearing test and her leap test. "Must be some mind games thing. Too bad no one can bamf (teleport) with a rope to the other end of the hall."
Frustrated but still thinking of some means to foil this new annoyance, Kordia will look about at the paintings near her. Why impaled in that particular manner? She tilts her head as she contemplates the various methods of death.
Beshlog will keep his mouth shut for the moment, not sure what he was remembering.
"I can teleport short distances,"the giant says thoughtfully, trying to judge how long the hallway is. "I'm not sure it will really make a difference if this is some kind of warped reality where space can change, though."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Flax chips into the conversation. "Yeah all my magics are focused around combat. Unless you need someone to be unable to lie, I guess I can do that too. But how often is that ever useful."

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
Artan tries walking with his eyes closed, and almost runs into a wall. Thankfully, he rights himself and continues walking. After opening his eyes, he looks and sees that certain paintings (assuming he is using the paintings to help him gauge location in a long hall otherwise devoid of landmarks besides the door you came through) are closer than they were. He has done it. He has moved! He looks back to shout to his friends, and sees that they are standing right there behind him. And yet he's somehow closer to the supposed end of the hall. What is going on?
Beshlog looks down the hallway, and sees it leads off into the gloom, out of the range of the torchlight and the other party members darkvision. No one can see the other end.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Artan will try two different tactics. The first one is sit down. Rather than try and get to the end, he will wait for the end to get to him.... Or something like that.
The other thing he does is watch our 'friend' (whose name escapes me while writing this. And I'm on mobile so if I leave this page to find it, I'll lose the message so far) to see how they are reacting to this hallway. (insight check: 19 (guessing a modifier. Will confirm)

Kordia notes Beshlog's body language and movements. Whispering, she calls to him, "Is there a problem up there?"
"My guess is that whom or what ever is behind the wants to divide us." Says Ember.

Beshlog just looks befuddled. (Charisma check: 19 in game log)
"I'm more curious why pictures of you folks ARE here than why I'm not," he said. "Oh, good luck, Kordia."

"Guys, I've got “Protection from Evil and Good” and “See Invisible”. You think either would help this?” Ember says.
Kordia shrugs ... "We are whistling in the dark here. Try something and see what sticks to the tavern wall?"

"Alright. I'll try "Protection from Good & Evil". It allows another save against mind control, so maybe this counts."
16
(Wis save = 4 on sheet. Not enough for the d4 to make a difference)
"Well, that didn't do much. Maybe "Detect Invisibility" will do something."
(she casts it)

Kordia nods agreement with Beshlog, "No sense wasting a talent if it fizzles... like my epic leap."
Her eyes follow Artan closely as he moves forward down the hallway.
