Fah'lin stays behind and the rest of you are invisible and pass through the Chain Gate to a massive cavern lit by torches around the outside. There are two frost giants looking bored and leaning against the walls about 40' each side with another two on raised areas roughly the same distance away. Much closer is a scribe looking goblin at a small desk working on a scroll with a couple of ogres with him acting as gophers.
From Thar's previous research how long would it take to cease the link from this gate to the one in our base? And then how long to have it connect to the nearest Ley Line node? If this could be achieved quite quickly does it appears that the occupants of this cavern are bored enough not to notice it happening?

One minute for each action. It is not obvious, it’s just fiddling with different parts of the chain. The giant guards and the scribe would have disadvantage on their perception checks. Arya whispers to Thar “I can stand ready to kill the scribe if he notices anything then run around the room distracting the giants until you are finished.”

"Sounds like that might work," says Thar. "Alert the others just in case." Once everyone is set Thar will commence working on the Gate.

You appear on a ledge next to a long drop on a snow swept mountain. You step out of the gate and pull the chain through to your side.
Gijigume looks around, moving a bit but not far from the gate and not too close to the edge. "Natural frost-giant country by the looks of it," he whispers, "but we're not dressed for it: Let's head back to base."
OOC: Investigate the area for 24. Or Perception for 18.

You are right about not staying too long, you've got 15 minutes or so before you start taking damage from the cold. You investigate the area and find an opening leading back into the mountain that is hidden behind a large boulder. As Fah'lin isn't here opening it will take all of you pushing, maybe. You get a glimpse behind the rock and it large enough for a horse but not a frost giant.
"I agree", says Thar "bit too cold out here for me. Let's see if we can move the rock and get 'inside'. Might take me a little while to connect this end of the Gate back to base."
Together with the others he put his should to the boulder. Athletics: 3
Thar ponders whether it is possible to cast Passwall to create an entry into the area behind the boulder.
Yes it is possible. Arya "Can we get out of here? If we go get Fah'lin our chances of moving that rock are improved. Reconnect back to the chain in our base. And I'm cold!"
"Arya," says Thar "Whilst I can connect to our base I cannot then take this end of the Gate through, that being the whole purpose of our visit. Best if we get out of the weather so that I can try to connect with the nearest node to base for we know that is only about a days travel by foot. We can then plan from there."

Thar will endeavour to Passwall a passage inside.
Arya “But if you can connect to the chain in our base Fah’lin can come here and won’t be standing around by himself.”

(Cursed is a pretty strong word for it. But he'd willingly tell you not to waste any effort healing him prior to any likely combat.)

Okay, that’s enough. The other two would need to get 80 between them.
That rock doesn’t want to move. As far as you can tell the only other way of the mountain is the Chain Gate.
Thar ponders whether it is possible to cast Passwall to create an entry into the area behind the boulder.
With the others struggling with the rock, Otak lends his aid.
