Eronclimbs aboard the Sea Ghost, his scale mail rattling, and turns to help the others. Though the light is dim at best, you can see details of the ship’s main deck. In the center, forward of the mast, a jolly boat is lashed to the deck with ropes. Aft of the mast is a hatch to the belowdecks area and a rope ladder climbing to a crow’s nest above. From the hatch, you can hear the sounds of crates and barrel's being moved about down in the hold, and someone shouting orders.
To fore and aft, below the upper decks, stand vague outlines of doors. You can also see ladders that lead to the upper decks, the aft one on the port side, the forward one on the starboard.
As he helps Faneover the side and Arlynnis next at the top of the ladder, he hears a blade being drawn behind him. Turning, he sees the burlier pirate with a longsword out.
"I know that armor, lad. Threk the Hobgoblin, Sanbalet's enforcer, took that armor off a Keoish sergeant-at-arms he'd slain in a duel. Never stopped showing it off. No chance in the Abyss he'd sell it or gamble it away." He raises the blade higher. "Now, throw those blades down on the deck and start speaking the truth. Who sent you, and what's become of Sanbalet's crew?"

Arlynnfollows up with a one-two punch. As her tentacle grasps the pirate on the main deck and hurls him into the dark waters below, her eldritch blast slams into the pirate on the forecastle, striking him in the chest. He collapses.
Eron, having parried the First Mate's attacks, now pivots and strikes with his own blades. Perhaps not expecting such a furious attack, the First Mate is caught off his guard. Both of Eron'sblades find vital organs, and the pirate falls to the deck, a look of shock frozen on his dying face. Eronthen storms the steps up onto the poop deck, crying for the captain to surrender.
The captain steps forward in the dim light, his movements calm and measured despite the chaos unfolding on his ship. His cutlass gleams, and his hand crossbow is cocked and ready, but his expression is maddeningly unperturbed—a crooked grin spreading across his weathered face as if this was all some jester's farce. He chuckles dryly, shaking his head. "Surrender? To the likes of you?" he drawls, his voice smooth and with a sharp edge of disdain. "Oh, mate, you must be new to these great blue waters if you think a man would give up his ship without a fight."
He raises the hand crossbow lazily, leveling it at the marine. "You’ve done well enough to cut down some of my crew—good lads, some. But I’m afraid this is where your luck runs out." Then he pulls the trigger.

Fane will enter her bladesong as an ancient Olven battle hymn fills her head. She will move up to the captain, her movements graceful, even on the rocking ship. She will stand opposite of Eron [if she can] and attack , as Leo flys by his head.
Fanestabs the Captain and he grimaces, though he looks more disappointed in failing to parry her blow, than in pain.
Then from one of the rooms below the stern deck, the muffled sound of arcane chanting rises, deep and rhythmic, punctuated by sharp, guttural syllables. The air on the deck grows heavy as the spell’s power coalesces, and a moment later, an unnatural fog bursts forth like a living thing, curling and climbing rapidly up through the grates and seams of the ship. The mist thickens into a dense sphere, swallowing portions of the main deck and poop deck, and shrouding the ship in a ghostly haze. Visibility drops to mere inches, and Faneand Eron find themselves blind to each other—and their foe.
The pirate captain’s voice cuts through the fog, cocky and carefree. "Well, now! Look'ee there. I'm afraid that on the Sea Ghost, lass, the odds are ever in my favor." His mocking laughter echoes from every direction, difficult to pinpoint.

The blue-haired half-elf peeks up at the foggy deck and groans, but with a quick incantation and a wave of her tentacle-shaped wand she sends strong gale across the main deck, hoping to clear away the fog but also to catch anyone standing there.
Cast Gust of Wind, Str save 15 or be pushed back 15 feet, possibly into the sea.
If any enemies become visible to her she immediately sends her spectral tentacle there to thrash at them.
As Arlynn's spell takes hold, a powerful gust tears across the deck, drilling a whirling tunnel through the fog. In the brief clarity of the whirlwind, a halfling wizard is revealed outside of his room—tattoos curling up his neck, his hood flapping wildly, and his parrot familiar screeching in alarm as they are both caught squarely in the gale.
STR: 2
With a startled yelp and a frantic grasp at the rail, the pirate deck wizard is blown off his feet, tumbling over the ship's edge. His parrot flutters and flaps, trying to stabilize, but it’s no use—the pair splash into the waves below, vanishing in the darkness of the nighttime sea.
Concentration: 5
The fog vanishes with them, the spell’s magic broken as the halfling wizard's concentration falters. The deck is now clear, and all eyes turn to the pirate captain, who stands exposed before his attackers. He takes in the scene with an exaggerated roll of his eyes and a heavy, theatrical sigh.
"Of course. Leave it to Punketah to make his grand exit at the first hint of trouble," he mutters dryly, adjusting his grip on his cutlass. His expression shifts to one of resigned amusement and he shrugs, as if to say, What can you do with such a crew?
Looking back at the fighters now closing in, he offers a crooked grin. "Well, I guess I'm all alone, now. Don’t expect me to make it as easy for you as that little windbag did." His stance widens, bracing for the clash to come.

He parries one of Eron's attacks, but the other blade strikes true again, drawing a fresh line of blood across the pirate captain’s arm. He staggers slightly, but instead of faltering, his grin grows wider—a grim, almost manic expression.

With that, he lunges forward, his cutlass carving a brutal arc that lands a punishing blow, overpowering Eron's guard. The clang of steel on mail echoes across the deck and Eron can feel blood under his armor.
But then, the Captain pivots with startling agility, his hand crossbow raised—not toward Eron, but toward the owl familiar, Leo, flying nearby. Without hesitation, he pulls the trigger.

Fanestabs the Captain twice, and blood begins to run down his arm, glistening the hand holding his cutlass.
Below, one of the doors under the forecastle creaks open and a tall, imposing lizardfolk warrior emerges. Its bronze shield gleams faintly in the starlight, and its bone armor rattles softly as it strides across the deck. A small, sinuous pseudodragon flutters at its side, its glowing eyes searching for a source of the commotion. The lizardfolk’s gaze follows the swirling tunnel of wind and snaps to the rope ladder where Arlynnclings, the night wind catching her cloak. It narrows its reptilian eyes and stomps purposefully toward her, raising its shield in one clawed hand while the other grips a spear.
"Who... disss-turb sssip?" it hisses, its voice speaking in broken Common. "Thessse weaponsss... Kess kraa! For my people. You... sssstay away!"
Its speech shifts to another language... a harsh snarl of guttural growls and hissing syllables. "Thross-kath hiss'rath saak! Kess kraa! Thralak!" It pauses between syllables, snapping its jaws for emphasis.
"You... delay?!" it growls, again in broken Common, eyes narrowing. "Klar'voth ssserath! I... make you... pay!" The lizardfolk lowers its spear, poised to strike, its tail lashing behind it in agitation. The pseudodragon lets out a sharp trill, its wings flaring as if ready to join the fray.
The captain, still locked in combat with the fighters on the main deck, glances down toward the lizardfolk. His tone is a mix of irritation and forced politeness, like a frazzled maître d' handling unruly guests. “Ah, Vyth, my esteemed guest!” he calls out, raising his voice over the din of battle. “Apologies for the… untidiness up here. Nothing to trouble yourself over, I assure you! ”
Then, as if something had just occurred to him, he continues, "On the other hand... Perhaps I could trouble you to lend a claw and encourage some of these interlopers to take a swim? There’s a good lad!”
The lizardfolk looks up toward the stern, then back down at Arlynn, spear still ready to strike.

She then ducks down into cover once more.
[Granting inspiration to Arlynn, both for her use of gust of wind and for choosing that spell in the first place.]

“Live to see tomorrow Captain, surrender.”
He parries one of Eron's attacks, but the other blade strikes true again, drawing a fresh line of blood across the pirate captain’s arm. He staggers slightly, but instead of faltering, his grin grows wider—a grim, almost manic expression.
"Still talkin' about surrender?" he growls with dark humor. He just shakes his head. "I've danced with Lady Death before, and I never let her lead."
The bolt whistles through the air and strikes true, the owl disappearing in a puff of magical energy. He doesn’t flinch or even glance at his target, his dark eyes fixed on his foes.
"Your pets, your friends, your lives—it’s all fair game now," he says with a voice as sharp as his blade, the grin never leaving his face, though the smile doesn't reach his eyes. "This dance doesn’t end until the music stops."
He readies himself once more, his defiance unshaken.

Fane stabs the Captain twice, and blood begins to run down his arm, glistening the hand holding his cutlass.
The lizardfolk’s gaze follows the swirling tunnel of wind and snaps to the rope ladder where Arlynn clings, the night wind catching her cloak.
