I'm shooting for 5 players but willing to take up to 6. I haven't made any selections yet. Play will be asynchronous because it's play-by-post. I would like for people to be able to post a few times a day if possible. Once a day is a hard must.
Belxian fought in a terrible battle in Avernus, his battalion was wiped out, including his 4 younger brothers. Not a single night had gone by in the 13 years since he hasn’t woken up screaming with the memories of the hell hounds that ripped his friends apart. He now wanders the lands looking to seek peace with all he finds. If this means picking sides in a war to get peace at the end, so be it. Belxian has tried all sorts to get some rest, pints and pints of mead to ladies of the night, nothing has worked, Belxian just wants to find inner peace.
Born in a small farming town, Luzas's divine appearance was a shock to his parents. Having solid, topaz colored eyes and unearthly smooth features from birth, he was a pariah from a very young age in his superstitious small town. Bullying was the norm. His parents were at their wits end, and didn't know how to protect him, or if they even should. A traveling monk offered his parents a place for him at the monetary and they jumped at the opportunity.
Dedicated to the Traveler, he embraced the faith whole-heartedly. He loved the monastery and all the monks there. With his beauty, dedication, and earnest faith, he moved up the ranks of the initiates quickly, too quickly, perhaps. One other initiate had come from the same small town as he, and jealousy poisoned any possibility of friendship. The boy conspired with other initiates to frame Luzas as a heretic, and he was driven from the monastery at the age of 18. He has been traveling the past ten years or so, taking odd jobs and helping communities where he can, eventually feeling the call of adventure.
Despite his story, and his treatment by many, he remains an optimist, who genuinely desires to help others, particularly the weak, powerless, and bullied. But that optimism is tempered by his distrusting nature, until people have proven themselves worthy of his trust.
Rayn Tarlach Race: Human Ability Scores (including first improvement): 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 9 (str, con, cha, wis, dex, int) Class: Fighter(Battle master)5 Background: Mercenary Veteran (if not allowed: Soldier) Feat: Gift of the Chromatic Dragon
Even the last one fled... He smiles... So it all turned out the way it was supposed to. I should have known weeks ago when I took the job: if everyone had the guts to stand up against these anomalies they wouldn't have looked for someone like me. One who... (argh, I had to dodge that)... certainly won't give up now just because I'm left alone to fight... But after all, it's only my life at stake. What's happening? I used to see things in a positive sense. And after all, what's wrong now? I have no one in my way. I can unleash all my resources, and with Traveller's favour - and She is always by my side - I will be able to see the astonishment in the eyes of those who abandoned me here. "Yes, that's me, are you surprised? ...And the reward, if you please, I share it with myself. Goodbye!" Yes, nothing could be better... With his lips opened in a slight grin, Rayn murmurs "fire!" and his flaming weapons once again pierce the air, seeking the flesh of his opponents.
A few days later he felt a little richer, a little more satisfied, and after a few more days he completed his satisfaction in a bed with many women and much less gold... but, you know, his life has always been like that, after all...
If you're still recruiting, I would be interested in joining!
Name: Jax Race: Lizardfolk Class: Fighter (Rune Knight) Background: Soldier Feat: Gift of the Chromatic Dragon
Jax has little memory of how he died. All he can remember is fear and pain. A world dying. Then blackness. Death.
He awoke to a voice. "Arise. The fight is not over. You are needed." Unmistakably, it was the voice of the Traveler. Jax, brought back from death, listened to the voice of his goddess, and stood. He looked around at the devastated remains of his villiage. As far as he knew, he was the only survivor, and possibly the only lizardfolk alive on the surface of Tero. He whispered a silent promise to himself: "I will avenge you." Then he turned and left.
Jax wandered for a time, and eventually he stumbled upon a road. He followed this road and found to the City, the last bastion of civilization. Initially, he was assumed to be a monster— no other lizardfolk had survived— and the refused him entry. With no other option, Jax camped outside the city. Then the monsters came, as they always had. Jax had two options: die or fight, so he fought. He fought for hours, until sunrise, when the monsters finally retreated. The soldiers on the wall, who had refused him entry, saw him standing there, beaten and bloody, but still standing. They knew, despite his appearance, that this was a man who would fight to the last breath for the protection of the city. So they offered him a job.
Jax soon became something of an icon amongst the soldiers—he fought the hardest, the longest, and put all his energy into destroying the forces that had massacred his home and his people. He offered positions of command and honor, but he always refused, preferring to fight on the front lines. One day, he was sent along with a battalion soldiers to combat a large gathering of monsters, when things took a turn...

Name: Delphine Bennett Race: Human (Variant, Tough feat) Class: Blood Hunter - Order of the Lycan Feat: Feytouched (Int) Stat Array: STR 8 | DEX 18 | CON 16 | INT 14 | WIS 10 | CHA 10 Sheet:https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/126488159/ivKavU Backstory: Delphine always had a knack for finding things. Quick on her feet, quick to act and find a way out with a prize in hand. Finding trouble, her pa would say, but she never paid him any mind. Trouble, in her experience, usually meant there was something worth the effort to claim for herself.
That mantra served her well while growing up for the most part. A few close calls on less than ideal marks, but the thrill of those scores further fueled Phi's ambitions and confidence to ever riskier heights. Until, one fateful night, that hubris and overconfidence and her father's warnings finally caught up with her. A mark she'd underestimated and cornered in a dark alley on a moonlit night transformed into a howling beast, one that she barely managed to escape with her life from.
The rogue knew that the wounds she'd sustained were sure to lead to her own bestial transformation, a fate she'd rather avoid if she could. Or at the very least, learn to control. In a risky bid- one last time, she promised herself- she sought out her sire and pleaded her case. And much to her surprise, he agreed- with a caveat. In exchange for teaching her how to control the curse, she would put her skills towards helping him in his own endeavors. A deal she readily agreed to.
Weeks passed, then months as the pair worked to map the land just beyond the Traveler's protection. To what end, he refused to share. Not that Delphine asked too many questions. He was fulfilling his end of the bargain, and with his guidance, and a great deal of effort on her part, she learned to manage the imparted curse, to even use it when the situation called for a bit more than mere sword swinging and quick thinking.
But, all things must come to an end. Whether that end is amicable, expected, or sudden and shocking. The parting from her mentor was the latter. A run of the mill excursion for the pair turned dire, and in a surprisingly selfless act, her mentor held their attackers at bay, just long enough for Phi to flee back to the relative safety of the protected city.
It's been weeks since, in which Delphine manages her grief and finding a new position of employ where her more... unusual skills could be appreciated.
