The party will have no issues leaving the Dungeon of the Dead Three and the Bathhouse area. The party makes its way to the Elfsong Tavern. RAYNOIR ends up carrying Klima.
(Will have an update at the Elfsong Tavern later.)
(( nice to meet you all, Elias (David) has told me lots about you all. I'm excited to be able to play with you all. ))
[[ OOC: Great! We hope we get to meet your character very soon! ]]
As soon as she arrives at the Elfsong Tavern, Khessa immediately seeks out Rahima, so that she can take care of poor Klima - who has already been through more than a poor innocent common girl deserves to go through!
If Rahima the tall adventuress spots Rahima, either on the ground floor, or at the gaming tables upstairs, she immediately approaches her and whispers: "Rahima, I'm sorry, I hate to disturb you, but you are urgently needed... This poor girl needs treatment".
Else, the blonde arcane warrior asks the bartender where she can find her.
When the party arrives at the Elfsong Tavern, it is sparsely populated, as typical for this time of the morning. It is a little before the shift change for breakfast. The owner Alan is behind the bar, but there is no one waiting tables.
Alan will indicate that RAHIMA is still upstairs at the gaming tables.
When the party heads upstairs with Klima near death, they will find the Cleric at the gaming table with by far the largest stack of coins.
When asked about helping Klima, RAHIMA will bow out of the current round of Baldur’s Bones. She approaches Klima and checks her out. She then looks at KHESSA,“She is in bad shape. Unfortunately, I would need to rest before being able to provide the healing that she needs, and then that may be too late. However, I may know someone else that can assist now. Let me introduce you to MISTYNIP. She is an acquaintance of mine. She is a healer. She may be able to help.”
RAHIMA moves over to a woman in chainmail, a shield strapped to her back, and a mace on her side. The woman appears to have been observing the game but not participating in it. The Cleric introduces the other Cleric.
(I will let you take it from there. I will be posting a link again in the OOC thread for the Elfsong Tavern.)
Khessa, in her chain mail armor, approaches quickly on her long legs, almost not hindered by the heavy weapons remaining on her back, a Maul and a Greataxe. Her long weavy blond hair pokes out from under her helm as she turns her lively blue eyes to the new cleric.
The blonde arcane warrior, despite exhibiting some bruises and superficial wounds herself, is clearly worried about Klima, the girl she has just shown to Rahima for medical treatment; nevertheless, it is with a smile that she extends her hand to the new woman: "Nice to meet you, Mistynip! I am Khessa, Khessa Cabbagefield. My friends and I have begun a 'cleanup' operation on behalf of the Flaming Fist in a lair of evil cultists, who terrorize the common folk by committing brutal crimes in honor of the (fortunately deceased) deities they worship, the Dead Three. But we had to temporary suspend our work, when we freed Klima, here, from their clutches..."
The tall adventuress places naturally her hand on the cleric's shoulder to guide her to see the injured girl more closely "Do you see what condition she's in? She's alive, but she needs assistance immediately... Could you do something for her?"
Confident that smarter and more capable people than her are taking care of the human, Rosebud checks on her donkey, Burra, who had not joined her on the adventure. Upon verifying that Burra is fine and appears to have been well-fed and watered, Rosebud approaches the bartender, Alan, to ask, “Do owe you anything for saving my ass last night?”
Elias knowing that the young captive is in good hands, heads to his room, where he will stow the spell books picked up earlier, then return to his friends.
Mistynip places a hand on her holy symbol and prays to Helm. Keep my path in your unfettered gaze, lord. I shall not err if you are watching. As she closes her eyes and finishes her prayer a white light surrounds Klimt and to everyone’s astonishment, Khessa too. (Restoring 5 Hit points each). There, that should restore some health to you both! Now, bed rest and water. Can someone help her to a room?
Elias comes back to the group just in time to witness Klima and Khessa bathed in white light. By the...his voice trails off seeing the chainmailed figure at the center of the group. Yes, a bed, yes, right this way, here in my room. The young wizard steps in and offers his hand to Klima, right this way. He leads her to his room, there off the main gaming room. Goes to the dresser and grabs his extra set of traveling clothes, here, these should fit, looking at the young girl, might be a little tight in places but nonetheless better than what you have on currently. There's water in the pitcher and a wash rag in the basin. Please make yourself at home. I'll fetch some some food and drink. He leaves the room and closes the door to give her some privacy. He looks toward Khessa and smiles as he heads down the stairs where he orders a bowl of flavored broth and a hot green tea, make that two teas if you would please.
RAYNOIR will say, ”After she rests a bit, I will take her to my order for further convalescence. I too am overdue on my vows. I will need to depart our group. It has been a blessing to be in such fine company.”
REYA will say, “It has been a long night, we should take advantage of this establishment and get some rest as well.”
Downstairs, Alan will take Elias’ order and head to the kitchen. After a few minutes he will return with two cups of tea and a wooden bowl and spoon with a warm beef broth, “It is included with your room.”
Khessa is favorably impressed by the promptness with which the cleric takes action and thinks to herself: 'She didn't hesitate for a single moment... and she didn't even raise the issue of payment! Truly a good and generous soul like you don't find every day...'
But it seems the surprises are not over: that thaumaturgical light, white and pure and yet, in its own way... pleasantly warm, not only envelops Klima, but also the blonde arcane warrior! She is amazed to see the signs that the battles with the Cultists have left her almost completely disappear and her blue eyes stare gratefully into those of the other: "Thank you very much, Mistynip... You... you were incredibly kind to bother for me too. Are you looking for something in particular, here in Baldur's Gate? I will help you in any way, if only I can".
Seeing the kind young mage, Elias, who immediately takes care of Klima's remaining needs, the tall adventuress smiles. 'Another sweet and generous soul...' she thinks, looking at him with a tender intensity that suggests a feeling deeper than simple affection 'He does have a certain affinity with Mistynip in this'.
"We should return to the base of those b4stards I told you about before as soon as possible... The Dead Three Cultists..." Khessa turns again to the Helm cleric "Every day we let them operate freely is a day that poor innocents risk being murdered..." but here Reya proposes, on the contrary, to stay at the Elfsong tavern. And, as it seems to be the time for surprises (both good and bad), Raynoir, the holy sivler-scaled dragonborn, announces his departure. She does her best to hide her sense of disappointment... without Raynoir, the task of finishing the Cultists will become much more difficult. But she knows the heart of the silver dragonborn as well - and she is convinced that if he has made such a grave decision, there must be an equally grave reason behind it. She retrieves the Flaming Fist badge from him, turning it over in her hands and staring at it, as if the badge itself could tell her who to give it to. Who could possibly be so brave (and perhaps even a little reckless) as to take Raynoir's place on a mission that is certainly good and noble, but just as certainly difficult and dangerous?
"So," the blonde arcane warrior pats Mistynip on the shoulder, laughing "it seems we need to rest here for a moment, contrary to what I hoped... Well, you'll have some time to decide how I can repay you! Unless..." she suddenly seems struck by a new idea "...Unless you feel like joining us. It seems we have just lost our only cleric and you've already demonstrated how useful you could be - and as a reward, you could participate in the division of what will be 'confiscated' from those assassins. Where we intend to send them, the riches will be of no use to them anyway... What do you think? Do you feel like it?"
Kheesa, Helm looks with favor on those he deems worthy. She looks back at the shield emblazoned with Helms gauntlet and thinks. She turns her head and meets the blonde warriors eyes and says. I was accompanying a company of Hell Riders North of Elturel when the champions light went out. We watched in disbelief as the City sank below the horizon. We rode hard to the city only to find an empty crater. The leader gathered together a group of refugees and we rode hard to Baldur's Gate and got here just before the gates were closed. As she tells her story, she glances across to the Paladin I got separated from my company so I made my way to this Inn looking Rahima, a family friend.
She pauses to think, looking over the party of adventurers gathered before her. She thinks to herself that not only have they been found worthy by Helm, but kind and doing what they can to protect the City that is not even theirs.
Kheesa, I am honored by your invitation and confidence! By Helms might we will rid this city of these cultist and protect these people! She extends her hand to the blond warrior woman.
Elias sets with Klima and brother Ray as she eats, the color slowly returning to face. Brother Ray, thank you. You have taught me much and are a credit to your faith. He walks to the young lady as she finishes her bowl, takes it and the spoon. Raises his free hand and brushes the hair out of her face, casting prestidigitation as he does to clean her hair. He sets the bowl down and pulls a travel robe from his pack, although the shirt looks good on you, you may want a little more, um, coverage, while traveling the streets. Brother Ray is a great guy, you'll be safe with him.
He takes the dirty dishes and heads to the door, placing his hand on Ray's shoulder and says my friend in Elvish. He walks out of the room in time to catch the newcomer extend her hand to Khessa, quickly diverting his eyes he heads down stairs to return the dishes.
"The honor is mine!" Khessa is beaming as she shakes hands with the other. She solemnly hands her the Flame Fist badge that Raynoir had to give up. "Here, take this! As a member of the Flame Fist, you may have some authority here in Baldur's Gate - certainly much more than you could as a refugee. Let me introduce you to the others!"
The blonde arcane warrior enthusiastically introduces the new member of the party to everyone else, starting with those who are already present, like Reya, the brave paladin of Elturel and the young mage Elias, who has just witnessed the scene, but immediately going to look for those who are not in the immediate vicinity, like the bellicose gardener Rosebud and the stealthy Atlas.
"So," the tall adventuress recaps, speaking to all the heroic companions "you intend to rest here, to return to the Cultist's base to finish the job at a later time? If so, Elias, perhaps you could try to summon Percy, your Familiar, again before going to sleep... It could be useful later - at least even just to draw out again the Imp who serves the Cultists... Now that we know of its existence, perhaps we can set a trap for it... Depriving the Cultists of their invisible fiendish scout would be quite a feat".
After MISTYNIP speaks, REYA approaches the Cleric, “I am Reya Mantlemorn. I am a Hellrider of Elturel. Elturel is..” The Paladin pauses for a moment tears begin to streak down her face, “was a big place. We have not met. You served with the Hellriders. I am honored to make your acquaintance.” You will notice that REYA has a holy symbol of Torm.
She continues, “The Cultist of the Dead Three are indeed a threat to this city. But there is more. Somewhere within their lair is someone that knows the whereabouts of Thavius Kreeg. He is alive and here in Baldur’s Gate. I have the purpose of finding and talking to our leader about what has happened to Elturel.”
(For MISTYNIP to open.)
(MISTYNIP will know the name Thavius Kreeg. Kreeg was the High Overseer of Elturel. You will know that he was also a Cleric of Torm.)
Alan smiles and works hard to keep from laughing, then tells ROSEBUD, that her Donkey has been no trouble, "We have her out back. There are always plenty of table scraps, so she has been well fed."
RAHIMA’s gaming table dissipates as the Cleric collects her winnings and stows the mounds of coins in her pouch. RAHIMA will say, “It is time for me to go.” She wishes the party and her friend MISTYNIPwell and leaves the Elfsong Tavern.
Shortly after this, the first glint of sunlight glistens through the window in ELIAS’s room. And with this ray of light, a song can be heard. The female elf begins to sing.
(Open if you know Elvish.)
O sing a song of Elturel
Of water, woods, and hill
The sun dawns on her ruddy cliffs
And fields green and still.
This land of long-abiding joy
Home of the strong and brave
Renowned by all, across the realms,
And never once a slave.
O sing a song of Elturel
When foes are at her door
Her fields torn by cloven feet
From some infernal shore.
Arise the mighty Hellriders
Take up your swift, keen swords
Then charge into the hellish fray
And scatter devil hordes.
O sing a song of Elturel
And when the night does fall
Sleep safe beneath Companion’s light
Until the dawn does call.
We’re bound by mortal covenant
That only ends with death
And so we’ll sing of Elturel
Until our final breath.
REYAwill call out, "What is this? Where did the song come from? She sings the song of Elturel?" The Paladin is confused.
Rosebud introduces herself to Mistynip. “I’m your local gardener and member in good standing with the Woodworking Guild. Well, good enough standing, I think. But it might depend on what they think of our recent activities. Okay, I don’t really know about my standing in the Guild but I’m glad you are here. Ray was helpful at keeping us alive and I don’t really want to feed the worms quite yet.” She giggles to herself. “And I’m glad the girls continue to outnumber the boys. We might make it through this adventure without too much silliness.”
Elias comes running at Reya's call. oh, that's the maidens song, hang on a minute, he steps back into the room and returns with his journal. Here, have a look. I've recorded as much of the original song as I could remember. During our first stay here she changed the lyrics, I've got them written on the following page. It was a rather big deal, Alan didn't think she had ever changed her song before.
He looks over at Khessa, an owl might be good, but should we consider something a bit more useful in the sewers area that it seems we'll be in? Maybe a giant rat? The sun's coming up, are we planning a short rest then heading back this morning? I'd be interested in seeing how the handle finding the bodies of those first three cultist in the bath house.
Rosebud adds, "A cat or a weasel could also work. I've been a rat before - the smell can be a bit strange and no one likes you so they usually try to hurt you. People confuse a weasel with other animals and usually leave them alone since they are confused, although I know I have seen them in the forest - they like to play tag and I sometimes play with them, but they can be a bit enthusiastic when they tag you. And everyone in the City is used to seeing cats, although only if the cats are a normal color. I once saw one that was purple and was certain it was a wizard or something odd. Oh, I was dreaming about the sewer earlier! Maybe this was why it was on my mind. Was I looking back or looking forward into time? Or maybe I should not have had those mushrooms before returning to Baldur's Gate." As usual, her thoughts wandered like a grape vine - not straight but with occasional bursts of knowledge.
She then turns to Alan and says, "Oh, good sir, here's a gold coin. I hope this covers any past trouble I have made for you." She's never quite certain what has happened in the past and she just got a few coins from last night, so Rosebud figures she should pay him in case she did something in the past that could catch up with her in the future. Beside, he seems like a nice fellow and it is nice to be nice to nice people, she thinks.

ATLAS will not detect any deception in what Klima says.
(Note to ROSEBUD: This is from the Adventure: “The dungeon’s rooms, corridors, and staircases are hewn from limestone.” No dirt.)
Ahh, good to know. Good thing that the taken action was theatrical. 😊 I guess no blocking passages.
