Chaenath was watching the whole exchange from the background. Now she steps forward, and looks over her companions.
"Let's not turn on each other at the first given opportunity," she says in a completely neutral tone. It's apparent that even if she has an opinion on the matter she's content to keep it to herself. "Come on. We have work to do."
She glances at Mirim, as if checking on her, and starts walking after Atonement, casting Dancing Lights on the way to light up the dark street.

Seeing Mirim shrinking into the shadows, Seraphine goes over to her. "Don't worry," she says, "I've yet to torch anyone who didn't really deserve it... well, on purpose, at least." With a wink, she follows off in Atonements direction .
"You think you can impress me with a cheap cantrip?" Ethan responds. Then adds, more calmly "I know you tried to help, the thing is, you didn't. If anything, your generosity only made things worse, both for him and whoever he hurts next. There're lots of ways to help people - healing the plague in the village is just as helpful as killing bandits, attacking it. Bad things should happen to bad people, and you should know full well that justice isn't dealt with gentle hand. And, for the future, your personal insecurities are poor argument in making a call."
Having ended his response, Ethan continues to walk to the surgeon in silence.
Your brief dispute ended, and the street thugs dealt with, you all make your way through the back roads back to the main thoroughfare. At this time of night, the streets are almost entirely empty, and you see hardly anyone travelling the roads except for a few guards. The various taverns and inns have closed their doors for the night, and the only lighting comes from a few torches contained in sconces on either side of the wide, dirt road. The buildings here do not share the same improvised quality as the slums and backstreets, and instead look fairly uniform, made out of cheap woods and stone, but stable. Most of these buildings are residential, but a few have wooden signs that hang out into the street, signifying them as either bars or other establishments.
You follow Hawthorne's instructions, making your way towards the stairwell that leads to the Open Ward, until you happen upon what you believe is the surgeon's Apothecary. You surmise this from the sign that hangs out front, which has no lettering, but depicts a red potion with a hacksaw diagonally behind it. The windows are dark at the moment, and you can't see anything moving inside.
Atonement turns to face the others, "It doesn't look like he is going to let us in. Do we want to head off to the temple and come back here in the morning, or do we just want to head into the sewers?"

"Well, you know what they say... knock first, knock the door down second," Ethan chuckled. "Just kidding!"

Seraphine looks around at the others for a moment before walking up and knocking on the door.
You wait for a few moments, but the door does not open. You hear a bit of shuffling from inside the building, and then a muffled voice.
"We're closed now! Take your sick or injured to the town guard! They'll see to them."
Atonement snakes his way up to the door, "And what about those looking to inquire about the recent mutilated bodies?"

Mirim pounds on the door with her fist “Hello! Mr Surgeon! We’re with The Order.”
"We require your expertise," Ethan added.
