As both Pisgah and Nikk have examined and listen to the door carefully and found nothing out of the orginary, Pisgah opens the door. The room beyond is small, 10 by 10 feet wide, nearly featureless.
You see a ghostly apparition here: An elven man with adventurer's gear, a large backpack and a broken shield strapped to his left arm. He is cowering on the floor, seemingly in fear of something. Occasionally he glances around, wordlessly shouts or screams something, then goes back to cowering. You can see the stone walls through the adventurers form and he doesn't react to you at all.
After a minute, the vision fades out. Canti, Nikk and Rico, thanks to their arcane training, recognize a lower level illusion spell, although the source or cause is nowhere to be seen.
Jaya carefully examines the ceiling, but the spiders stubbornly remain normal sized and studiously ignore you.
Rico comment, "I wonder if that illusion was trying to hide something. Or is it trap for whoever tries to help?" Rico will enter the room warily (with Steel shining light from outside), on the alert for both traps and something hidden. Perception 15, Investigation 19
Rico thoroughly examines the room, but the illusion has left no trace and it doesn't seem to contain anything else. Either this was some sort of natural phenomenon, or there are higher magic powers at work.
If no one objects, Pisgah crosses the hall of statues to the north door and takes listen with the horn. Perception roll of 22. If he hears nothing he will ask Nikk to check for traps and if the door is clear, will open it. If he hears anything, he will tell the others and see what they want to do before opening.
Nikkitch enters the illusory room. He shuts the door behind him and examines the entire room for clues of a magical nature, even the inside of the door.
Pisgah: No sound is to be heard from behind the northern door.
Nikk: Two tiny spiders watch on as Nikkitch thoroughly examines the room. There is no hint of any magical source to be found. The inside of the wooden door is just as its outside, old but sturdy.
The Kenku chuckles in the corpse's voice, musing about the other spider having it's revenge, then pockets the tiny spider carcass. Using his staff, he tries to knock the other one off its web, angling an empty glass bottle beneath it.
Nikk: You successfully trap the spider in the glass bottle.
Pisgah: Finding nothing suspicious, Pisgah opens the door. The initial room you see is empty. There is a corridor in the back that starts gradually sloping down around 20 feet to a second room.
The second room’s domed ceiling is 15 feet high at the edges and 30 feet high in the middle. The dome is filled with sizzling acid that defies gravity as it floats 15 feet above the floor. An 8-foot-tall statue of a four-armed fish monster stands in the middle of the room, facing north. Its webbed hands clutch an ornate, 1-foot-square stone box.
Pisgah approaches the edge of the room, seeing the acid and hearing it sizzle as it floats in the air, he looks down at the floor to try and find any sort of pressure plates which may trigger if someone approaches the fish statue. Investigation roll of 17.
He also wants to try gauging the volume of acid floating in the air. If it were to drop to the floor, how far up the sloped corridor would the acid reach? A straight Intelligence check of 11. (Not sure if this would be an Intelligence ability check or if it would be an Investigation skill check)
Pisgah asks "Does anyone have an idea to get the stone box without taking a swim in acid?"
Nikkitch hears Pisgah's inquiry as he bottles his new captive. Scurrying into this new corridor, he eyes the walls headed into the domed chamber. Seeing the layout, he begins by scanning the floor, looking for pressure plates. That acid is going to fall somehow. First is to consider how.
The floor plates are old and cracked, not looking like they would be suitable as pressure plates. No other triggers seem apparent either to both Pisgah and Nikk.
Pisgah: Intelligence sounds about right for estimating the consequences of dropping the acid, but since it pertains to avoiding an unusual hazard, Pisgah can leverage his howledge of survival tactics here as well (resulting in a check of 14).¹ He's fairly sure that, if the acid were to fall suddenly, the splash would reach up to 20 feet out of the room with the statue, with the acid ending up filling 5 feet of the room.
Nikk: The craftsmanship on the statue is exquisite. Perhaps a bit too much so. This being a summoned or petrified creature isn't out of the question. In addition, the box could probably be lifted upwards out of the statues grasp without breaking it, if enough strength were applied.
As you're examining all of this closer, you also see that the box has a keyhole on the underside.
Jaya is going to send a telepathic message to the statue / creature in the hopes that it maybe able to understand him and to see if he can gauge any sort of reaction when he does so.
Jaya follows the group towards the door, keeping an eye on the webs overhead still. Investigation Natural 20!

Rico reports back, "Does not seem to be anything here. Perhaps it was just a magic memory... Where to next?"
" there is another room on the north side of the statue hall and one on the south side. After that, it is the magic trapped double doors."
"How about the north door, south door, and the 'something big is behind them doors?"

The spider falls to the ground tragically, dead.

Jaya is going to send a telepathic message to the statue / creature in the hopes that it maybe able to understand him and to see if he can gauge any sort of reaction when he does so.
Perception: 9
I’ll send the message “I’m going to count to three and drop the acid into the room, you may want to move out of the way!”
I also want to look at the box and see if I think I could lift it from the statue’s arms if I was flying.

Nikkitch turns to the Genasi. In Durnan's voice, he asks, "Who is. Stronger? You. Or the. Dragonborn?"
"It saddens me to admit it but I believe that Jaya is the stronger. Why? What are you thinking?"
