Canti walks slowly around the harpsicord, ducking where helpful, standing on her tiptoes at other times to inspect the instrument. "This is incredible," she says appreciably. She can't help herself. When she reaches the keyboard, she reaches out and presses one of the bone keys.
A self-playing instrument? Or perhaps an Unseen Servant? The kenku examines it thoroughly, though it's doubtful to be too important. Maybe it's an enchanted puzzle or a trap.
Pisgha can make out the entire notation on the wall, yet there are no hidden parts to it. It is simply a piece of music. Jayas message is only answered with more music, the same notes the harpsichord has been playing up until now.
Rico, Nikk and Cani inspect the instrument. As you get within 10 feet of it, it stops playing music, almost like it's waiting for something. It only starts again once you have all moved away. As Canti presses one of the keys, she feels a prickling in her fingers. It is as if the instrument doesn't want to let her go. Yet you can just about jank it away without anything happening. Canti feels for a moment what it must be like to be an instrument and to not have been played for so long. It feels sad, lonely. Then the feeling passes.
Nikk realizes that the instrument may well be enchanted - this seems like some sort of elaborate use of necromancy. This type of trickery is usually reserved for some sort of sadistic end. There may well be a reward for figuring it out - but also a price to pay.
Rico tries to figure out the notation [Investigation: 7], but without having practiced music it seems fairly counterintuitive and she's not quite sure which notes would go where.
DM: I'm therefore assuming that Rico doesn't play, so I guess the characters are all spared a mediocre performance. 😁
Canti is both sad for the instrument and also scared of it. As the others try to play the tune, she bites her lip, imaging what she might could do if one of them appears to be taken in by the harpsicord and unable to escape its hold. She continues to rub the finger that touched the instrument as she rehearses one scenario after another.
The harpsichord pauses its performance for a moment, as if to listen to Pisgah. But then it resumes, unimpressed.
Pisgah clears his throat, says "Excuse me, I had a frog in my throat.", and tries to hum the tune again.

"But I guess you still aren't impressed?"
He will then check along the north wall looking to see if the inscription is hiding anything.

Rico is also fascinated by the hapsicord, and joins Canti in examining it.
OOC: how much game time has elapsed since we came down from the Yawning Portal?
OOC: Between 4 and 5 hours from the number of torches Steel has gone though (first torch was someone else's).
Jaya will send a telekinetic message to the harpsichord, mostly just to test for sentience.
Play the next song please.

The kenku relays as much, but follows through with a question. "Would anyone. Like. To. Play?"
" Pretty sure someone would need to play that tune from the wall but I don't think I want to try it. "
Rico takes a look at the tune to see if she can understand the notation.
OOC: Only if she can read the music...
Rico speaks up, "I will give it a try. Although I do not have much experience playing interments."
OOC; This is a job for a Bard! But do everything Rico will try her best...
Rico's performance is mechanical and without emotion as she tries to hit the right notes with the right timing.

She does not do very well at this...

Indeed, if she can't read the music, than she doesn't even try to play it.
"Can. Our. Cleric. Carry a. Tune?"
Halleth looks apologetic. "I'm afraid I never got the hang of the musical arts. Singing a prayer was already a challenge."
"OH alright. I can read the music. Let me try playing."
PERFORMANCE 5
Not to be left out, Jaya gives it a shot.

The Kenku sighs.
He steps into place and begins playing, though he's never once touched an instrument.
