Bards and rogues man. If my orc was on the aggressive side, we might have had a TPK in the Barons hall :D
I think we just spend our money and go back down regardless. Just Balen leads the charge or goes defusing landmines with a sledgehammer smh
hahah oh man! rip Balen he would be smushed. I'm thinking like Hulk vs. Loki style in the first Avengers movie (2012) except Balen would just be completely utterly squished
wait are we even allowed to go back down there or is it really a no-go? unless we be sneaky hehehe He would hit that landmine, then comedic timing for a few seconds, then explode.

@Miglasezis_ Please don't get us killed, I like Ichep xD He forbad us from going into the dungeon though, not just entering the sinkhole. I do not trust the chances here.
NoooOOOooo. You cannot discreetly cast! (except through Subtle Spell Sorcerer ability) And even if, we would immediately be suspected (and probably killed).
I love giant badgers. I remain firmly against going back down though but you can probably just peer pressure and convince Ichep.
I feel like Yaudara and Elf-wizard-whose-name-I-havent-memorized-yet might have a legit chance of talking us out of this. One is a paladin, generally held in high esteem, and the other one is a voice of reason that is not really "part" of us yet.

Felt like the baron's mind was made up. In time, maybe we'll win him over again.
@SunDial, some of the other PCs are going to undertake some downtime activities. Is there anything you would like Balen to do during this time?
@SunDial365 Sit in a corner and think about what you did :P
I joke of course. I kind of prodded you, so I take the blame too. Besides, imo, 50gp did sound like he was cheaping out to go after a murderous death cult.
I'm a bit confused though about why he would forbid us for going down there...I mean, it would be one thing to be like "if you go down there, I'm not sending people after you," but to forbid us from clearing the place out (hypothetically, for free on his part), would be better for him.

My character is chaotic good, and he honestly thinks the Baron is going on too much of a power trip. However, he also thinks that, having seen how Balon faired, he'd rather not chance it.
The Baron will need adventurers eventually, assuming that there are more cultists.
Also, I didn't see the turn of events until they happened. Again though, I don't think we had much of a choice to undo the damage. Baron has quite the ego and we attacked that.

Yep, you win some and lose some, especially at low levels. Yaudara's not in it for the money, so he wasn't going to argue, and if the cult's not gone, the Baron will need our help again soon. Or maybe we'll be on the other side of the world by then. Who knows?
I'm a bit confused though about why he would forbid us for going down there...
A large part of Balen's insulting tirade boiled down to "I'm surprised you didn't do this yourself, this is your responsibility, you have a duty to this town, etc." The insult was the accusation that he somehow failed to act, or somehow failed to do what needed to be done. The asking for more money part was secondary.
The baron's reaction to the insult was basically to bristle under the accusation of not doing it himself and deigning to hire it out with a "Fine, I'll do it myself!" kind of response.

Ok, ok will find other things to do. Toads would probably chicken out. He is a softie

Oh well, time to find money other ways.

Yaudara smoothed over our leaving quite nicely I thought. 100% professionalism.
And then Toads just looks angry and goes "Poopyheads"
And Toads would be right
Indeed. He did very well. The paladin having to be the one to handle things while the dysfunctional bunch cause chaos.
Cross our fingers and hope that we haven't completely screwed our chances of striking deals with the shop keepers.
