Pisgahs javelin sinks into the mass, sticking out of it and clearly bothering it somewhat, as it quivers in response. (DM notes that I don't have a fumble table, nothing bad happens on a nat1 attack).
Nikkitchs sparking attack does distract the creature enough for it to miss the window where it could have attacked the kenku, but any damage the lighning could have done is absorbed by whatever material this thing is made out of.
It's slow movements also cause it to shamble directly into Jayas breath attack, having some of its form being ripped away. However, as the dragonborn tries to slice it with his sword, the weapon slips right through the jelly, carving a path that closes immediately after. In addition the opening releases a spray of acid, dealing 4 acid damage to Jaya. Upon slipping back out of the creature, his sword is sizzling, the acid eating away at the material. The longsword now has a permanent -1 on damage rolls.
Cantis arrows tear into the creature, dealing damage as normal. The brambles are winding around its surface, enveloping it and biting into the form.
All of Ricos and Steels attacks hit, pummeling the animated blob.
All projectiles hitting the monster are being dissolved in its acid and destroyed.
The jelly tears itself out of Cantis brambles, seemingly slicing apart its own body. A part of the monster remains trapped in these brambles, but an equal sized lump separates itself and acts much like the first. There are two now!
One throws itself at Steel, the other at Jaya. To Hit Steel: 23, Damage: 6 bludgeoning, 21 acid To Hit Jaya: 7, Damage: 9 bludgeoning, 19 acid

Rico tries to remember any previous encounters with black oozing creatures, or anything she's heard about them: Nature 13
Rico certainly knows about the existence of oozes and their prevalence in dark dungeon areas. There are several types of these creatures, but she hasn't heard of ones that are able to split themselves into separate creatures.
@DM: Canti moved 25 feet to the left (west) last turn.
Canti moves another 10 feet to put her back against the western wall. Nikk's call to encourage everyone to skedaddle finally gives her a chance to try Bwibble's exploding arrow. She reaches into her quiver and attempts to grab a regular arrow and one special arrow.
Canti will wait and attack AFTER Nikk fires off his fireball. If one or more of the creatures are still alive ...
Attack 1 aimed at the original ooze: 10 Damage: 10
If that attack hits and more than one ooze is still alive, arcane shot: bursting arrow (Immediately after the arrow hits a creature, the target and all other creatures within 10 ft. of it take 3 force damage each.)
If an ooze is still standing ...
Attack 2 aimed at the original ooze or the secondary ooze if the first is down: 19 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
If the first attack missed, and there are more than one ooze still alive, the bursting arrow is applied to this attack instead of the first.
As Pisgah, Canti and Rico all send projectiles into the oozes they begin to sputter and lose cohesion. One of them splatters to the ground before Canti needs to use a bursting arrow. The one remaining ooze tries to throw itself at Steel as the machine moves away.
To hit Steel: 11, Damage: 5 bludgeoning, 17 acid
The remaining blob tries to split again, but in that moment everyone has moved out of range of the fireball and the wizard gets his chance.
DM: I'm assuming that Nikkitch releases the ready-ied fireball now, as the spell slot is already spent? Not sure how best to do effects of readied spells, but it's probably best to roll them in advance and be quite specific with the trigger.
Combat is likely over after the fireball, barring a terrible roll, so I'm waiting for the damage roll from BoldHand.

[Well actually, both 2nd level slots were burned out before the short rest. I used a trait to restore one, which I'll be using here.]
DM: I meant taking the ready spends the spell slot - until his turn comes up Nikkitch is then simply holding the energies of a spell back that he has already cast. If you were aware of this interaction already, ignore this side tangent. Just wanted to clarify.
The fireball collides with the wall, the statue and the strange ooze monster. With a bright fiery explosion, the monster is destroyed, ripped into tiny shreds. All that remains are lumps of black acidic material strewn about the floor. The stench of sulfur wafts over those present. After the noise of small chunks of stone raining down upon the floor has subsided, the room becomes quiet once more.
The statue that was previously coated by the ooze now looks like all it's companions in this hall: fallen apart.
Initiative Over
You all gain an additional 250 XP for defeating the ooze.

I didn't mention it in the post, but could Steel have used disengage so he doesn't get attacked? He did NOT make an attack that round or do any other actions other than moving. Otherwise Steel is destroyed (only has 3 HP left). Well until Rico rebuilds him the next day...

That is reasonable. In this case, the ooze did not take a reaction.
"Does it seem odd to anyone else that there are no other entrances or exits to this room? You would think there would be something. Could it be hidden? "
Pisgah will start looking being the eleven statues to look for a secret area.
Nikkitch begins picking amongst the rubble, careful not to touch the bubbling remains of the ooze. He was hoping to collect a smaller sample with his second bottle, so he begins wracking his brain for a means to neutralize some of the sample's acidity. Barring that, he scans the floor for potential trinkets thrown free by his fireball.
Nature: Nikkitch can assume that the tools contained within any alchemist's supplies would suffice to safely store some of the acidic samples permanently. Temporarly, any glass container should be enough, provided the material isn't stored too long therein (24 hours).
Perception: The statue smashed by the fireball seems to have contained an unusual mix of stones. Some look quite a bit darker and less porous. [Nature 14]: Nikkitch can't be sure of the exact properties, but these smooth black stone chips (up to 20 lbs may be collected) may be useful to a crafter, potentially in creating protective equipment.
Pisgah is able to retrieve the two javelins that missed the ooze. Both are undamaged. (DM: as ranged weapons rather than ammunition, you can assume that you can retrieve javelins undamaged unless specified otherwise).
Edwina-cantilla cautiously joins Nikk in the examination of the ooze. She is saddened to see (but not surprised) that both arrows are being slowly dissolved. She observes Nikk attempting to collect some of the ooze and fishes out a glass container from her alchemist's supplies. "Here you go," she says to Nikk, offering the container. "Bwibble would love this," she says, smiling. "He mostly works with crystals, but this acid creature is fascinating."

OOC: Probably doesn't know much if anything...
Nikkitch calls out, Durnan's voice booming from his beak.
"Back away. Everyone. Now!"
He moves back further and begins readying Fireball...
[He'll give all the good little boys and girls the chance to beat feet beforehe fires.]
Rico certainly knows about the existence of oozes and their prevalence in dark dungeon areas. There are several types of these creatures, but she hasn't heard of ones that are able to split themselves into separate creatures.
OOC: My original post crossed with Rico and Nikk's...if it is okay, I'll change my positioning.
Pisgah will move 8 squares directly north. The attacks will be against the ooze to the east of Steel.
Attack 1: Javelin attack roll of 20 with damage of 8 piercing
Attack 2: Javelin attack roll of 7 (on another nat 1)........
Pisgah roars with frustration as the second javelin skips off the floor.

Pisgah carefully examines the wall, but he doesn't find anything out of order. Seems like this is another dead end.

Barring that, he scans the floor for potential trinkets thrown free by his fireball.
