The puppet becomes more agitated as Pisgah approaches, fuming: "Trespassers! Bandits! Thugs! A thousand magical missiles upon your head! I shan't be disturbed from my work!"
Pisgah looks back at Rico, Canti, and Nikk and shrugs. He begins to look around the room but will be ready to run if an alarm is raised by any of the three magic users.
Pisgah & anyone else that gives the room a look-over: There is plenty of furniture wreckage in this room, only the stone stable still being intact. It doesn't look like there is anything valuable here. You could salvage 16 wood scraps (0.5 lb each), 4 metal scraps (1 lb each), 4 parts (0.5 lb each) and 4 crystal vials (no weight) from this room, taking bits and pieces off the table and from the smashed furniture.
Nikkitch: Indeed, the mantle, although shoddily replicated, is clearly supposed to be a robe of eyes, a mantle that allows its wearer to see in all directions and even spot invisible creatures.
Rico: The room seems mundane, except for its sole occupant. The 'ingredients' on the table are nothing more than dried out common herbs and various common minerals worked into powder. It seems to you that, if decronstructed carefully, the puppet may yield magical components that you could use to your own ends. Although as it becomes furious whenever you get close and starts waving its arms wildly, it doesn't look like that would be straightforward.
Rico answers, "I might be able to use some of its parts if I need to rebuild Steel. There are many other materials in here I can use to make things, including keeping the archers supplied with arrows."
Rico comments, "One thing that is bothering me is that the doors are all barricaded on the inside. Which means the puppet did it. So either it was ordered to barricaded itself in here, or it has enough self awareness to want to be left alone. Let me examine it for a bit."
Rico will try interacting with the puppet to see if it shows any signs of being able to actually think on its own (a test Steel would fail), or if it just seems to be following some elaborate orders.
Arcana 28 (nat 20)
OOC: If it shows any signs of actual sentience she's inclined to leave everything in this room alone, otherwise it's all salvage. She makes a distinction between constructs like herself that can think and feel, and those like Steel that can just follow orders. Even if it's sentience is limited, she would not want to kill it since it isn't hostile.
The puppet reacts to Rico much the same way it did before, although using new elaborate curses. "Scram! Go away! Flung into eternal limbo, pulverized, disintegrated!" Rico [Arcana]: This construct doesn't seem to be reacting to anyone in the party specifically. It doesn't tailor its curses to anything it sees or respond to anything except proximity. You're fairly sure it has been preprogrammed with a large library of intimidating phrases and limited responses, based on preset triggers.
The kenku, out of an overabundance of caution, retreats to the doorway and takes partial cover behind the wall.
It could be nothing, it could be a centralized fireball, it could be a beholder. He'd rather not test it, tantalizing as that robe would be if genuine.
The puppet frantically tries to shoo Pisgah away, but doesn't actually manage to stop him, the gangly limbs bouncing harmlessly off the genasi. You're able to collect the vials.
It looks like the puppet is quite fragile. Pisgah can try an athleticsorsleight of hand check (pick one) to pick up the vials without harming the puppet. Below a 13, the puppet breaks its two arms by trying to pummel the barbarian in a frenzied rage, shrieking: "Abominable geas! Triple curses! Shrink into a fly and be consumed by a troglodyte!"
As Pisgah's hand scoops up the four vials, he feels something like two broom sticks begin to slap against his back. The sound of two sharp slaps can be heard clearly in the room with the sound of snapping branches following as the puppets arms drop limply to its side.
"Sorry Rico. I didn't mean to cause any damage. I guess the puppet never heard of 'Sticks and stones may break my bones....'. Ah, well. Do you think we could splint the broken arms with some of the wood scraps?"
Rico [Tinker's Tools¹: 18]: With precision application of your tools towards the sensitive parts of the puppet that still hold it together, Rico is successful in disabling this weird construct. The voice cries one last time “Auugh! Now who will find the cure to filth fever?!”, before the puppet becomes inert.
Within the puppets chest cavity, Rico finds a alchemist's fire (flask) that seemed primed to shatter if the pupped were to be damaged further. You could remove the flask and the primary magic source without issue: a puppet heart (1 lb.) (counts as an uncommon essence for crafting). There are multiple fine parts in the joints and digits of the puppet that seem useable: Rico could extract 4 fancy parts (0.5 lbs each). The puppets 'brain', as it were, a knot of different threads of yarn that have been jumbled up, seems mundane now that the puppet has been deactivated.
The eyes of the puppet are painted marble spheres. The mantle that Nikkitch recognized as a robe of eyes replica is just that: a mundane robe with a fancy stiching pattern.
¹Due to both proficiency with arcana and tinker's tools, advantage (as outlined in XGtE), using DEX as base ability score as it's a situation that calls for precise and quick movements over a more methodical approach. Took the liberty of adding a custom skill to Ricos character sheet in order to roll this check, feel free to remove it.
OOC: While Rico is proficient with tinkers tools, she wasn't able to afford them with the money she had on her when she was stranded (starting money), so she's been making do with theive's tools till she can upgrade. Does that affect the above?
DM: Ah, that's fine. We could just assume that Rico used the class feature The Right Tool for the Job when you took a short rest before to produce a set of tinkers tools? If you already used that feature to produce a different set of tools, we'll just say it works this once with thieve's tools.
Seeing Rico dismantle the puppet, "Well, I guess that is that." and shrugs before wandering out of the room and standing just at the end of the corridor leading into the pump room.

Investigation roll of 12
The kenku is the first to speak up:
"The. Man. This... Thing. Is. Based. On. Was. Notorious. For. His. Unorthodox. Research. He. May. Have. Rigged. This. Creature. Don't. Assume. Anything."
He wonders about the eyes on the cloak. Is that...? [Arcana: 24]
Rico also investigates, though her attention is on the wizard construct.
