"Not that I've heard of.  Probably should talk to the mayor tomorrow.  Now, if you'll excuse me...". And he starts walking to the tavern.

His reaction appears genuine. 

Shalech returns to the others.

Turning, you see Nathan standing behind you, watching the encounter.

Speaking to Nathan, "Calls himself Nine Finger John.  Said he knew nothing about the haunted house, but he was lying through his teeth.  Not much I could do about it though. I'm heading back to the others."

Urselles turns to Croak “we, we should probably get out of here and talk to Dar, I have a feeling some wizard may have lived here, considering the magic items we found here” 

"I don't trust those wizards. Neither do I trust a hermit in the woods but that's more my speed. And talking to the mayor or constable is not on the list soo.. As for those jewels though..."

The group gathers themselves outside the 'haunted house'.  The evening is beginning to get late.

Looking at the night, and then at the haunted house, Shalech says, "Free lodging right here.  I'm not keen, or wealthy enough, to pay the crazy going rates in this town."

"Boabby tossed me out for that commotion with Dar earlier, and for that reason I don't want to worry the wizard. I don't have any friends here so this place is as good as any. I'll either get a good night's sleep or find out some clues to this puzzle."

”I’ll go talk to Normand to tell him about are plans up north for tomarrow” Urselles says as she heads back over to the church 

The night is very peaceful as you walk through the town, its actually quite pleasant.  Urselles sees that there appears to be a service going on at the church.  The voices are murmured, but you can clearly hear Normand's among them.

Nathan says to Shalech: "Yes, I saw you talking to him. He surely seems suspicious, doesn't he?" I know I am replying late, but if it is still possible to announce this, Nathan would like to cast the Find Familiar spell, summon his pet owl called Fluffy, and send him to follow Nine-Fingers. If that is not possible, Nathan will join the others in front of the haunted house and tell them what they saw. After that, he will declare that he will go to Dar, tell him what they saw and about their plans tomorrow (unless anyone objects), and that given that he is apprentice, he will most probably sleep at the wizard. He suggests that they should meet at the haunted house in the morning.

Fluffy flies over and lands on the tavern, it's talons grasping tight into the old wood.

Nathan enters the tower to find Dar sitting with his brother Han, peacefully listening to him sing a soft pleasant tune.  The tower appears to be otherwise empty.

Croak nestles himself into a corner on the second floor of the haunted house.

Urselles waits outside the church listening to the service 

Stealing some bedding from the dust covered mattress, Croak curls up in the corner of the room and drifts off to sleep; pondering on what could possibly be in the long green cloth or if the group will keep the treasure or not.

Shalech will do the same, in a different corner of the same room.  He'll use his pack as a pillow as a way to guard its contents.

The church service sounds pleasant and somewhat familiar; with several overlaps and similarities to the preaching of Eldath.  After the ceremony ends, you see countless people of varying stages of despair exit and begin slowly heading north into Old Northbank.

Urselles looks over the passing crowd and waits for them to leave before she enters 

To Shalech, "Had a rough go huh? That's quite a story you got there, just when I was starting to feel sorry myself... I'm looking for a wizard myself ya'know, doubt he's the same one but that's why I'm here anyway. Your situation is a bit more dire than my own, I'd exchange assistance for assistance." Croak extends his massive hand in a proper handshake to seal the bond, "Imagine; an orcish mu'fuggah and a magically altered human spend the night in a "haunted house" they just looted!....... But anyway, where did the loot end up?"
