It takes Eliath a moment to light the torch, illuminating the room once more. Shalech, you see that the journal are sitting still on the table; the words also sit still, appearing no longer capable of moving.
Shalech will immediately flip to the pages that pertain to him and will read them in hopes of learning if the experiments done to him will be fatal, or if the shadow fueling his power has any power over his free will.
Shalech, you read your experiment in gruesome details, every moment coming back to you as you slowly relive the experience; but you push on, seeking needed knowledge.
The first thing you learn is that you were one of a list of failed experiments of Kyristan's; to discover how to turn himself into a lich. That is/was his reason and why you suffered for so many years.
You look deeper in, finding how they stole your divinity, replacing it with corruption and necromancy. There are notes eluding to expected powers that you should develop; but since you didn't show any signs of said power, it was written off as an additional failure in the experiment, without going into many details on what those powers would be or how they'd manifest.
"Go ahead and tell us! I'm really good at keeping secrets. I told some friends about a great place to build a town, and haven't told anyone but you two." Kizori chuckles, "And I've never told anyone where the hatchery is." He chuckes again. "It's a secret."
"Shalech, what is in the book? May I also take a look at it?" If Shalech doesn't mind, Nathan also reads the book, trying to look for clues as to what the creatures that have visited them might be, and whether they have anything to do with Kyristan
"Well, that's okay. We'll figure that together, later. Right now we gotta find your magic man." Kizori places his big hand on the girls shoulder, "And I'll be with you while we do."

Also, is Dar unconscious?
"It seems their experiment with me failed to meet their expectations. I did not manifest the abilities they wanted. So I can assume I am free from Kirystan's influence, but whatever they put into me may have a will of its own. I still do not know if I am doomed, or a danger to others."
While Shalech is studying the first book, Nathan takes a look at the second. If there is anything that he does not understand, he will ask help from Dar. He also tells Shalech: "Shalech, maybe Dar or I should also take a look at the book, maybe we could find out what it is that they put into you."
"I don't want to go to Dar, he scares me. I saw the fight you two had." The girl says, referring to Croak and Dar. "He was going to destroy you. He was so angry..." She shakes her head. "I don't want to train under a man like that."
Near the end of the journal there are many references about him getting closer to finding the means to become a lich; including multiple experiments that he began making on his own apprentices, not all willing, and not all surviving. But each time it appears he is getting closer.
Infact, this journal looks like it could be used as a guide for others to pursue lichdom.
Surrisk's journal holds many of the same experiments; showing that he was also involved in many of them. There is even a note about Shalech and how they expected an aura of fear and death to erupt from him, but no such event occurred. The journal notes that the subject was likely too young and weak to develop that effect.
Near the end of Surrisk's journal, it notes that Kyristan may have figured out how to finally transform his followers into Spectral Wizards and that Surrisk has been asked to become one and join his growing undead force. He is nervous that it might not work; but after years of loyalty, he will take that risk.
The girl just shrugs in response to Kizori's question. "I was looking for that nice apprentice of Dar's."
To Croak she says; "I can control the transformation... most of the time. I was born this way. My parents are..." She suddenly sobs for a moment. "...were weretigers as well."
It takes Eliath a moment to light the torch, illuminating the room once more. Shalech, you see that the journal are sitting still on the table; the words also sit still, appearing no longer capable of moving.
Shalech tries to read the journal. Is it coherent?
(Yes, very. Though still written in Arcane writings, you've already put in the effort to decipher the text, so it becomes easy to read.)
Shalech will immediately flip to the pages that pertain to him and will read them in hopes of learning if the experiments done to him will be fatal, or if the shadow fueling his power has any power over his free will.

The girl smiles slightly as Kizori laughs. Once you both are inside, she sits in a dusty chair and simply says; "I'm the weretiger."
Croak nearly falls over in surprise. "Well! Feisty indeed! How did you come to this condition, and speak quietly lest someone overhear."
Croak gives Kizori a glance then a quick look around outside to make sure no one is near. "Is this house empty?"
Croak gives a hurried look through the house for occupants unless the girl mentions that she knows this place is safe.

(There are two books, and other than being a bit out of it; Dar seems fine.)

Shalech will flip to the end of Kyristan's journal, to get a feel for what Kyristan was attempting or doing at the end before he was exiled.

Kizori nods, "It is always your choice whom you train under. Are there other magical people you can train under?"
"Any idea what brings on the transformation? Perhaps we can take you to one of our clerics."

Urselles, it is pretty quiet as the three of you set up for next service. Do you have any questions for them?
