If Deksi caught sight of Misery's purloined note, she would not say anything until out of sight of the hobgoblins, but then would be very interested in its contents.
"I saw what you did," Deksi will say when they are out in the clear. "I won't lecture you on the morality of what you have done, or on the danger you might have put us in had your slight of hand failed you; what I am interested in is simply this: what is laid out in that note?"
Since the hobgoblins did not appear hostile and had instead opened the gate, Maelyn stuffed the stolen note in her own pack and snuck back to a spot where she could emerge onto the road without arousing suspicion.
Once through, and out of hobgoblin earshot, she answered Deksi's query.
"Hey now, it's not like they're going to miss it... I think. I'd like to know what it says, too. Read it together?"
"Can you please give me a short version afterwards?" Yuwure asks, he's never been too much a person to hit the books, he always prefered first hand experience
Written in neat font the letter is in common. It reads:
Listen carefully, that twerp of an apprentice, Mattias escaped your cage. Do not be so bold as to assume I did not have knowledge of this. If anyone gets past the guards kill them. They were sent from Mattias. Listen to the imp guide I have given you. Don't fail me Blurg, you won't like your reward. ~Caelius
Az will listen in, or read the note is you present it to everyone.
"Hmm, it appears this imp is in league with Caelius. Which means that these hobgoblins might not be our allies. I think we should avoid this town and try to find these mushrooms they are in conflict with. "

Maelyn can't seem to decide if she's plussed about the note or not. "Not bad. I was kinda hoping for a library key, but... this is still as good a touch as ever I've seen, for a quick caper a'least.
Good call on the imp, Az, it seems you were right all along. So long as it's tickling Blurg's ear - did they say he was a bugbear? - I figure the whole kill them bit'll be aimed at us, which I don't love, if I'm being totally real. Prolly finding them mushroom-folk is as best an idea as any - enemy of my enemy being my friend and all.
Oh, and Deksi -- I never meant any disrespect. Cheers to your quick tongue getting us through all that untouched, waltzing through plain as day. What a charmer!"
Despite her idle chatter, Maelyn was still doing her part to keep alert for danger, or anything else forthcoming on the road ahead (or behind...)
Ahead of them the group saw a strange figure with a mushroom-like head, standing among five huge mushrooms at least 5 feet high each. The odd humanoid wore a buckler and gripped a sword, which they swung about haphazardly as if pretending to fight.
The mushroom man suddenly turned and sent a volley of spores down on Yuwure! After a few seconds however, they proved harmless. It was then that Yuwure could hear a voice in his mind.
~Who goes there!?~ Came a telepathic response. ~I've got a sword and I don't know how to use it!~ The voice sounded like it was trying to be threatening.

[OOC: if i know mycothins i should now be able to telepatically speak even if i don't know i can do it]
Yuwure looks stunned, the voice didn't seem to come from the shroom men but instead from his head, he still tryed to answer.
"We mean no harm here friend, we just want to help, your lands are being invaded by a demon, may you join our cause?"
Perception roll (to know if the voice is actually comming from the shroom and not from somewhere else, if he does understand that he kneels trying to show no harm): 18
~Huh? There's more of you...well I don't know about any sort of devil, but the goblins are a huuge problem!~ He said, waving his arms. ~Cortinarius might be hard to convince, he still thinks we have a chance...but I'm not sure.~
Calling his allies forward, Yuwure starts with Maelyn Thaliodel having gotten instrested in her antics in the library.
"May we present ourselves then, We'd be here to help with the goblin problem, and the other problems that trouble this plane"

If she can snag both the note and the gold without being seen, that's exactly what she'll do. If not... just the note.
She successfully snagged both.
Az is curious about the imp.
Would he know if imps and devils normally associate with one another? Religion 8
It's foggy, but he thinks that an Imp is a kind of devil.

Deksi turns to Misery. "Well, it looks like now is a good time to put your 'enemy of my enemy' theory to the test. Go hail the mushroom-man."
Yuwure seps forward "What are you my strange fellow? I have never seen anyone like you." he asks the being "ow, and hi!"
Note: he always walks with his staff in hand, so he's always ready if needed.

It definitely came from the shroom. The Mushroom man seemed a bit unnerved by the old turtle, but not threatened.
~Oh! My name is Gomphus! Sovereign Cortinarius will have to see you right away!~ He said excitedly.
"This are my alies, we are all here with the same goal, to stop the demon and save this world, may we all join or shall one go alone?"
[OOC: sorry for asking it this way but i feel it makes RP logic since it seemed so afraid initially]

Seems like greetings are in order. "Deksi, shaman of the Rothkik tribe." She bows her head slightly at the mushroom-man.
