Pisgah pulls the rings off the magicians fingers then collects the pearl from the decomposing pouch. Holding the rings and pearl in his left hand, he takes the glass wand and asks Nikk, "Do you think you can use this?"
To the rest of the group, "Could anyone make use of a pearl or a couple of silver rings?"
Quite unexpectedly, Canti holds her ground as the torrent of water is released from the room. (19 in game log) She places her back against the wall and leans into the wave. Once the flood has passed, she looks like a drown rat, but she grins and says, "Woo! That was some bath." Licking her lips, she frowns. "Yuck. Saltwater." She follows Ardnek into the room to have a look at the source of the water.
Arcana? 10 in game log (of course, something she's supposed to be good at)
Canti can conclude that the water is certainly being created magically, given that this wall is adjacent to another corridor, but the exact procedure remains a mystery.
OOC: I had missed a lot of posts when I posted Rico guarding the door, I was responding to when the door was about to be opened, not when the room was flooded. Sorry about that.
Rico will collect anything that isn't claimed by someone else. But to start with, she's interested in the pipe or stick buried in the wall. If that can be removed and controlled, they might have a source of fresh water.
Rico comes to the same conclusion as Canti, that the water is created magically. This stick seems enchanted to dispense water forever, a strange magic item. Removing it from the wall doesn't stop the water flow.
[While Rico and Canti don't manage to figure out just how it works immediately, you can either spend a short rest to do so, or use identify if someone has it available.]
Pisgah deposits the pearl and silver rings in his belt pouch and walks into the room where the water is flowing. Hearing Canti and Rico talking about pulling the magic stick from the wall he walks over and offers to pull it from the wall. "If you want, I can pull this from the wall and carry it out to the other room so the water will flow down the hallway while you check around the room for other interesting things."
If they agree, Pisgah will pull the stick from the wall and will take it out to the other room and crack open the east door where he will let the water flow out into the hallway while the rest of the group investigates.
Pisgah has no issues pulling the rod out of the wall. Upon close inspection, it is similarly decorated as the glass wand that the dead wizard had on them, but the material here seems much more sturdy, a sort of metal alloy. It happily continues to dispense water out of the door.
Pisgah will take the stick to the east door and let the water begin draining from the stick into the east hallway while everyone else looks over the room. Pisgah makes a note as he walks across the room with the metal tube spewing water, "This tube looks an awful lot like the glass wand. Could the two be connected somehow? Does one control the other or do they somehow fit together?"
Rico says, "It will take me a while to figure out how to turn this off. But I think having a source of fresh water on demand is worth the wait. But since i don't need water anyway, I'll leave it up to the rest of you if you think it's worth the time."
"It's not fresh," Canti says to Rico. "It's salt water." She makes a face, wondering if this really needs to be said, then decides to go ahead and say it. "We fleshy folks can't drink salt water. It isn't healthy. There's ways to make salt water drinkable, but it takes a while. I suppose it would be helpful in desperate times, but I hope we don't get that down on our luck."
Rico responds, "There may be a setting that can produce fresh water, or possibly even other liquids. I won't know for sure until I figure out how this thing works..."
The kenku examines the glass wand, a curious relic. While the others examine the water and collect various baubles, he examines the tool for any minute intricacies. He's still a fledgling in knowledge, an old bird in a wizard's world he is wholly unused to. Nevertheless, he tries his best to recall any and all he can, in hopes that his own inherent knowledge might surmise the origin of the wand, and a clue to its purpose in this spectacle.
Nikkitch recognized the wave patterns and abstract glyphs on the side of the wand as being in a complex dialect of primordial: aquan. It's distant but close enough to the bildfolk dialect that the wizard is used to that Nikkitch can guess as to what a pronunciation may be, even if the meaning of the words are lost.
The wizard of course knows that most magical items are created to respond to specific words of command. He ties a couple of increasingly strange and tongue twisting utterances, when the wand suddenly ceases to dispense water. It seems like Nikkitch is onto something.
[Nikkitch now knows the command word for stopping the wand. You can experiment with it further during play, using arcana, investigation or history, or use a short rest to gain full knowledge of it.]
Pisgah is standing at the east door letting the water from the tube flow out into the hallway. He hears Nikkitch making some odd noises but doesn't think much of it based on the speech patterns of the wizard when the water suddenly stops flowing. Pisgah turns around, closing the door behind him, and asks "Was that you? Awesome job figuring out how to shut off the water. This trick might could come in handy. You should probably take the tube too and study them as a set, when we stop to rest. We could do that now if people wanted to. Spend an hour or so to figure out this wand. I would like to look over the skull that we found. I think there may be something about it as well that may come in handy."
Rico says, "Thanks Nikk! We can figure out how to turn it on and what the different settings are latter. Or maybe we should do it now since this area is already flooded, that way we won't get our camp wet if we activate a high volume flow of water."
Rico will take a quick look at the skull next.
Arcana 12
Rico isn't doing too well figuring out magic today...
The skull still humms faintly with the magical enchantment that allowed it to remain undissolved, but Rico doesn't find any other practical use for the thing. Perhaps the skull was some magicians' sick joke, or the remains of a particularly curious individual.
Pisgah walks over to Rico and points to the skull as he asks, "Rico, may I take a look at the skull of our departed friend here?"
Assuming Rico hands over the skull, Pisgah will look for anything that may tell the story of what happened to him/her. He will sit down against a wall and hold the skull as he talks to the skull in Dwarvish, "What happened to you my friend that you would be caught by that ooze and not lose your head? What is your story? I would that you could tell us what brought you here and what you may know of this place? Well, not to fret, there is an alter to Dumathoin down below. When we next pass that way, I will leave you to rest with him."
Does looking at the skull give Pisgah any information?

ArdneK is not in a rush. He has visions of filling his vessel with 3 feet of water and having a perpetual bath.
