Canti would not know what that is, although she would have heard stories of weird and abnormal creatures in the depths from the adventures of Garl Glittergold. The udnerdark is known to house all sorts of monsters that would be completely alien to surface dwellers.
" It was like a great big floating eyeball with like 10 other eyeballs on long stalks coming off of the big one. I don't know what it is but i think it was with the Xanathar thugs drillingin the other room. I still wonder if we can throw the Xanathar thugs at Yek's gang if we enlist the help of the wererats. I'm not sure how to find them though."
"Wow," Canti says, still speaking quietly. She wonders if Bwibble has ever heard or even seen such a creature. It sounds fantastical. She hopes to see one herself one day.
You know that the guild was trying to recruit him, and he has no qualms about sharing his "abilities", he would happily share that he knows Thieves Cant.
"Well I can speak the language of dragons of course, being, basically one myself. I know a few words in Terran because of my Patron, but I have a long way to go before I would say I know that one. Yeah thats about it I think."
"Oh, there are some communication skills you learn when working with others who, themselves work in the shadows and let's say, the fringes of the law. It's more of an art then a language, but I guess you could it a language. Perhaps some of those in the guild down here may know it also."
The kenku speaks up quite plainly. "They. Are. Vicious." He cocks his head in thought, though ultimately shakes it again in dismissal. "In. Regard to. Their. Actual. Power. However, I. Do. Not. Remember. What. They. Are. Capable of."
Nikkitch doesn't remember much, but he would know that beholders have their own, weird, sort of magic. People who dared stand up against the Xanathar were variously said to be petrified, reduced to ash, mind controlled or simply thrown out of a window by an unseen force.
As we reach the corners of the hallway, Pisgah will peek around the corner to peer south and if that is clear then will do the same at the corner where the hallway turns to the west again.
PERCEPTION rolls of 14 (first corner) and 12 (second corner)
Pisgah looks around a corner, then another one, another one. Then another one. The hallway just continues on, without anything barring your way. Not a sound is to be heard. The navigationally minded among you (especially Pisgah with his excellent memory for such things) are suspecting that you're almost back to the wall of bones you had seen before.
Just as it seems that the hallway just won't end, Pisgah hears the clanking of metal ahead.
Around the following corner, you still can't really see anything (because of the limits on darkvision), but you hear the clanking of metal against stone clearly now. Something, multiple things, are making a lot of noise. It sounds like they're throwing around a piece of iron, letting it bounce of the walls and floor.
Pisgah can suspect that it's maybe three creatures. They're making a chitterling sound not dissimilar to insects.
The creatures probably haven't suspected your presence yet, as the metal clanking continues unabated.
Pisgah tries using the ear horn to determine exactly how many or what type of creature(s) may be ahead, (PERCEPTION roll of 12), but can only guess there are three somethings ahead.
"There seems to be a group of something ahead. My guess is three. I'm not sure what that clanking is. ArdneK, if you want, the two of us can try to get closer and see if we can identify what is up there."
Does Canti know what a beholder is? 10 in campaign log

As the party heads to the west and heads to the next hallway leading south, Pisgah takes a peek around the corner to look down the south passage.
PERCEPTION roll of 15
Canti walks practically on Pisgah's heels. "What, again, did this creature look like?" she whispers.
"It did not look like anything from this world. Let's head on down this hallway and see what we can find. "
OOC: Do we know that ArdneK is a rogue? And follow-up question, do we know that he would know Thieves Cant?
You know that the guild was trying to recruit him, and he has no qualms about sharing his "abilities", he would happily share that he knows Thieves Cant.
"Hey, new guy," Canti says apropos of nothing, "you wouldn't happen to know any other languages besides Common, would you?"
"Well I can speak the language of dragons of course, being, basically one myself. I know a few words in Terran because of my Patron, but I have a long way to go before I would say I know that one. Yeah thats about it I think."

Rico comments, "It sounds like a beholder, and no, they are not from this world."
"Are they more dangerous than the thugs Xanathar is using? It seemed to be more of a sentry watching over members going through training drills. "
The kenku speaks up quite plainly. "They. Are. Vicious." He cocks his head in thought, though ultimately shakes it again in dismissal. "In. Regard to. Their. Actual. Power. However, I. Do. Not. Remember. What. They. Are. Capable of."

"I'm not sure what the thing is, but if its a symbol for the guild, I would assume it's pretty powerful" is all ArdneK can add.

ArdneK follows Pisgah, creeping along the other wall. He is wondering why Pisgah is so loud, wondering why he is not sneaking!
