The sound is quiet, but you all hear the clash of metal on metal following the sound of the explosion as Edgar's shot, whether by luck or some kind of mystical alignment of the stars, strikes true. The flittering orb falls to the ground several feet back from its last position, motionless.
You all pause for the briefest of seconds, taking in the meager though sweet moment of victory.
From behind you, you all hear the sound of clapping.
"Well, done! I expected it would take at least a couple of days for my first Snipe to go down!"
As you all turn, you see Viira standing there at the edge of the range with a satisfied smirk on her face, but you also see that she is not alone. Standing next to her, and clapping along with her, you see a tall figure, not particularly well muscled but not out of shape either, dressed in fine silk and wool garments with a handsome, long blue overcoat and stylish tricorne hat. The reaction from Dietrich and Jhessana is immediate.
"ATTENTION!" Dietrich bellows out as he quickly snaps into position himself, while Jhessana walks swiftly toward the new figure with a look of surprised shock on her face.
"Uncle Ty?! What's going on? I wasn't expecting you until this afternoon!"
Wide-eyed, Night stares along with the others in shock. As soon as it fades, however, Night bows his head, and mimes tipping a hat as if to shadow half-lidded eyes. Moments later, he starts at the new voice, but doesn't turn about to face it. Not immediately, at least. Instead, he tries to subtly begin reload the musket as he slowly goes to glance over his shoulder.
"Eh, wha--?" In spite of the confusion, Night instinctively scrambles to follow the order, though nearly drops the musket a few times in the effort. "S-sir! Yes, sir!" He completes the final motion with his head held high, hand at the ready, but weapon otherwise set to his side. While awaiting the next command, Night gives his fellow rifleman nervous sidelong glances.
Vayn holsters his pistol at once and swiftly positions himself next to Night trying his hardest to follow all of the instructions Dietrich has taught them over the last few tendays. In his peripheral vision he can see Night looking up and down the line as it forms but maintains his own straightahead gaze.
Phillandros looks down at the handaxe Night returned to him, nods at the Tabvaxi and rumbles "Thank you."
After Edgar hits the snipe he applauds the effort, then as Dietrich shouts, he slowly spins around to see who has garnered such a response and kind of lazily falls in to line with Night and Vayn, Hacknblast slung over his shoulder.

Edgar flails about trying to holster his gun and dagger. And then snaps to attention. All the adrenaline from hitting the snipe is gone. and replaced with anxiety for the inspection. Quickly edgar will wave his fingers while going to attention and cast prestidigitation to clean himself and his uniform from dirt and gunpowder.
Gimmur likewise falls in line with the rest of you after his momentary confusion about the new arrivals on the range.
As you all take your positions, some with more precision and discipline than others, it cuts a moderately impressive image. Your uniforms, still new, for the most part look crisp, and the majority of you do a good job of impressing with your posture. And the primary individual whose posture is a bit lackluster...is impressive in other ways, mostly due to his size and the ease with which he hefts his visibly weighty weapon.
A quiet conversation takes place between Jhessana and the man who is apparently her uncle, THE Lord Tylandar Roaringhorn, who bequeathed this property to Jhess and made forming the Knights of Thunder possible. The conversation continues for a few minutes, with LOTS of glances in your direction from both individuals.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Against his better judgement, after seeing that everyone was in line and 'relatively' in order, Night flicks and rotates his ears to try and overhear the conversation. But, well, without breaking the whole professional knight look.
As the conversation between Jhess and her uncle continues, Night tries his hardest to listen in, but the distance between where they are conversing and where you all fell in line is just a bit to far for him to make out any details. As best he can tell, Jhessana seems to be getting particularly excited about something, and before too long you all see her emphatically nodding to her uncle as the two shake hands, apparently having come to an accord of some kind.
After that, Tylandar takes a final look at you all and actually offers a short bow in your direction before turning and walking back towards the guildhall. Viira, likewise looking rather excited, exchanges a few words with Jhess before dashing off herself back towards her workshop. Once the both of them have left, Jhess makes her way back over to where you all stand with Dietrich.
"At ease, everyone," she declares before standing before you all with her arms behind her back, the grin on her face threatening to split it in half. "I've got some good news for you all. It's not exactly what some of you might have been hoping for, but we Knights of Thunder now have our first mission."
Night clicked his tongue, but offers nothing in the way of explanation if given any odd looks for it. Instead, and possibly in more hurried fashion if Dietrich took notice, he straightens up again to look every bit the professional as they awaited orders. "Rrreally?"Night asks, only clamp a hand over his mouth a second later. Realizing its probably already too late to take it back, he drop the hand to his side, and clears his throat. "I mean... Has it something to do with your uncle then? A sort offff honor guard sort of sortie?"

Settling in to a more relaxed stance Vayn can barely contain the smile breaking out at the prospect of some action. His fingers run gently over the grip of his pistol in anticipation. He smiles at the Phillandros' comment adding.
"Well, I wouldn't have minded one more shot, I was so close with the last one. Well done by the way" he adds looking over at Edgar "that was some shot!"

Jhessana nods her agreement with Vayn as she looks to Edgar. "Indeed, it was a great shot, even if it was mostly luck. Tymora was certainly smiling on you."
Then she looks to Night with an excited grin. "And yes actually, Night. That's exactly the sort of mission it is. My uncle is hosting a community celebration in the town square this evening, in honor of his sixty-third birthday, and it seems a number of the guards from Waterdeep that he was planning to have posted have been summoned back to the city for some matter, leaving him short-handed. After seeing you all in action this morning, in the near gear no less, he's asked if we can fill in."
"Very VISIBLE guard duty," Dietrich interjects gently with a look of dawning understanding. "Numerous noble families and wealthy merchants and traders who will be in attendance. If we can impress even a few of them tonight, then that will likely open more doors for further missions for the guild." He gives a satisfied smile and nod at the thought. "We'd actually be hard-pressed to find a better first task."
"And not just that," Jhessana continues with a smirk. "Uncle Ty is also in line to take over as Lord Warder of Amphail at the next Shieldmeet. Once that happens, he'll be responsible for the administration and defense of the whole town. If he's ALREADY impressed enough with you guys to hire us, then it's quite likely he's already thinking about ways he could use us, so long as we don't mess this up."
"Large public gathering of the rich folk? Seems like a fine opportunity to make some money.....err....uhh.....not that I would know. Best keep our eyes open." and Phillandros sort of shrugs a bit.

Edgar laughs, "thanks Vayn, but i think it was more or less just luck for me, i was honestly surprised i hit it."
Edgar looks down at his holstered pepperbox. "I'll get alot better the more i study them though."
