The King takes the stone gingerly from you, his hands somewhat shaking. The crowd is almost completely silent as he brings it up to his lips, "My son? My son are you there? Why do these people talk so of a battle. Surely not. You wouldn't... would you?"
The crowd is silent still, obviously as you've explained, they should not be waiting for a response. Yet they are still. After a few minutes, when the crowd starts to mutter again, someone climactically, and King Ivaran slumps back into his seat, losing some of his Elvish youthfulness...
Then with a start you all hear a woman's voice you don't recognise , stern and croaky, her throat sounding full of straw. "King Ivaran! I know of Lukian's folly, yet I still attack Kholias. Join me in the battle we once swore to fight together... decades ago!"
The crowd erupts with chatter and shocked talk. Two words seem to be making their way around the amassed crowd like a wildfire, "The Scarecrow." These people clearly thought the Wood Elf general dead.
What do you say to the King in this somewhat chaotic moment?
