"Hah!"Chasewinks at Illuwen. "Guess you owe me dinner, my dear bard!"
The tabaxi then maneuvers her bubble right next to Scratch and says, "Hail to the Bubble Champion! Will that get you a prize, I wonder?" She pauses, looks at Illuwenand Scratch, then down to where Lexhas floated. "So, what now? I think we should try to make the most of these bubbles—who knows how long they'll last—to try look for a kenku or something related to coals. Doing it from up here could give us a good vantage point. But...we shouldn't wander too far away from Lex, either." She waves energetically to the gnome so he knows they are counting on him too.
Scratch grins at his sister as she congratulates him. However, when she points out that Lex is now without a bubble while the rest still have theirs, he spots the flaw in his exuberance.
"I'll go down and stay with Lex. I don't want him to be alone. You and Illuwen see what you can see and then come see us."
Before Scratch flies down toward Lex, Chase calls out to him—and to Illuwen as well—"Which way? We talked about checking the Lost and Found, see if we find anything interesting. Maybe even some lost children we can help reunite with their parents. That might help lift the Carnival's mood. Or do you have other ideas?"
He gestures toward Lex, raising his arms questioningly and pointing in the direction of the Lost and Found, trying to ask if he's okay with heading that way.
As Lex drifts slowly down from the firmament, it occurs to him that they could have taken the moment to get done what needed to get done once they eliminated the others. But he hoped that the show they had put on was worth it. He sees Chase gesturing and pointing, cocks his head and squints at the pointing, then sets off in the direction of the Lost and Found. As he does he keeps his ears open for the vibe of the crowd or potentially overhearing any interesting rumors swirling through the conversations of passersby.
Chasebegins to float toward the Lost and Found, careful not to drift too far from Lexand Scratch. All the while, she scans her surroundings, keeping an eye out for a kenku, or anything else that might connect to what the Fortune Teller told them. She also stays alert for anyone who might be in trouble. Anything to help lift the Carnival's mood!
Once Scratch lands by Lexthe goblin in charge of the ride approaches with a prize for the winner and runner up and says, "That was the best dibblefibble of bumper bubbles I've seen all day! Here you bilither go! Traxum for stopping by!" He hands Scratch a rainbow fountain pen, and he hands Lexa small wand.
As you all make your way to the Lost and Found, Lexand Scratch pass by two girls in face paint. One has a lion face painted and the other has a hart face painted. As carnival goers pass by the two squabble over a painted wooden crown that their mother won at a stall. Their mother quickly resolves the issue, and they move on.
A little further down the thoroughfare you hear, "Come test your brawn in the Thunderdome!" over the sounds of explosive magic coming from the east near the ticket booth.
As Chaseand Illuwenfloat around looking for any clues that could aid their search, the only thing that really stands out is a sizeable crowd gathering around the Silversong Lake to the north. Mist gathering a the bank and beginning to spread out throughout the crowd. Seems like quite the spectacle! You start to think that a show like that is bound to attract disruptive trouble makers.
"Hah!"Chasewinks at Illuwen. "Guess you owe me dinner, my dear bard!"
"Looks that way, well done, Scratch. We'll have to swing by the feasting orchard a bit later, my treat."
Illuwenglances at the crowd gathered by Silversong Lake. "Ah, it looks like Palasha's about to start a song, we can go check that out if we don't find anything by the Lost and Found."
Chase nods in agreement. "Yeah, definitely quite the gathering there,"she adds, glancing toward Silversong Lake. And though her mouth remains as unsmiling as ever, she's clearly delighted by the idea of a treat at the feasting orchard!
Once they relay the plan to Scratch and Lex, she steers the bubble toward the Lost and Found. If nothing there catches their interest, she continues on toward the lake.
Scratch feels like his attention is being pulled everywhere. He knows they need to focus on the task, but at the same time, they need to win the competition. They can't risk missing an opportunity to lift the carnival's mood.
He looks up into the sky, making sure his sister and Illuwen are still bobbing along.
Lex walks next to Scratch, and hearing the sounds coming from the Thunderdome starts, “Maybe we should let the others check the Lost and Found while we peek into…” He trails off hearing the squabbling sisters. He waves down the mother and the girls, and offers, “My, it seems we find ourselves in a predicament. Allow me to see if I can assist.” He bends down, and begins to repeatedly cast Druidcraft. As flowers blossom, he plucks them and begins to weave them together into a flower crown. Holding them out seriously he says, “Now, one of you may wear the Painted Crown of Giggles and Tree-forts. The other shall be the fey queen of whispering breezes and butterflies who speak in riddles. Both are needed for the realm to blossom.” He gives the girls a wry smile.
The twins faces light up with joy as they thank Lexfor the gift.
Illuwen and Chasecontinue floating over the the Lost and Found while Lexand Scratch are held up momentarily. Will Lexand Scratch split off on their own, or continue along with the others?
Scratch smiles at the gnome. "That was wonderful, Lex. The magic, the words, and the heart." He looks toward the Thunderdome. "I believe you were suggesting we check that out on our way to the lost and found. I suppose it wouldn't hurt."
Illuwen and Chasenotice as Scratch and Lexbreak away and head towards the Thunderdome.
A large round tent lies before them with five whimsical peaks affixed with glittering moons and stars. A bold sign that reads THUNDERDOME arches over the entrance, glowing slightly. A gnome with frizzled patches of hair shouts at them, "Have you come to test your brawn in the Thunderdome!? Are you up for the challenge??"
Chaselooks at Illuwenand says, "Seems we're splitting up for the moment..." She looks concerned for a bit but then remembers that they're not kids anymore—and that they entered the Witchlight Carnival legally—so she assumes it won't be a problem. The tabaxi shrugs and adds, "Well, let's go! Let's see what we lose at the Find & Lost." She giggles, thinking that maybe the goblins at the Bubble-Pop Teapot would have found the pun amusing.
Chaseand Illuwenmake their way over to the Lost and Found. Outside the lost property wagon is a large feline creature with midnight-blue fur. It has a pair of tentacles extending from its shoulders and wears fake butterfly wings. Hanging from its collar is a small wooden keg. The creature roughhouses with two young boys. One boy squeals, "Again, Dirla, again!" while the other hangs onto the creatures neck.
It takes a moment for their senses to adjust when Lexand Scratch enter the tent with the gnome; loud bangs thunder across the space as bright lights dance and dazzle. Carnival goers stand shoulder to shoulder as they watch the last moments of a Thunderdome battle, the excitement nearly as palpable as the thick smell of ozone in the air. A few panels that make up the perimeter of the 30-foot-squaree arena start to glow, vibrating slightly, and you watch the crowd move to cover their ears as another deafening boom shakes through the space. Cheers erupt.
The gnome explains the rules of the game as you follow him through the crowd to the entrance of the arena, "In the Thunderdome, participants may compete on a team to defeat three waves of conjured enemy creatures. Teams that defeat all three waves win a prize. The event is made more complicated by unpredictable thunder strikes that sweep across the battlefield. You will be given a thundersuit, which must be worn at all times!" He continues explaining as you watch the current battle rage on.
(At start you will take positions in the arena. Every round there will be blasts of thunder magic that come from the walls, try to avoid those. A creature that enters a charged line or ends their turn there must make a DC 10 Dex saving throw, taking 1d6 thunder damage on a failed save, or half on a success. Each wave the amount of beams per round will increase, making things more difficult. To win you will need to defeat all 3 waves of summoned creatures. Teams that do so win a prize.)
The gnome wraps up his explanation and says, "Any questions?"
"Hah!" Chase winks at Illuwen. "Guess you owe me dinner, my dear bard!"

Scratch laughs, his incisors flashing. "Me, neither."
