Joramir thinks for a second. "I heard that Loranna went to a tavern in Neverwinter to see a bard she likes. Chukkberry I think is the name. That was a week ago."
Badger and Ash: you have heard of Chukkberry. He was a very popular bard throughout Northwest Faerun. He has not been active in 15 years and died 4 years ago.
Joramir pauses. "Yes, it was Chukkberry. You just missed Loranna. She was just here before that cart nearly killed me. I think she was headed to the library."
You approach what was once a fine manor but is now showing wear and a lack of maintenance as the sun starts to set. Overgrown bushes and crawling vines crowd the home. You knock and wait a minute before the door is answered. A male gray-skinned aasimar with thick and wild white hair and gray eyes answers the door, whipping open the door. "Don't say a word. Come in." He leaves as quickly as he appeared, leaving the door open for you to enter.
You follow. There is a mustiness to the carpeting and drapery, but you can see evidence of a once tastefully decorated home. You enter a large room of heavy wooden furniture and a loudly ticking grandfather clock. "Sit sit!" he says. "You're here for a consultation of the arcane, yes?"
Badger: "We are, Derbrun! I am Badger and we are the Quote Unquote Fantastic, on a mission to find a certain magic artifact in this very village. Do you know anything about a magic crystal?"
Derbrun seemed vaguely interested in you at first, but it's as if he has seen you for the first time. He holds a hand to his temple and looks confused. "How do you know about the Crystal? I've been working on it in secret for years and only activated it for the first time this morning. Tell me what you know about it! Tell me now!" He seems agitated.
Badger looks to his party then back to Derbrun. "We seek the Water Crystal of Energy, not your new crystal. This crystal we seek has been lost for thirty years and not newly created. Unless your new one is a clone of the original...?"
K: "We come in peace and do not seek to take your belongings. We only seek information and thought that this crystal was not in possession of anyone."
Badger: "Yes, and we know little about the crystal itself or the magic it contains, only that it is desired to save a patron of ours."
Derbrun staggers back, shocked. "Yes! The Water Crystal of Energy! That is my invention! I have only today finished and activated it! There is no other like it. How have you come to learn of it?"
K: "We were told it has been lost for thirty years by a banshee in the Quivering Thickets. She wants it in exchange for a noble knight we are trying to free from her evil magic. What does your crystal do? Where is it now? I assure you we mean no harm to you or your possessions."
Derbrun's voice gets quiet and grave as he explains: "I anticipated that the crystal would provide a slight time diffraction to the area surrounding the town square that would allow the villagers a few extra minutes of joy when away from their work in the mines or fields but if what you are saying is true, the Crystal has already created a much larger effect that has slowed time in this village by a factor of... well... 29,000."
Derbrun continues, pointing to the ticking clock in the room: "I activated the crystal this morning, about nine hours ago, and if you say 30 years have passed outside this village, the Crystal has either, A, slowed time such that one hour here is 29,000 hours out there or, B, it has instead diverted time instead of diffracting it, a minor risk I ruled out early in my design of the Crystal."
Ash, impatiently again: "In Common, big brain! And what is that ticking thing!?"
Badger: "Does that mean that every hour we spend here is, what, three years out there?"
K's voice is morose, understanding the implications of what he says: "Consider that we've been here since just before the peak of the sun. Time from your activation of the Crystal to that time was the 30 years, Derbrun."
Derbrun: "That is a magic time tracking device I've been perfecting over the years. But Great Skodt! I activated the Crystal only an hour before then, meaning if we are in situation A, every hour here is 30 years out there. You have been in this village for about 300 years."

K: "There is a dome over this village made of magical force. Why does no one know about it?"
Joramir just shrugs like it's not an issue he knows anything about nor cares about.
Ash: "When is the last time you left this village?"
Badger: "Or know of someone who left or arrived?"
Joramir thinks for a second. "I heard that Loranna went to a tavern in Neverwinter to see a bard she likes. Chukkberry I think is the name. That was a week ago."

Badger: "A week ago? Are you sure you have that name right? Can we talk to this Loranna?"
Ash whispers the information to K when he notices that K doesn't follow the line of questioning.
Joramir pauses. "Yes, it was Chukkberry. You just missed Loranna. She was just here before that cart nearly killed me. I think she was headed to the library."
Badger addresses the team. "What next? Should we continue to Derbrun's or seek out Loranna for information about this dome?"
Ash: "Being trapped in here is making me nervous. I'd rather figure out how to leave."
K: "I think the mage could help us with information about both."
Ash shrugs. "Then on to the mage's mansion."
