The rest of you take your places and suddenly the connection is made. And an orc walks out of the gate. He looks around confused then he sees Fah’lin “Who are you, am I in the hill giant’s steading?”
I refer you back to the message you recovered from the hill giant chief sent to the frost giant Jarl
"To: Grugnur, Lord of Frost Giants
From: Nosnra, Cheif of the Hill Giants
We have been attacked by a group of the lesser humanoids. They have used foul and cowardly tactics to kill our brave warriors in their sleep and then flee instead of facing our wrath. As we have taken most grievous losses I am invoking our treaty. The bearer of this message is transporting our treasury, please accept 1/5 as payment and then send 20 of you brave soldiers to our assistance. Please keep the remainder safe until this crisis is resolved,
Send your troops through the chain gate with our regular correspondence when it opens this full moon."
"Hmmm, innocence? Well, that be a subject one could ponder on for aeons. I am Kahlin Gool."
Lowering his cloaks hood Khalin Gool smiles. He is a bit unusual in appearance, his right eye is a pale washed-out blue, the left silvery-grey and looks a bit like a mirror spider-webbed with cracks (he believes this is his 'perceptive eye). His hair is white and tends towards frizzled, almost as if it were electrified. His skin is very pale and covered with a fine speckling of spots, as if black pepper were scattered across a piece of parchment. But he radiates sincerity.
"I am not the sort to prey upon others, not seeking troubles unnecessarily, nor running from them unnecessarily. So in that sense I truve to be the sort of which you speak. I am a humble seeker," he spreads his hands to include the party and makes a slight bow. "Of knowledge, and other baubles, yes. But I do dislike Giants and have heard the wind speak of your...dealings with them? Yes, and have ventured here to offer my, mmmmm, talents in your endeavors."
A hand held crossbow and belted dagger were visible as he bowed; his clothing well made and well used, sturdy, unobtrusive.
He looks over his shoulder at Arya and winks.
(This is in response to Fha'lin first address to Khalin Gool)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well," Fah'lin says, "They say you can't kill he mail man." He steps forward and takes the orc into custody (Athletics if needed: (1)29), locking him in one of the cells.
He nods to Thar. "Let's move ahead with Arya's plan. I'll catch up in a moment if you aren't back immediately."
"We had a plan?" asks Gijigume. "Somebody's going to poke their head through soon when that orc doesn't return. If they see this room is empty, they might call a few friends to come through and explore, so shall we do that? But it would leave them alone in the room with the chain."

The ‘plan’ was to send invisible people through to steal their chain and use it to gate to the Ley Line node a day’s ride from here.
"I agree with Fah'lin," says Thar, "if the mail man is for regular correspondence it would seem reasonable that the Frost Giants are unaware of what has happened here and would probably not be prepared for any battle. Getting in and out whilst invisible sounds achievable. Let's give it a go."
As Thar needs to go so as to access the Ley Line node he will cast Invisibility on himself and 3 others if needed (5th level casting).

Arya has Invisibility in her ring of spell storing (thanks Thar) so she will cast it on herself. This will allow Thar to get another person with his spell.
Arya "I have a cunning plan... Thar doesn't connect to the Ley Line node near here he instead connects first to the node nearest the giants. After we go there he then connects to the node nearest here. At present we don't know where the frost giant stronghold is."
Fah'lin stays behind and the rest of you are invisible and pass through the Chain Gate to a massive cavern lit by torches around the outside. There are two frost giants looking bored and leaning against the walls about 40' each side with another two on raised areas roughly the same distance away. Much closer is a scribe looking goblin at a small desk working on a scroll with a couple of ogres with him acting as gophers.
Fah'lin locks the orc in his cell with an apology. "I'm afraid the giants here have been evicted." He says, "We can't allow the threat of their frosty comrades to threaten the people of this region, so we're taking preemptive actions." He gets the prisoner some water and asks, "How did you come into the employ of giants anyway?"

"Giants came to our village, hit the chief with a club turning him into hamburger mince and said 'any who want to be alive tomorrow come with us'. I went, its not to bad; I can read so I ended up working for the Scribe."
Fah'lin nods. "Well I'll see that you are alive tomorrow. When we're finished, I can see you returned to your clan as well, if you wish it." He turns and heads back for the gate without waiting for a reply.
Thar will hopefully stand off to the side out of direct sight from an emerging party and be ready with his spells.

"Yes. We had expected a larger party." Fah'lin replies. "Has some ill fate come upon the Frost Giants?"

“Why? It’s just mail day.” He holds up a satchel “Have you got any messages for the Jarl?”
If Tortles had eyebrows, Otak's would be raised now.

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
Aeliarin awaits the signal to go charging in. In the meantime, he strategically places himself behind the sturdy warriors of the party.

Can Khalin Gool tell that Fah'lin is cursed?
Khalin Gool will cast 'Mage Armor' on himself; then load his cross bow and follow Fha'lin.
