Amelista rolls her eyes and shakes her head as the adventurers decide to put off her warnings. "Oh well... perhaps I can do a bit of gambling while I wait for them to blow off some steam." She rubs her hands together with newfound excitement and follows the adventurers into the Dance Hall...
The dance hall is filled to capacity, and Glynnis is grateful for her brother's arrival in order to help with the orders. Glynnis and Handar laugh enthusiastically as they slide sloshing beer mugs towards thirsty patrons. The band, Vix-Sin, plays a loud, angsty, and anarchic tune about rising up against your oppressors. The lead singer is an exceptionally beautiful Yuan-ti with bright gold eyes and turquoise scales. He leans forward at the audience and reaches out with one hand as he screams, "It's up to us to change the course! Protest and survive! Protest and survive!" and the crowd roars the lyrics back while twirling and bouncing on the dance floor.
Backing him up on the kamancheh is a young half-elf, baring the tribal markings of the Hachakee. You recognize him as Vanthanor, a council member and herder who is trying to help the people of Santekh learn how to care for, and breed, livestock. To the lead singer's left, you can see the night guard, Kaylan, blowing on her shawm, and to the right side, Rhyanna (another council member) is performing an elegant and passionate dance that really fires up the crowd!
The tables line the edge of the structure, and those who are too tired to dance sit at them, drinking and gambling. Amelista is already trying to join a game of Three Dragon Ante. Witchdoctor Duncan is also there, playing a dice game called Beetle.
The group, along with a few others from the outpost, decided to head to the Dancing Dwarf Hall. Sera smiled to herself, thinking it would be a good chance to get to know the people better. Adjusting one of her newly braided ponytails, she followed the group with a light step, making small, friendly comments to those nearby as they walked.
Amelista, the woman who had been trying to warn the others about something, seemed to give up when no one paid her concerns much attention. Sera caught bits of the conversation but chose not to press, figuring it could wait for later. Instead, she watched as Amelista joined them at the hall and settled down at a table to play Three Dragon Ante.
Inside the tavern, the warm light and lively music made Sera feel a bit more at ease. She found a free table and glanced around, her gaze lingering on Albert for a moment. She silently hoped he’d choose to sit with her—after all, she was eager to learn more about his devotion to Mishakal. With a soft chuckle to herself, she thought, Maybe I can charm him into teaching me a thing or two.
The rude barbarian, however, she hoped would keep his distance. She cast him a sidelong glance, her lips curling into a faint, amused smirk. Far away would suit him just fine, she mused, making no effort to hide her lack of enthusiasm for his company.
Ordering a drink, she let her fingers trace idly over the edges of her holy symbol, the silver triangle resting against her chest. The music caught her attention, and she tapped her fingers lightly in rhythm, flashing a friendly smile to one of the performers as they passed.
Noticing Amelista at her game, Sera decided to pass the time by shuffling her own deck of Three Dragon Ante. She had always loved the game—its intricate deck of cards depicting dragons and their lore felt meaningful to her. The Platinum Dragon card, symbolizing Paladine, was one of the highest-ranked card in the game and a personal favorite of hers. Thakisis was the other high ranking card. That card gave her the shivers. There was something deeply satisfying about playing a game where her god's image could emerge triumphant.
“Feels like fate to play this here,” she murmured to herself, her smile deepening as her fingers moved skillfully through the shuffle. The thought of the Platinum Dragon, Paladine, brought a spark of confidence to her demeanor.
Glancing toward Albert again, she tilted her head slightly with an inviting smile. “Care to join me?” she asked, her tone light and friendly, though there was a hint of warmth behind her words.
Albert is clearly eyeing games of chance tables. He is even zoned out a bit after he snaps out. Seras question grounds him a bit. Albert will order food for himself and Sise.
"Ah, yes, we definitely can sit and talk. Quite a pleasant change from the days work. Nice people live in this place you know. Eh, pardon an old man from side tracking. What do you wish to know, I know it a bit better?"
She Smile at the old man and start deal the cards as it is just they two playing for now. "I..." she hesitate as trust is not easy to give but she decide she probably should try change her mistrusting way of behaving. "..sorry. I am a bit taken back that Paladine..like THE god..have granted me powers. I just wonders...." stops and sips some from her drink then pick up the cards to peek at then while continuing the conversation " you got....powers I belive..from your godess. How it started for you...did you.. " and she go to a quiet hush "...see Mishakal?"
Albert is very focused on the card shuffling and talks like he is side tracked a bit.
"Ah Mishakal, the Lady in blue... Long time ago in Solace town... Eh gods know how long ago... I was just a boy and started to help out in her temple. She just spoke to me. Or the unconditional love she spreads. So I just honour her and do what I can to make this horrible world better. I travel and I aid to those in need. Just spreading her love for life above all else. Sometimes she sends me signs, sometimes she talks. Eh, enough rambling from this old geezer, what took you to Paladine?"

The table you find is well-polished from weeks without anything for Glynnis to do but clean. And it doesn't take long to find players willing to join a game with you, if you choose to let them sit at your table. Money is plentiful in Santekh. It's food, water, and shelter that (until today) has been in short supply. So plenty of refugees, merchants, and sellswords are eager to throw in coin for a bit of action.
For the sake of smooth IC gameplay, we'll do abridged versions of 3-Dragon Ante, using d20 rolls. If you are Proficient with 3DA, you may add your Proficiency Bonus. Or you may make a make a Sleight of Hand Check to cheat, or Persuasion Check to bluff your way to a win. You may also roll an Insight check to determine if you think someone has a better hand than you.

A newly hired server brings you and your little friend each a bowl of fesenjan... a walnut and pomegranate stew that is very popular in the region. Sise slurps up their stew with joyful vigor and you even though the little Killmoulis has a snout instead of a mouth, you could swear the little fella is smiling as they look up to you. When you do try the stew, it's a rich blend of sweet and sour flavors and an earthy, creamy depth to it.
The meals cost you 4 SP and are incredibly satisfying, which puts you in a good mood. You may add +1 morale bonus to your next CHA based skill check (if used in the same in-game day).
The crowd sees that you and Sera are about to play 1v1, and several off to go in on a later round, flashing coin to show they're serious.
Each of you roll d20s and declare your intention: - Play honorably: d20 + Proficiency bonus if you are proficient. - Cheat: d20 + Sleight of Hand bonus - Bluff: d20 + Persuasion bonus
Albert scratches head of Sise: "It was real good wasn't it. Come, sit on my shoulder, we're about to test our luck"
After that he nervously takes the cards: "Oh boy, long time I've avoided these vices... 5 gold coins should be enough for a fun game, yes? But with these cards it seems that I could just give the gold to you to avoid spending time on pointless mind games..."
I rolled in log only for DM to see, Intention should be clear from what I rolled.
(lagged a bit there so rolled 2 times. But Sera just play for fun. Got 11 )
Sera smile at the cute little thing eating and remember the animals she had on the farm when she grew up. Maybe she should gt a cat again? Peekign at her card that is neither good nor terrible bad she place the bet of 5 Steel Pieces on the table. Flinching to the amount as that is a whole sheep value in 1 game. Albert likes play high she wonders.
"..I was stabbed and should have died...but I prayed to Paladine....like my father and mother did for me when I was young and in danger and asked to be given a chance to protect the ones I cared for, who needs it and make a difference against unfairness, greed and evil...it was just a feel mostly that I wanted to do more than just be killed off like that...and I saw a old man. He nodded and after that..I felt the power suge within me.."she make a heavy sigh as she get painful memories surfacing "I belive he wanted me here..."
Sise scurries up to Albert's shoulder and watches the game with intent. They become excited when they see Albert's cards and looks over at Sera with an expression of playful mischief.
Across the dance hall, Tekel approaches the terse barbarian, Theron with two cups of aragh sagi, a particularly strong distilled spirit found almost exclusively in Khur. He offers the drink to you. "Looks like you can use this... provided you can handle it," he shouts at your over the din. His expression is playful, but there's a hint of a challenge in his eyes.
This drink contains 50% alcohol, and requires a CON saving throw DC 13. Failing the throw will give you the Poisoned Condition.
Theron is feeling really good after he has had about 4 pints of ale. He just past over the sweet line between being conscious of everything that is going on around him to everything being a dream. He thinks he detects coming up to him and offering him a drink. He does not detect the challenge, or the insult, but he knows that he was about to order another one anyway. He reaches out and attempts to grab the mug. The first two attempts were misses, but the 3rd attempt clumsily catches the elusive cup and he slams it down his throat.
While the liquid is going down his throat, he faintly notices that this not ale, but it is STRONG and he likes it. "YES", he thinks to himself....something as strong as he is.
Then, Theron's eyes roll backwards as he falls to the floor unconscious (CONSTITUTION SAVE of 10 vs. DC 13 = FAIL)
Sera sat at her table, soaking in the cheerful mood of the tavern. The lively chatter and warm music seemed to ease her nerves, and she found herself smiling faintly as she shuffled the cards for her game of Three Dragon Ante.
Across the room, the barbarian attempted to down one of the tavern’s strongest drinks, Aragh Sagi, only to stagger and collapse in a drunken heap. Sera barely spared him a glance, her lips curling into a wry smirk. “Guess he really was full of hot air… literally,” she muttered under her breath, the memory of his earlier antics briefly crossing her mind.
With a small shake of her head, she dismissed the thought and refocused on her card game, though her attention remained only half on the cards. " but to be fair I should not judge untill I test it myself" she gets the attention of a serving maid and orders 2 Aragh Sagi. One for Albert and one for herself. ( I will roll the same con save and got 7..lol a nice fail. )
Albert takes the drink, sniffs it and without hesitation drinks it. Lets out a cough. "Oh by the nine hells this is something else.... This one will take an extra prayer in the morning. Sise, don't even try this one. It will knock your little soul right back to the fey realm."

Tekel swirls his drink in his cup and takes a modest sip... holds his breath and grimaces a bit before continuing. "So... what makes you want to join those soft-bellied kobold lovers anyway? You know, I'm a fairly accomplished bounty hunter, and I was thinking of starting my own-" Tekel's jaw drops as Theron crashes to the floor. "-guild..."
He sighs and nudges Theron's chin with his dust-covered boot.
Theron responds to the stranger's inquiry with loud snoring
Tekel eyes the travel weary stranger dressed in dusty traveler's clothes and a chain shirt. His short-sword marks him as another weapon-for-hire in this brutal wasteland. "Tekel" he says, introducing himself. He offers his hand for you to shake. "Tekel, the Dragonslayer. Did you come in with the emergency caravan?" He looks down at the unconscious form between them. "Care to help me drag this idiot to the bar so he doesn't get trampled?"

Sera's Insight: Based on Albert's calm demeanor, he's not giving much away, but Sise definitely seems to think you've lost this round, and you shouldn't attempt to raise your bet if Albert does.
The current ante is 5 GP. Albert and Sera need to place their bets or fold.
The server, whom Albert recognizes as Sky from the refugee camp winks as they drop off the beverages, and barely contains a smirk as you try the potent libation. It tastes a bit like raisins and licorice, and it takes your breath away as it goes down. Sky takes your coin and smirks with amusement at each of your reactions. "Chill takes away the burn, but ice is in short supply here," they explain with a disarming laugh. "If you'd like, I think we received some seasoned, dried meat on the shipment as well... lamb, I believe. It goes well with Aragh Sagi. Would you like some?"
Sera, please remove 8 CP from your inventory to cover the costs of the drinks.
You both have the Poisoned condition, and will make future ability checks with Disadvantage.
Sise takes a sniff of the strong beverage and shakes their head in disgust, deciding Albert is right about not trying any of it.
A few tables down, Amelista seems to be doing well at her game. Several players who have bid too much for the evening have felt inclined to leave her table. Pleased as punch, she orders them conciliatory mugs of cheap ale and starts eyeing your game with interest. Clasping her newly fattened coin pouch in one hand, she heads over to your table and waits for you to finish your round before speaking.
Vix-Sin finishes their song and the lead singer thanks the applauding crowd. "Thank you! We are Vix-Sin! This is Kaylan on the shawn, Van on the kamancheh, and the lovely and graceful Rhyanna is our dancer! I am your singer and narrator of truth, Namuya!" He bows low in feigned humility. "It's nice to have something to celebrate for a change. These few weeks have been hell for us all, but we've stayed strong, because we know that what we are doing is worth the struggle. We rely on each other. For strength, for courage, and for community. In the past few weeks since we started running out of supplies, we've restored more homes than we did in the weeks prior!" The crowd cheers. "That's amazing! How did we do it? We had no food! No water! No medicine! Enemies all around us! How??"
The crowd falls silent. "BECAUSE WE HAVE EACH OTHER 1-2-3-4!!!" The band breaks into another aggressive protest song.
Arvos is swept up with the bevy of newcomers and some mannerless people at that. He takes the gold and stores it away in his pack. The music is not to his taste as he prefers more soothing type Musics but goes along with Albert. Seeing how fast Theron approaches being blissfully drunk to snoring he will watch over him to make sure he does not hurt himself. Once he gets a moment with Albert "I am guessing we will investigate tomorrow night once everyone is sober"
Quite soon after the strong drink hits, Albert starts to slur his words quite badly. The charming and wise oldguy has turned into a drunk uncle. After Arvos approaches him: "Oh, I'm, I'm good to go righhht naaow. Just few mooore gaems of cardssss. Come joinnn"
Sera could feel the strong drink kicking in. The world around her began to spin, everything taking on a dizzy, almost amusing quality. To her embarrassment, Albert seemed to grow more handsome the longer she looked at him, though she quickly averted her gaze, hoping he didn’t notice her sneaky glances.
Smiling and feeling pleasantly tipsy, she called the five gold ante, though she had a nagging sense that her judgment of the cards was off. Still, the mood was light, and she didn’t mind.
"Anyone else want to join?" she asked, her voice warm and inviting as she glanced around the table. When Arvos approached, she gave him an encouraging smile. "Care to join us?" she asked, a hint of playful charm in her voice.
Albert covers Sise with his robe a bit and replies in his mind: "He is not nice, he just must be very lost. Don't worry you're safe with me"
After the exchange with the brute, he just chuckles. And follows to the tavern
Amelista rolls her eyes and shakes her head as the adventurers decide to put off her warnings. "Oh well... perhaps I can do a bit of gambling while I wait for them to blow off some steam." She rubs her hands together with newfound excitement and follows the adventurers into the Dance Hall...

CON save of 9
Tekel swirls his drink in his cup and takes a modest sip... holds his breath and grimaces a bit before continuing. "So... what makes you want to join those soft-bellied kobold lovers anyway? You know, I'm a fairly accomplished bounty hunter, and I was thinking of starting my own-" Tekel's jaw drops as Theron crashes to the floor. "-guild..."
He sighs and nudges Theron's chin with his dust-covered boot.

"I think not my friend. Let's tackle the issue tomorrow when you are sober. For now, go ahead and have your fun" says Arvos.
