Isa shakes her head for a moment and blinks her eyes. She has quieted down and just stares at Urselles for a while before finally saying; "Yes dear, just got spooked real bad. I... I'll be okay."
As a player, how do you feel about the campaign? I am really happy that I can be part of this experience
How do you feel about your characters in this world so far? He is a bit confused, but really curious. I am looking forward to him facing new challenges.
What was your favorite moment so far, and your least? My favorite moment was when you described how Nathan communicates with Fluffy in a telepathic way! I was really impressed by your writing.
As a character what do you think about Northbank? Northbank is not at all like Nathan expected it to be, and he is curious about what happened here.
What do you think about the other characters? I like them, and I am looking forward to interacting with them
What do they think of the NPCs? Nathan likes Dar but he is a little bit afraid of him, and I don't think he has had too much interaction with anyone else so far.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
It takes Nathan only a few seconds to understand what is going on. First, he sees if there is anything he can do to help Isa. Then, he reaches out to Fluffy (while being angry at himself for not waking up earlier). Unless what the owl conveys to him requires his immediate attention, he turns to Isa: "Isa, calm down! You are safe now, among friends. Thank the gods that you didn't get even more hurt by the defenses of the tower! you should have been a lot more careful. Now, tell us exactly what happened, I am sure with the help of Master Dar we will figure out a way to deal with this ghost. What did it look like? Was it somebody that you know? Did it say anything else?"
Nathan will try to remember whether he has heard or read anything about any spiritual being, demon, undead, or any creature that would fit the description Isa gives him, and that would be likely to behave this way, that is to threaten a mortal in order to force her to become one of them.
Through a series of images Nathan sees Nine Finger John, exit out the back of the tavern, approach and leave several houses in town, and then go fishing and eventually to what you believe is his home. You never see him enter or leave any of the houses; just vanish into the shadows near them, but you have the feeling that some time must have past at each, or why would Fluffy show you it.
These images pop in and out of your head as you listen to Isa's retelling; now that she is calmer. "I returned home after the party and found it waiting in my house. It actually seemed impatient, like it had been waiting a while." She pauses to try to get comfortable, and Dar motions for the couch to transform back to its original shape; Theodore shifts over so she has more room.
"It called itself the Ghost Prince and said that it's master 'The Lich King' chose me to become it's servant as well. And that if I don't, I die in three days. At that point I immediately ran back here for assistance; and in my haste... Well, you know the rest."
She turns towards Dar. "Dar, please help. I know you don't love me anymore, but I don't feel safe, not like I did at your side. I..." Dar, cuts her off. "I'll help, just hush. You have full use of my apprentices, and I will look through the guild's Necromancy books at Han's place; if you'll assist me brother?". Han nods in reply.
Nathan, from the description, it doesn't sound like a ghost; at least not in mannerisms. A ghost is traditionally locked into a location or quest; but tend to be absorbed by it. To have a conversation involving current things, not things tied to the past, or even showing impatience; these are not the regular actions of a ghost.
Shalech listens and then volunteers, "Well, if Dar or Han can't find anything pertinent, I propose we hide out in Isa's house in three days, and ambush this 'ghost'. In the meantime, I should head over to The Clansmen to meet up with Croak."
Speaking to Dar, Shalech elaborates, "He's agreed to help me with the Hermit. I'm still anxious that the two of us won't be enough and would appreciate more backup. We should be heading out after our breakfast, after we find Joran to guide us."
Shalech says his goodbyes and heads back to The Clansmen.
"I don't think it is a ghost, at least ghosts usually don't behave this way." looking at Isa, he continues, "This doesn't mean that it is not some other type of undead or supernatural creature. As far as Isa and her house is concerned, I have an idea. I could ask Fluffy, my owl, to stay there and keep an eye out for anything strange during the nights. At the same time, I don't know whether Isa will feel safe there all by herself, I mean as master Dar said, Theodore and me are ready to help her, we could stay there until this ghost business is over." before he heads out with Urselles to meet the others, Nathan turns back "Oh, just one more thing. Last night I asked Fluffy to keep an eye on our friend John Nine-Fingers. While there is no concrete proof of him actually committing anything, based on what she saw, I am pretty confident that he is up to no good. It is probably not enough to ask the major for permission to search his house or anything, but still, we should keep this in mind." Nathan asks Fluffy to return, and if it is possible to summon/dismiss the familiar without spending the 10GP on the material cost he will allow her to return to her native plane until she is needed, if not, he will let her sit on his shoulder and sleep there.
As an action, you can temporarily dismiss your familiar. It disappears into a pocket dimension where it awaits your summons. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever. As an action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in any unoccupied space within 30 feet of you.)
Croak sits off to the side, staring at the barkeep and trying to decide if it's the Orc from the dream or not. You aren't sure.
After a few minutes Shalech and Urselles arrive and join him. The bar is filled with people not enjoying their food and drink, as usual.
Isa nods at the mention of any assistance. Dar shakes his head; "I was going to add a second room for apprentices; might as well add a third. But only until this is resolved. And your cooking all the meals." Not a heart felt invitation, but one none the less.
Shalech reluctantly pays for a breakfast (how much?) and sits with Croak.
"So here's the deal. This hermit we're going to meet was an apprentice of Kyristan's. He may still be, or at the worst, still loyal. I am an experiment of Kyristan's and I escaped, so it is possible Kyristan wants me back to finish what he started, or just wants me back because to him, I'm his property. I also have Kyristan's journal, which is what I need the Hermit to help me decipher.
I fully expect the Hermit will want to take possession of the journal and even capture me if he can. Obviously I don't want that. So my dilemma is I need this Hermit's help, but the Hermit will have no interest in helping me. So we need to persuade him or coerce him or charm him or... I don't know what else.
Dar has warned me I shouldn't go unless I have help. So this is potentially dangerous for anyone that comes with me.
That's the objective. While we wait for Joran to arrive later, we can discuss a plan of action, or you can tell me about what you need help with."

As Croak listens to Shalech's story, he is keeping an eye on the bartender. Checking to see if he does a double take or lets his eyesight linger too long at Croak.

"Well I'm sure to scare the pants off of any hermit. Maybe that will work to our advantage, maybe not. Thanks to a cruel father, I know some interesting ways of...gaining compliance should he not want to talk"
Croak turns his gaze directly toward the bartender while still speaking to Shalech and Urselles, "You may have noticed, but there is human in my blood. How that happens is a typically ugly affair. I have no real knowledge of my early years but I was told that I was found in the woods as an infant. I was raised and educated by my adoptive mother who thought I was pure orc. A diviner visited my family and told my parents of my mixed nature, after that they seemed to be more accepting of me and trained me to fight. The story still doesn't add up so I came in search of a diviner myself. That's when I met you lot then last night, I dreamed that an orc was tending here at the Clansmen." gesturing to the barman, "and lo, orcish blood."
Croak clears his throat, "Bartender I'll have a platter and ale, say what is your name?"
Nathan says goodbye to Dar, Han and Isa, asks Dar to inform him if he has found anything, and sends Fluffy back to her native plane to rest before the evening comes. For the night, he will ask Fluffy to keep an eye on Isa's house.
Then (along with Urselles, I presume), he heads to the tavern to meet the rest of the party. He greets them, and sits down at the table to join the discussion.
The barkeep looks very uncomfortable as you look at him, especially at the mention of Orc blood. He replies; "Powell, Powell Carter sir. Though I don't have any Orc blood. 20 coppers sir." It doesn't take an Insight check to tell he's lying, trying to hide his heritage.
Dar informs Nathan that it'll take time to build the new rooms and that they'll have time to investigate Surrisk; and that your friends will likely need help. He sends Theodore with you. The two of you join the others at the tavern as the barkeep brings over two platters of slop to them.
