 Shalech suggests, "I have better things to do. If you're intent on returning these to their owners, lets find a constable or sheriff or whoever is in charge of law in this town, and hand the cache over to them.  Then we can take care of our own business."

Theodore can tell that none of these objects are magical, and informs the group.

"All right, I think we should ask Dar about the constable when we return." - Nathan is not really interested in money and riches. "Was there anything else up there, did you take a good look around?  My suspicion is that we have made so much noise that the person who uses the attic will most probably not return. What do you think?"

"I think this has been an interesting little puzzle, but I feel confident we've figured it out.  If whoever stashes their loot here was around, they'll have noticed us for sure.  But if they are not about, then they won't know their hiding spot has been compromised."  Shalech proceeds to cut the rope, near to where it anchors in the house, leaving just a strand so it will hopefully break when someone tries to climb it.

"I have to head out of town to find a hermit that may know something about Kyristan's journal.  I'm not sure how I'm going to solve that dilemma yet, but some company would be greatly appreciated."

“I’m planning on heading to the church, there cleric said he would help me if I needed to go to the north, I say we leave this all step up since whoever it is still has no idea we’ve found where they hide” She turns to Kerrec “that means no cutting the rope and risk hurting someone” 

Urselles notices that the rope has already been cut.

Shalech suggests to Urselles, "If it matters that much, then cut the rope through so whoever pulls on it will not be able to climb it.  But whoever is using this house will know they've been compromised and will go into hiding.  No one will ever know who it is.  But if someone takes a good fall and seeks out some healer... would be a good candidate to investigate further."

(Um... As this being my first DMing thread that I've done, I must now admit that I don't know how to turn off recruiting.  Lol.)

Looking at Urselles cutting the rope, Shalech sighs, "So tell me, why do you want to go North?"

The part of the rope hanging outside the window falls to the ground below.

“I mean, from what I’ve heard they’re the people suffering the most from this, there must be some way to help them” Urselles replies

Shalech nods, "Ah... Well you can go find out why people aren't helping themselves, and if it's something you can lock up or kill, you may be able to do something about it.  If they are just lazy and moping because there is no work... well I hope you intend to take up governing a town and building an economy.

As for me, I may be a danger to others, to myself or not at all to anyone.  Until I know for sure, I can't live my own life.  So I'll go about helping myself first.  And to do that, I need to go see a possibly hostile apprentice of Kyristan's, which is living as a hermit nearby."

As the group eventually leave the house, could I get a Perception check from everyone.
