He looks him up and down, and lets his voice go back to its normal volume. "A warrior mush also do what is best for his comrades! Since you wish to come with us, I have the perfect role for you. You will be our rear guard. If there is a fight, you are to stand behind us to ensure that no one attacks us from behind. If you see an enemy, yell out, but do not rush forward towards it. Never go on your own, we must stay together. You are also to observe, so you may learn what it is to fight. What say you! Do you agree to take up this role!"
Gomphus didn't jump as one would expect, as he heard the volume of Az's thoughts, not his voice. As the myconid approached he rubbed his chin...or where his chin would be if he had one.
~That's just...~ He paused. ~The greatest role ever! I will be the best rear guard!~

As the adventurers trudge through the fungi-filled forest they after a short while come upon a raised ledge of rock. The rock ledge is somewhat smooth and seems to be the only way to advance among the thick trees. It's hard to see the top of the rock ledge from where you are. The best means of climbing onto the ledge seems to be a set of raised toadstools oddly resembling stairs.
Climbing to the top of the 20 foot stone ledge requires two separate dexterity checks, as the mushrooms are wobbly. If you want to attempt to climb the mushrooms roll initiative.
Deksi, being an old woman, is not particularly well-suited to feats of dexterity, but she is willing to give it a try if need be. However she will stay behind first to pray to the spirits for guidance for Yuwure, Misery and Gomphus, only climbing last.

8 As climbed halfway up, stepping on about three toadstools, now 10 feet high he could see a pair of goblins. The goblins had lied low during their first round but came to see Az approach. One of the goblins got his bow ready and fired at Yuwure! The other goblin hurled a barrel at the climbing Az, trying to knock him down!
(Yuwure and Deski I need initiative, Az I need a dex save)
Yuwure moves in direction of the goblins (if they'll still be there on my turn), if he may get close enough (30ft walking speed) he'll try to hit the goblin who shot him with the quarterstaff

Az took 4 bludgeoning damage from the barrel, but then fell, taking 3 more damage from the fall!
Deksi's bless is now effective! Unfortunately for Yuwure the goblins are atop the ledge, he would have to climb the toadstools to get within range. Az cast sacred flame on the barrel goblin.
Deksi sighs. "Very well, young Gomphus. We will try to keep you safe, but can promise nothing."

Deksi points her spear roughly in the direction she thinks the party will take out of this grove. "Onward."
Az will hang back a little as they leave, and say to Cortinarius "We will do our best to keep him safe."
He then catches up with the group.

Yuwure looks at the shrooms, he's never been good at climbing, he'll skip this, afraid he'd fall. He'll climb if needed.
"Any of you got a rope that could pull us from the top?"

"Maby we can use mine if noone does."
Az will say "I have about 50ft. I'll take yours as well, just in case."
