Smudge is relatively fit and fast but his swearing at the bandit during the sprint cause him to arrive at the cave out of breath. He says one last “ouch!” and “@$)&” as he gets under cover. (ooc: dex save 20+3=23, damage 2)
He casts a Light cantrip on a stone near the entrance of the cave. He picks up the stone and tosses it towards the back. Smudge had read stories of monsters in caves including troglodytes and hoped the light would allow them to see the back of the cave.
That done, he turns to the party and asks, “Anyone need some healing?”
Ral says, "I am about 50% down in health, Smudge. Let's sell the heavy crossbows and bolts then."

I’m down some health (Ooc 6 Hp )
(Ooc with elves only needing four hours for equivalent of an 8 hr long rest. Am I able to have a short rest to regain warlock spells to heal up then take 4 hrs for a long rest while everyone else is taking long rest).

I do not have a problem with it. Some admins may be stricter though.

Smudge toddles over to Ral, Staff of Healing at the ready. “This shouldn’t hurt at all, in fact, it should feel good!” he says with a smile. He waves the wand with a flourish and gently touches Ral’s shoulder with it. He repeats this for a total of 3 touches until Ral is back to full health.

With the advantage of having a long rest coming up the party is interrupted just after getting into the cave.
While discussing you health issues and getting some light to see the layout of the cave, a portal opens up near the entrance behind you. Out steps a humaniod individual.
"Hello. My name is Pramend. I have a series of task that need to be taken care of. I'd do it myself, but I must attend more important matter. I will reward you most handsomely with coins, gems and items if you succeed." He holds up a hand expecting questions. "I will set you on a path that will ensure you find your way to the task you need to perform. I will be nearby once you complete the last of the challenges. I might...Have 4 additional challenges for you if you complete these next four adequately if you care to attempt them. The choice will be yours." A gold glow emits from Pramend that washes over you. You bag of holding seem to glow a bit longer afterwards and he steps back into the portal which disappears.

“Argh, I just realized I dropped my shield when fighting the bandits. Someone help me remember to fetch it in the morning, says Smudge just as the humanoid makes his appearance. “Well, I’d never,” he says in a low voice, clearly perplexed at people appearing and disappearing at a rapid rate.

I'm not that harsh...Anything dropped was picked up before leaving due to the hailstorm.

“I never thought I would meet a dragon in person but here we are. That was Pramend, an adult gold dragon. They have significant abilities close to their lair - the scrolls differ a bit about the exact distance but it is around 6 miles radius of the lair that they have extra abilities, like what we just witnessed. It is well known that dragons like to chat when they have the time but have little patience when occupied, so he must be really busy. I got the sense that he is bothered that others are intruding in his area and wants us to take care of it. This must be a positive sign that he holds us in favor, but I only trust my deity for favors and dragons can be fickle.”

"I am sorry, Petnan, that you have been treated poorly and ask your forgiveness if I have added to your isolation. Ral, you have wisdom in your words - we are clearly dealing with forces much stronger than us so must be cautious." Smudge's stutter and obnoxious know-it-all tone are both absent, the stutter because he is talking about subjects he is comfortable with and the tone because he has been humbled by the violent encounters so far. He digs through his bag and soon reports, "Hey, this is what Pramend left in my bag - four Scrolls of Remove Curse. I suspect these work similar to the spell, Remove Curse, which I believe removes the curse from one item. Did others receive gifts from Pramend?" Smudge is convinced that Pramend has assigned them a task and given them assistance to complete the task, thereby confirming Pramend being at worst neutral and at best supportive of their party. He gives a heartfelt prayer of thanks to Tymora before pulling out his normal scroll and ink to take notes about the busy day.
Darbakh remained quiet for the discussion, initially bothered by the portal. He briefly looked shocked by Smudge’s revelation as well, but quickly steels his expression. “Never heard of this Pramend person, but I know the tricks…I mean, skills of metallic dragons.” Darbakh’s words are chosen carefully, as if he’s hiding his true reaction. “I received items in by bag, too. It seems like, whether we like it or not, we’re working for this thing for now.”
(OOC: I missed the boat on the earlier rolls, so I won’t do them….le’ts say that Darbakh was daydreaming or something dumb like that )
“Well he did not die in vain, we have learned from him and now know not to mix and match beads”
Ral looks at Darbakh questioningly, "Uhh..It's the weather..."
Ral definitely is interested in why they'd not be aware of the weather.
