The Wizard's Challenge

“Well that is certainly interesting, do we know if he’s home around these hours”

"Only one way to find out." Klandar takes a deep breath and then bellows; "Nine Finger John, You In!?"

A loud thud can be heard inside the boat; moments later John comes out, holding his head.  "What do ya want!?" He loudly replies; pain in his voice.

"um, are you ok"

"No, I smashed my head.  What do ya want?"  He stands upon the deck of his boat, arms resting on ropes.  Normand speaks up; "We are investigating a rash of thefts and would like to ask you some questions." "And search your boat." Klandar adds.

"Bloody likely!" Is all he replies before turning and beginning to head back below deck.

Urselles watched as John watched back into his ship and sighed "Klander why would you tell him we want to search his ship"

Croak stands in the doorway of second room as the party enters the new room behind shalech. Taking a glance at the shiny boots Shalech found "what are the odds those fit me?" He continues his focus towards the bear, seeming to be a bigger threat than these abandoned dwellings.

"Cause it's the truth." The dwarf replies as he heads down the dock and starts climbing the boat.  The boat sways heavily under Klandar's weight.  Normand begins running after him; "Wha... Wait!"

"Hey!  What do you think you're doing!?" John replies.

(Croak, the bear is currently outside)

Urselles stares in shock as Klander charges forward at the boat "KLANDER, WHAT IN TH GARDENS OF ELDATH IS WRONG WITH YOU"

He calls back to you; "Investigating!" A moment later the sound of a tussle can be heard inside the ship; as Normand tries to climb aboard.

"I, ugh" Urselles waits outside the ship for the conflict to resolve itself, she hoped Normand wouldn't get hurt and that Klander wouldn't get hurt too badly 

At that moment you hear Klandar scream in pain, the sound of John hurrying above deck, pushing Normand aside and back off the boat.  He then dives into the water; a small filled sack in hand.

Urselles just keeps watching this crazy scene unfolds 

Klandar comes up, screaming; "He's escaping." Normand stands back up and runs towards the bridge.  Klandar hops off the boat, bleeding heavily.  John continues to swim away, the river taking him farther away.

“Crap” Urselles runs to Klanded and casts cure wounds for

Running up to Klandar, you place your hand upon him and channel Eldath's healing blessing into him.  You watch as the wound closes before you.  You can hear Normand call out; "I'm going to cut him off at the other bank." Klandar replies; "I've got a better idea;" unhooks the boat, and grabs on as the current starts to pull it towards Nine Finger John.

Confident that the bear is no longer an immediate threat, Croak enters the second room. Curiosity gets the best of him and he begins exploring the contents of the room. Mainly just picking things up and placing them down after a quick inspection.

Investigation: 11

Croak quickly rummages through the scrolls and books; most of which appears to be adventure novels or other forms of entertainment; except for the four books that Theodore pointed out, 3 of which were described as necromantic.

Croak removes the books with Theodore's guidance and bring them closer to the party for inspection.

Nathan puts the boots away for further investigation once they get back to Dar's tower, and takes a look at the books:
