After Dunkin’s healing word, Vasha is ready to push on to the cave. “The rest of the runts shouldn’t be much problem without this one to lead them,” he says, giving Klarg’s bound form a kick before helping to load the bugbear onto the wagon.
When the others are ready he will continue driving the wagon to the cave. He keeps his eyes wide scanning for danger but he fails to spot the goblin sentry.
Chase looks at Vasha with concern, there was a time Chase would’ve killed every goblinoid he could, growing up hearing how evil they were made him blind, but there was a goblin once that was clever and had just a bit of wisdom. Chase learned not all individuals of any particular race are the same. Certainly Klarg fit the stereotype but Big Nose showed some cleverness… It will be good to get Klarg’s confessions and be done with this mess. Seems there are plenty of evil plots all about Phandelin, too many.
“Thanks John that should hold him for sure. Good shooting too Vasha was taking a thrashing it’s nice having a crossbowman to tip the scales.”
"Wait! Before we advance further, notice the sentries behind the bushes...well, perhaps just one. Regardless, we mustn't allow them the opportunity to alert the rest of the hideout. Oghma only knows what other nefarious traps and ambushes they have devised."
“If we’re going into that cave again, I don’t like leaving Klarg alone. Should we leave a guard? Given the goblins skulking about, it’s sure that someone will come by a loose this big bugger. Is there another way we might recover the plunder? Maybe Big Sneeze can help us.”
if we can find her, he thinks.
Dunkin perception 12 to spot the sentry just as Nyli skewers it.
John thinks for a moment. "No we should question and be done with this monster before proceeding. The risk of it's escape and losing the information is too great if you leave only 1 to guard especially a goblin no matter there personal interest being aligned with ours. Let wait rest up a bit then get the info before we press into the cave. That's my vote at least"

“No! Klarg will face judgement before the folk of Phandelin. I’ll guard him myself if that’s what it takes. I have ways of getting the truth, but I can’t do it here and now.” Chase has a very dwarvish stubborn look on his face.
"Ok, Chase. Then lets get this done." Dunkin moves across the creek and into the brush at the right side of the trail, an arrow nocked. He moves stealthily, on the lookout for more sentries.
Vasha pulls the wagon to a halt just outside the cave entrance, the creaking of the wheels and the snorting oxen the only sounds breaking the silence after the sentry falls. He pauses, gripping the reins as his sharp eyes scan the darkened cave mouth. There’s a stillness to the moment, like the calm before a storm, and he gives a brief nod to anyone eager to scout ahead.
Satisfied with the setup, Vasha turns to Chase, his voice low but firm. “When we enter, make Klarg lead the way,” he mutters, his eyes glinting with a hint of the rage that always lingers just beneath the surface. “If there’s any traps, he can be the one to trigger them. No sense in risking one of us.”
He glances at the cave mouth, his lips curling into a faint sneer. “Then we make the rest of them load the wagon. If they want to stay alive, they’ll work fast. With any luck we can avoid any more bloodshed.” He stays by Chase’s side, eyes flicking between the cave and Klarg, ready to spring into action if the prisoner so much as twitches the wrong way.
Nyli moves up to Vasha "Should one of us small ones go up the wolf cave chute? It will stop them escaping down it, and let them know they're surrounded."
Goblin K falls dead. If Chase approaches, he would recognize it as the goblin he snatched out of the crashing wave trap yesterday.
Just as you stop the wagon, Klarg stirs. He immediately tugs on the chains and rope; neither budges. "Let Klarg go," he demands groggily. A second time, more assertively, "Let Klarg go!" No matter how he struggles, he can't do much beyond wiggle and squirm. When Chase prods him to go into the cave, he says, "Yes, take Klarg home." He willingly complies with your directions for now.
If Doldek's bat familiar scouts the cave, it sees (without a check):
There are no wolves in the wolf cave, no goblins in the main passage or the eating cave. There is one goblin fixing the bridge (Goblin L), one attempting to rebuild the dams for the two pools in the far cave (Goblin T). Goblin T is succeeding only in getting wet; the dams are nowhere near ready.
In what was Klarg's cave, sitting on a stack of crates as if it were a throne, is Big Sneeze. She is directing another goblin (Goblin U) to "reorganize" the "treasure hoard," arranging everything by size. Anything that was once in a box now is not. Cabbages lie next to helmets, scraps of dried pork are scattered among copper coins. One keg of ale has recently been hacked open with a shovel; judging by the size of the puddle on the cave floor, very little of the ale was drunk.
Inside the cave, the wolf area is empty, but still smells like dog and rotten meat. The chute which likely connects to the passageway Dunkin saw in Klarg's former cave is still filled with garbage.
Up ahead, a goblin (Goblin L) is hard at work repairing the bridge. It is balancing on the sagging wood planks, reaching down for one of the ropes its compatriot cut yesterday. It is armed with a wooden javelin.
OOC:
All the goblins have a passive perception of 9. Because you got the lookout so quickly, they aren't being especially attentive and will be relying on their passive perceptions to notice you.
If any character is noticed (Klarg will be unless you do something about those chains and somehow motivate him to be quiet) you'll have one round before Goblins L screams and runs to Klarg's cave. Goblins T and U and Big Sneeze's actions will depend on how the situation develops.
When his Familiar finishes its sweep of the hideout, Doldek snaps out of his trance. "Four goblins. One repairing the bridge. One building another dam trap. Two in Klarg's den. Big-Sneeze and a subordinate, amid a pile of looted goods."
"Four goblins is better odds than before, and Big Sneeze may be willing to talk. If not, I could start sharpening my knife again." The normally happy little gnome, suddenly has a somewhat disturbing smile on her face 😈
Vasha listens intently as the recon report is delivered, his eyes never leaving the mouth of the cave. With a curt nod, he acknowledges the plan without a word, his mind already focused on what comes next. His hand brushes the hilt of his greatsword, a comforting weight on his back as he takes his position beside Chase and their captive, Klarg. He stands ready, brimming with anticipation, his muscles coiled and tense as they prepare to move in.
At Doldek's report, Dunkin wonders aloud, "Is there a chance we can negotiate with the remaining band? There's only 4 of 'em! Chase, we offered Big Sneeze mercy in exchange for her help. She in turn offered help if we took care of Klarg and his deputy. I'd say we'd done it. I'm also thinkin' the Lionshield Coster in Phandalin offered 100 gold to recover their lost shipment of arms. Wonderin' if that be the loot them goblins is sittin' on. Mebbe we can also get some information about the connection between the Cragmaws and Redbrands."
He pauses after his speech.
"I guess what I'm tryin' to say is 'Dead goblins tell no tales.' Might be handy to get 'a bit of info first."
“Fully agreed yes a deals a deal!” Chase calls out loudly, “Big Sneeze I’m here to prove to you Klarg is taken care of! Come here so we can have a parley! Hurry up too!”
Once (if) Big Sneeze shows up, she can see Klarg in ropes and cuffs.
“We need the stolen loot from town too, or else! And what deals did you have with the Redbrands?”
