Seeing no wording or anything that stands out in the room, Pisgah moves on through the room to the door on the west wall. He pulls out the ear horn and listens. PERCEPTION roll of 19.
The knock echoes within, as if in a fairly large room. There is a distant moaning gurgle, but it fades away instead of coming closer. Then it's quiet again.
Six stone vats, arranged in two rows of three, dominate this 20-foot-high room. A double door in the west wall has stacks of old barrels on both sides of it. The doors are painted with images of two dwarves in profile, facing each other while standing on sideways barrels.
Each vat is a hollow, slightly bulging stone cylinder 10 feet high and 10 feet in diameter, with 6-inch-thick walls. Each has a narrow set of metal stairs and a copper spigot attached to the outside.
A low moan is still audible from the northwest vat [circled red]. It sounds like something is inside.
All vats except the one that Pisgah now looks into are empty, though they clearly all once held alcohol. This one though, something lies at the bottom. There are limbs and heads and torsos, all intermixed in a horrible goop. This is the thing giving off the stench, and it seems to move occasionally. It doesn't seem aware of Pisgah, being in a sort of sleep-like state.
It looks a bit like what you would get if you threw multiple bodies in a soup and reduced it for a few weeks, except worse.
"Okay, ArdneK how about you light these 5 torches, give me the acid and one lit torch, once all the torches are burning, I can dump the acid and drop a torch. Then you and Canti throw your torches in. I will stay here with my sword drawn and beat down anything that tries to crawl out."

There is no sound to be heard, but a rotten smell makes its way through the door. Could be alcoholic residue, or could be worse.
Does Pisgah get a sense of what may be causing the smell?
SURVIVAL roll of 17
NATURE roll of 2 on a Nat 1
Either way, Pisgah backs away from the door and alerts the others to the smell.
Pisgah suspects that the smell is being given off by a rotting corpse, or multiple. It's also mixed with the sour smell of old ale.
"Folks, I think there are dead bodies behind this door. Don't know if they are truly dead or undead. Thoughts?"
"We came this far down the hallway, I say we check. Perhaps knock on the door, make some noise, see if anything stirs first?" ArdneK says.
Pisgah steps back to the door and knocks on the door "is there any one in there? The taps have run empty out here."
Rico stops investigating the tap piller and takes position to cover the door, with Steel in front of her.

"There is moaning in there. Maybe someone is still alive? I'll open the door."
Pisgah will push open the door and step back 5 feet with his shield up.
The door opens and a foul stench rolls out.

If Pisgah can fit up the narrow stairs he will climb to the top and look in the vat.

"I have a vial of acid if we want to drop it in there in an attempt to put it out of it's misery. Or we can burn it if anyone has oil?"
Do the moans sound like a humanoid?
"I don't have any oil but I do have some torches. I don't know if we can light several and throw them in on top of the acid. What would that do?"
"I think we should try, whatever it is in there is probably long past due."

Not sure what to roll for this
Somewhat, although the throats producing the moans don't have much resemblance with humanoids anymore.
[I don't think there is a significant element of chance here, so no roll needed.]
