It seems like Vasha has a free hand, so there's no problem retrieving the javelin as part of his attack within the reaction.
Instead of dealing with readied actions, everything will happen starting in the first round of combat, in which the monsters (except the wolves) will be surprised. You all are unseen, at least for now. Doing something loud or noticeable like casting a spell or making an attack will break stealth.
Chase would definitely give up his stealth for a preemptive strike vs Klarg it will be up to Vasha if he chooses to use his reaction assuming our initiative is better than our enemies. I’m okay with no readied spell, it’ll be Chases action instead, sorry for prepping without asking first.
Wolf A runs back and forth, searching for a good spot to leap across the stream. The wolves on the sandbar hone in on Nyli and Chase; their goblin riders hang on as they try and fail to steer their wolves back onto the path. The goblins (and Klarg) do not seem to understand why these wolves are behaving this way. Klarg laughs at the goblins' struggling.
OOC:
The party's initiative averaged 12.7 compared to the monsters' 12.8. With the monsters' turn complete, it is now your turn. You can choose to do something different from what you had originally planned if you want. The goblins still don't see any of you; it's just the wolves.
I treated your stealth rolls as a group check; only the wolves rolled high enough on perception to spot you, or rather smell you, but the other monsters will realize something's up in just a few seconds.
Vasha crouches low behind the rough surface of a large rock, his eyes locked on the approaching wolves. His breath is steady, but deep down he feels the familiar surge, the tingling beneath his skin as the rage bubbles up, threatening to take over. As the wolves draw near, a flash of sickly green energy bursts in his eyes, and in an instant, the rage consumes him.
(BA Rage)
With a snarl, Vasha bounds forward, greatsword in hand, and charges straight for Klarg. The blade swings wide, leaving Vasha overextended. His lips curl back in a growl of frustration, but before he can recover, Chase’s voice cuts through the chaos with a sharp command.
(Reckless Attack misses)
Teeth gritted, Vasha swings again, the force behind the strike raw and wild.
As Vasha leaps into action, Nyli manages to avoid a wolf's attack. With goblin Q focused purely on holding the wolf Nyli launches an arrow at the goblin. The arrow sinks deep into the goblin's chest but doesn't kill him outright. With her position now revealed she drops the bow and draws her shortsword and dagger.
NYLI Attack on goblin Q hit 24 damage 7
OOC: Ignore the multitude of rolls. The original attack was with sword but then I remembered she had an arrow nocked. Which is a shame as Q would be dead from a nat 20.
Unable to cast a spell at Klarg for fear of hitting Vasha, Dunkin takes aim at the bugbear and looses an arrow from behind his rock (5 to miss). His face falls as the arrow sails wide, and he dodges behind cover again.
Confusion turns into chaos for Klarg and the wolf riders. Wolves dart back and forth; half their advance party falls unconscious; another goblin struck by Nyli's arrow, falls into a more permanent sleep, its wolf, uncaring, continues trying to bite at Nyli. Klarg, at least, keeps his head on straight, even as a frighteningly large half-elf rushes at him.
"You, get that lazy one up!" He points at Goblin P and Goblin S immediately rides over. Klarg faces Vasha with a wolf by his side, leading with a brutal slash from his longsword. “Klarg will build a throne from your bones, puny one!” Klarg stands about a foot taller than even Vasha.
OOC:
I see four greatsword attacks by Vasha in the game log. I assume two of them are meant to be a single, reckless attack made at advantage, but I don't know where the others are coming from. Vasha's reaction attack from Voice of Authority has to happen when Chase casts Heroism. Even if Chase readied an action to cast it on Vasha's turn, it's a touch spell, so Chase would've had to within 5 feet of Vasha when Vasha had already moved to Klarg for Vasha to make a melee attack on Klarg with that reaction, which did not happen. I had expected to see a javelin attack or some other ranged attack, which Vasha may still roll.
As a general reminder, if anyone rolls to the game log, I would like to see in an actual post both the result and an explanation of what the character hopes to accomplish. Nyli's most recent post is a good example. I don't even look at the game log unless a post is unclear.
Monsters:
Wolf A (Wolf) 12/12 HP: Attack (Bite) Vasha --> 21 to hit for 7 (halved to 3) piercing damage.
Vasha must make a DC 11 Strength saving throw or else fall prone --> 14 (pass)
Wolf B (Wolf) 12/12 HP: Attack (Bite) Nyli --> 8 to hit (miss)
Chase continues concentrating on heroism, as he rushes to aid Nyli. Warhammer in hand he takes a swing at the wolf (B), dealing a deadly crushing blow. End of turn.
Concentrate on heroism. Movement 10' left. Attack 12 Damage 10 Bludgeoning.
John moves 30 feet to the right to have better line of sight with Klarg, he drops to a knee next to dunkin and lines up another shot. Releasing the bolt it sours through the air planting itself next to the last one.
Vasha growls low in his throat, his breath coming in ragged, furious bursts. The gaping wound in his side is nothing compared to the fury burning in his veins. Unfazed by the pain, his grip tightens on his greatsword as he locks eyes with Klarg.
With a roar, Vasha swings the blade in a brutal arc, the green glow of his rage flickering in his eyes. The sword slices through the air with deadly intent, aimed squarely at Klarg’s chest. Pain fuels the attack, driving Vasha’s every movement as he presses forward, relentless in his desire to bring the brute down.
Reckless Attack (19, 11) for 13+2= 15 slashing damage
As John’s bolt buries itself in Klarg’s chest, Dunkin releases another arrow which sails harmlessly over the bugbears head, again. The halfling again dodges back behind his covering boulder.
Klarg had been certain that Vasha would fall after Klarg had cut him so deeply. Vasha does not. Just as Klarg winds up for another swing, John's crossbow bolt flies across the river and thunks into his chest, piercing through the layers of animal hides Klarg wears. Klarg staggers back, giving Vasha an opening to land a brutal slash across Klarg's torso. Blood sprays everywhere. Klarg falls back with a thud onto the dirt path, his consciousness rapidly fading.
Wolf A wisely flees, running to join Wolf D. Goblins S and P ride on the wolves, loosing arrows at Chase and Vasha as they struggle to stay mounted.
Meanwhile, on the sandbar, Wolf B, feeling cornered, continues trying to maul Nyli, but its attention is divided.
OOC:
A 12 does not hit the wolf's AC.
Because you had discussed capturing Klarg alive, I am going to have Klarg "roll" death saves. He's going to fail each roll, so someone will have to stabilize him in the next two rounds or else he will die.
Monsters:
Wolf A (Wolf) 12/12 HP: Disengage; move to Goblin P, then move north
Wolf B (Wolf) 2/12 HP: Attack (Bite) Nyli --> 6 to hit (miss)
Vasha growls low in his throat, the sound primal and guttural as he yanks the goblin arrow from his shoulder. The pain only fuels his fury, his vision tinted with the sickly green glow of his rage. Without a second thought, he locks eyes on the goblin who fired the shot, its beady eyes widening in terror.
Ignoring the sting in his shoulder, Vasha barrels forward recklessly, every ounce of caution gone. His greatsword swings in a wide arc, and with a furious roar, he brings it down on the goblin. The creature doesn’t even have time to scream before it crumples under the force of the blow, dead before it hits the ground.
