Darbakh, Ral and Petnan roll intimidation or persuasion.
dc 15 he surrenders
(Ooc. How do you get ability check to show in game log). I rolled a 12+5. (Chose to NOT use guidance as itâs concentration and would force me to drop hex).
On your character sheet you can click on the skill value to roll it.
Thanks. Thatâs what I eventually did. Just was not sure it showed up (just found the game log and saw that it did. Small wins).
(In character) âis it starting to get colder? Is the weather shifting.wondering if those clouds look like snow? Anyone else this this is weird this time of year to be getting colderâ.
Smudge to Ral, âplease secure this man. Remove his weapons and tie his hands behind him and feet in front of him. Hereâs my rope. Of course, just kill him if he is not cooperative.â
Smudge to the bandit, âyou know what we want - your treasure and knowledge. Think hard about what you tell us when we ask. And donât resist Ral here. He has had a bad day and might want to take it out on you.â
Smudge then casts Guidance and touches the rest of the party, saying under his breath, âDivine favor, show us the secrets.â
Once I finish casting detect magic I evaluate the pirates truthfulness (at least related to magic items in him and two sons).
(Ooc and then after Iâve evaluated the area, live pirate, dead pirates, and for good measure the party members in general for magic items . I then ask for help in doing insight check on pirate. (With guidance). And also a perception (with advantage and guidance ) on the area around us. Paying attention to any potential threats and for shelter areas Likely with the encroaching weather will need to get shelter up for the party +1. Also. Will need to figure out before itâs needed what do we do when we are attacked and have the pirate in our custody).
(Ooc if and when needed insight check on pirate to determine his intentions/honestly etc 9 and if appropriate with help/advantage 22
Perception roll 11 and since I have advantage naturally 24 (Nat 20 on roll plus modifiers)
In character
âthis unnatural weather does not brood well for us. Iâd suggest prepare for much-much colder with a shift this fast. Likely some spellcaster or fae is controlling the weather to soften us up.letâs not make it easy for them. â
Ooc when we switch out spells on long rest we just need to update the character sheet correct)
The bandit captain grumbles and says, "Alright alright, we were just told to try and waylay ya. Said we'd get some extra stuff for it. The person didn't give a name and talked from the shadows. They said to stall you for a bit but didn't say why."
The thugs' Heavy crossbows are magical as well as the bolts in both cases show magic.
The bandit captain has some couple prayer beads in his backpack you discover.....And two potions are in there as well.
You catch on that the Bandit is stalling with talking and showing you the stuff, he has...
The team figures out the weather. A hailstorm is coming, and it is possible that three of the four might not survive it. You grab his stuff and Smudge has figured out that if you head south, you'll avoid the majority of the hailstorm. The captian bolts to the north and laughs saying, "You are all doomed."

on a successful save take 2 damage.
Runok flies at 60 and is able to avoid the damage getting a little further ahead and finds an overhang to get under in time.
You travel a bit to find a place to rest. The temperature starts to warm back up and the clouds break up with the sun shining through. Up ahead is a small cave that is deserted. A place to get some much-needed rest.

Smudge is relatively fit and fast but his swearing at the bandit during the sprint cause him to arrive at the cave out of breath. He says one last âouch!â and â@$)&â as he gets under cover. (ooc: dex save 20+3=23, damage 2)
He casts a Light cantrip on a stone near the entrance of the cave. He picks up the stone and tosses it towards the back. Smudge had read stories of monsters in caves including troglodytes and hoped the light would allow them to see the back of the cave.
That done, he turns to the party and asks, âAnyone need some healing?â
âSmudge. After we all get healed up. Any chance you and I can inspect this cave together before we make camp. I fear abandoned things. Itâs as if the local creatures know not to be here. â
âDamn that pirate for running. At least we got his gear. I expect thatâs not the last we will see of good old capt hook. Betcha he will have found a few more of his sons on our next encounter. Iâm proficient with crossbows although I prefer the comfort of my magic. How about us selling these if no one wants them. Might put some more gold in our pockets.
âsmudge have you ever seen one of these before -pulls out his newly acquired prayer beads necklace with four beads on it. (Ooc blessing, curing, favor, and smite ) Once weâre comfortable that the cave is not dangerous would like to get your thoughts.â
âYes, I also want to study these beads. The library at home has mentioned these - the scholar Zanfros was very clear that removing a bead from the necklace would cause the bead to lose its power. Apparently, he learned this the hard way when examining the orc kingâs necklace. It is reported that that advice was the last thing he wrote in his tome on magical items before the rather displeased orc king separated his head from his body. But you are correct - first we should get a fire going and secure the cave.â

The weather is getting colder and colder. The temp is now closer to freezing as you chat with the bandit captain.
