"Well a'spore-me-up, then, and let's get the think on!"
~Maelyn Thaliodel at your service, or Misery if you're a friend! "Cases Solved with Arguable Efficiency," which I think I made up myself... or did I...? Anyhow -- did someone think something about goblins? I'm all in favour of, er -- assisting -- I'll just get to drafting a quote of suitable reward once we've sized up the task.~
Gomphus looked at the group for a short while, it seemed as if he didn't trust them, but this theory was instantly debunked at his friendly wave of his arms.
~Well come on in then!~ He said, leading the group into the city. The Spore Grove, a he explained the town was called, was a myconid settlement. It had once been bigger, but lately goblins had been invading it, led by a bugbear, Blurgh. The town was full of mushroom people, most of which had little or no energy and slowly meandered the town, unlike Gomphus. Gomphus led the group to a very tall mushroom man, about eight feet tall. This myconid had a serious look about him.
~I Am Sovereign Cortinarius. Gomphus has told me that you wish something of us. What is it that you seek?~ He asked in a somber tone.
Best to be upfront. Deksi says telepathically ~We seek the crystals that are key to a gate to another world. One was hidden here by a powerful wizard, and it is imperative that we find it before a powerful devil does.~
(Sorry for my slowness this last week, now I'm more free so I should be able to post twice daily now)
Cortinarius folded his arms.
~I've had enough of devil spies trying to get their hands on the crystal. It is...in my possession, but if you want my help you must help us first.~ He took a step toward them. ~I want the head of Blurg the Bugbear~
Gomphus tapped Az on the shoulder.
~You see, we ruled this whole forest before the goblins came, it was probably one of the most peaceful forest realms in the multiverse, but the devils brought the goblins...and they are after us.~ Gomphus telepathed.
Az shakes his head a little after they speak. He continues speaking out loud to respond.
"This talking in your head thing takes some getting used to. I mean no offense."
Az thinks for a minute. "Now, you just want Blurg's head, correct? What if we are able to convince the rest of the Goblins to live with you peacefully. No sense in slaughtering them all if we don't need to."
~Keep in mind, these are goblins we're talking about, but still I don't believe genocide will be necessary. Goblins are cowards, they will flee if their leader is killed.~ He said with a nod. ~Even if they don't, without a leader the goblins will be no problem to us and we will be able to deal with them ourselves.~
~We will try our best to take out Blurg. Where may we find him?~ Deksi continues, ~And, since this is a task in your own interest, is there any assistance you may provide our assassination attempt?~
~I'm afraid not, we Myconids are peaceful people not the best for...~ He turned to watch Gomphus swing his sword so hard that he became dizzy. ~...war..~
Cortinarius seemed to heave his shoulders as if sighing, but no noise came.
~I believe that with the right valor and cunning you should be able to-~ As he spoke Gomphus approached.
~I will come on this quest!~ Gomphus said proudly, waving his sword in the air.
~He will likely slow you down, if you want Gomphus to accompany you the decision is your own.~
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Az will raise his hand and say "Now, now. Let's just take a moment here. I don't want to bring along a youth just to watch them die. Come here, Gomphus. Stand straight!"
He will look him up and down. "Present your weapon!"
He will look over his sword, seeing how functional it is.
"Alright, see that tree over there. Pretend it's a Goblin. Go attack it." Az will let him get a few hits in, before stopping him and telling him to come back.
Az will load his light crossbow and hand him his "Okay, now try shooting the tree."
Az is trying to see what weapon will suit him better, if any. insight18.
"You seem to handle the sword best" Yuwure says looking at his strikes "but you don't have that much handling, if push comes to shove you may stay back while we take the fight"
Deksi hands Gomphus her walking-stick spear. "Here, take this; it's a much simpler weapon, hold it firm and the pointy end goes at your enemy." (Hopefully Gomphus at least has proficiency with simple weapons...)
((I'm assuming Az could only hear Yuwure's side of the conversation))
Az steps forward, looking confused.
To Yuwure, he will say "Why do you keep talking at it? Why isn't it talking?"
Following Deksi's lead, he will bow and say "Az Shalecrusher, Consecrated of Gond." He looks confusedly to Yuwure "Pleasure to be of service?"
"our friend here can talk telepathically, if it releases spores, do not fear, those seemed to do no harm and afterwards I could hear it"
"Well a'spore-me-up, then, and let's get the think on!"

Az will bow to the sovereign.
"What happened here? What was it like with the goblin's before there attacks? Was there peace?"

Deksi thinks. ~Gomphus will know the lay of the land, which we do not. We will take him, if my companions raise no objections.~
~Adventurrrrre!~ Gomphus cheered, waving the sword.

Gomphus swung at the tree with his blade twice.
Gomphus then tried out the crossbow
It seems that Gomphus is not proficient in either weapon and might as well be better off using his hands.

~But...I must fight! This is my home!~ Gomphus said emphatically.

(He doesn't)
~I must use my sword, I have made an oath to fight with my father's blade!~
