Are both survival rolls or is it more complex with this new system?
Nope. Just a Wisdom (Survival) check to navigate. One per day of travel.
There are forced march rules as well for hiking through the night ... but I didn't want to break your brains with all of the corner cases and niche events that will probably never come up.
[Basically, you can travel farther if you forgo rest, but then you risk exhaustion. Exhaustion, if you haven't dealt with it much in 5E can be nasty, nasty stuff. It is to be avoided.]
Taking a look at our Survival Modifiers, Toadstool (+5) and Rinn (+3) seem like the ones to take over navigating and foraging. Just gotta settle who does what. Personally I'd rather have food and be lost than be on track and hungry but those are lower desires speaking out of me.
@SunDial Icheps basic needs are warm meals, long baths, a soft bed and a good hair care routine.
ohhhh a mysterious elf in Ichep's life I see~ hmmm? *eyes emoji*
Imagine "Archie" pretending to remember joins the group to torment Ichep lol
Eh let's just use Yaudara's chain money. He did say it was fine to use it earlier so using less of it won't be an issue either. I don't wanna be stuck in organising and managing any longer when they are wilds waiting to kill us to be explored! Exciting adventure!
Just saw that notifications finally are working again. I read OOC and will read IC in a bit. Will do responses then too.
Was a long work day, but fun.
Also, yes, Rinn being an Outlander will come in handy. Thought it made sense for the story I had in mind, and is useful.
The fact that I brought up the idea likewise makes sense why I’d pay most. Plus, I got my shiny diamond from the party gold too, so this is me putting investing back into the party.
Foraging is not an issue, because Toads can make goodberries. I will keep one slot for that just in case.
And wilderness will be awesome.
We said we’d have plenty of healing too but then we had character death second encounter. Don’t bet against our dysfunctional bunch from finding some way to starve lol
Ok, that's over by were I work. Some of the best dining options are at Southlake, which is ~20 minutes northwest of DFW. There's a big shopping/dining center there that has several options in one spot. I'll look for some good recommendations tomorrow.
sorry that post took so long. I had to VIBE CHECK my own character hghghghg I based him way too much on my very angry angsty 14-year-old-self so much so that he's hard to write?!! he's also like a chihuahua and the changelings from my little pony when they (horribly) replaced the important ponies in to where and back again because I'm such a BIG BRONY okay
at this point instead of "this character lives in my head rent free" NO Balen will start having to pay me rent because he's so difficult and reminds me of me ugh
ANYWAYS YES WILDERNESS IS COOL

Though, honestly, Balen is going to have to come clean pretty quickly...otherwise, this act is going to get unsustainable.
Perhaps keep something on his person or some sorta signal that he could use to say "hey guys, it's me. Just play along."
Yeah he gotta I'm like not sure where I'm going with this. I want him to change out soon and honestly even he does not like his own disguise. I am guessing he at least would not want to change out in town because he doesn't like the speed of rumors/be seen by the baron, but I didn't know if we were gonna do an inn scene. but at some point yeah he's gonna be like "it's me y'all! surprise!"
If we do just skip to the wilderness scene. then he did tell them at the inn in a very dramatic way and feel free do make them awkward with each other after that because I LIKE TENSION
You know what yeah he'll just tell them. I can write that now
I honestly meant for his disguise to be just for the gathering rumors thing but it has dragged on a while *sweats* I'd rather just drop it, but narrative-wise I'm not sure how.... we'll see how this next post goes

I mean...Balen was a kuo-toa when they first met, and then he wasn't the next day at the Baron's manor. The fact that he can change form is almost certainly known among the party by this point. Otherwise, I would imagine that Ichep would have probably killed Balen with the other cultists in the first dungeon.
I think Rinn is probably going to be looking at Balen like, "Why are you going out of your way to disguise yourself from us?" He will then just tell him to use his energy for more productive manners, but threaten to give him a light bonk with his quarterstaff the next time.
Rinn was a wizard's apprentice at one point, so he gets playing around with whatever magical abilities Balen has. I think he'll likely want Balen to grow to use those powers more thoughtfully, rather than to just deceive everyone he meets.
He will likely view him as a kind of "apprentice" of sorts. Someone that has room to grow.
Balen (8gp), Ichep (6gp) and Rinn (11gp) had enough coin to purchase the map.
Since he paid the most, I added the map to Rinn's sheet.
The professor threw in a free map case as well when he saw you guys counting your pennies.

I see. I'll have Yaudara transfer 6 gp then to me "next time" we see each other, because Ichep would really not be comfortable being so poor

Finn is an outlander as well. Foraging is pretty much their thing.
a lesson Ichep should learn from my macroeconomics homework

also the pun
puns are the currency of my life
so um VIBE CHECK where do we go after the library? back to the inn? we don't have enough money for another stay ahhh

That's fine with me. Yaudara doesn't seek material riches. Torm will provide.

Rinn eyes Archie very suspiciously. His eyebrow has never been so arched...though he will accept his gold.

Also, since Rinn rested on the first day, he's going to swap out some prepared spells.
