Sparhawk continues to attack waves of demons as he fighrs his way to the book. He attwmlts to close it, but finds the book resisting his effort, as the dwoemer gushes from the open pages like a geyser.
((I think he was saying that Tess was the one that was going to try to close it. I was going to attempt to close it with Task but wasn't sure if that would work to close it or not. I have my next post queued up as well, just need to know when it's my turn to go.))
The book starts to close as the paladin pits his weight into folding over the cover, but the libk to the hellmouth surges with power and forces the book open wide.
(( You can hold my turn until everyone else goes, I think just Gharzun needs to go now, right? ))
Tenebril feels the Drone of the Chasmes try to overcome him but he fights it off. This allows him to react just in time to get Shield off before another Chasme can drain him more. He knows without it boosting his defenses he would have been skewered for sure. The thought sends a shiver done his spine. He looks up at Tess and Sparhawk and yells, "CLOSE THE BOOK IF YOU CAN".
He then turns his attention back to the remaining Chasmes (3?). He quickly moves the Hex from the dead Chasme to the least injured one (if he can tell), and hits it with his eldritch blast, noticing they fear his attacks more than the rest. "They are either weak to my attacks or strong against most of the rest." Tenebril yells as he realizes they are trying to single him out.
After seeing Sparhawk almost success, he has a plan. He yells at Sparhawk, "I'll be right there to help."
Movement: Tenebril will try to get as close to Sparhawk as he can. (If he could hold his turn until after my next one I think we'll succeed on getting it closed.)
The droning hum fills the chamber, a psychic buzz that claws at the edges of thought. Gharzun feels it press against his mind like a weight, but he shakes it off instantly, eyes narrowing as the fiend’s influence shatters against his iron will.
“Pathetic,” he mutters under his breath, his shield snapping into position as another of the smaller demons lunges. Its claws scrape harmlessly across his plate mail, leaving nothing but a faint trail of sparks.
With a cold efficiency, Gharzun pivots and strikes. His hammer crashes down toward the creature, then swings back again in a brutal follow-through meant to crush its chittering form beneath divine steel.
If Kos could use Flash of Genius on Sparhawk and Guidance on him for Str checks, I think if I use Enlarge/Reduce or Polybrachia on him, we might get lucky with the Advantage to be able to close the book. That would be ADV with possible +8 to his str check. @Sparhaw, do you think that would work? I think if I did the math right, even if we roll 1 on Guidance, we should be able to get a 15 with ADV on that roll.
Kos will cast Guidance on Sparhawk and also be ready to use Flash of Genius if needed.
"It might work this time, at least it's worth a shot!"

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
The barrage if cubcentrated attacns splatter another bloodsucking fiend, as the unmistakabke aound if more furiously beating wings buzzes in the distance theough the cosmic rip. The remaining pair attack (1) Gharzun and (2) Tess

Chasme 1 x Gharzun 20
Chasme 2 x Tess 7
16 piercing and 21 necrotic each (and necrotic damage = max hp loss)
The Chasme's attack fails to oenetrate Tess' armor. Soeaking a divine word of radiance, she bursts with radiant energy, DC 18 Con save or 15 radiant damage to the demons close to her (stepping towards them as needed), and her spirit guardians continue their assault:
18 damage DC 18 save.
"Must... close the book.." she nods in approval at rhe plan.
(When its Sparhawks turn, he will have guidance, I believe, enlarge, and if needed, Kos's flash of genius) He will utter a prayer to Marduk and Afrial and again use his stubborn will and strength to close the book: 21+6 if I rolled it right).
Another of the tiny demons darts in, claws lashing wildly at his side—but Gharzun barely moves his feet. He angles his shield with a sharp clang, catching the strike and forcing the creature’s momentum away harmlessly. His gaze never leaves his foe, eyes cold and unflinching.
“Not fast enough,” he murmurs, stepping forward with a sudden, crushing swing of his hammer. The weapon arcs down at the demon, then he follows immediately with a second, lower strike aimed at breaking through its defenses and silencing it for good.
((Yeah, Tenebril will have used his turn to cast Enlarge on Sparhawk. You should be able to roll the str check with advantage BUT it looks like the first roll should have worked with everyone working together to help Sparhawk close the book.))
Tenebril drops his concentration on Hex and steps up to Sparhawk and casts Enlarge on him and then steps back as he starts to grow to large size.

Overhead, the tear in reality begins to cloae, slammimg shut just as another chasme tries to fly theough, its sharp proboscis, caught by the sportal.snapping shut, falls disembodied to the floor of the cave, a stream of thick brown fluid issuing from the severed mouthparts.
One of the demons falls to the gale of spirits defending their summoner. Two remain, trapped on this mortal coil. They are outnumbered, yet they hunger for blood.
Tenebril watches the proboscis splatter and clatter on the ground and then looks around to see what else's going on, now that the rift is closed. He's still trying to figure out exactly where he is and what's going on.
