I think the DnD Beyond dice have been pretty buggy lately. In another campaign I'm in, everyone's either been getting less than 8's, or perfect 20's. Roll out of thread and then post it here.
Yeah, I mean, rolls of 11, 6, 7, 9, and 4. The only good roll (19) you got when you rolled a Dex check. I'm headed to bed right now, but I'll post the occurance of events tomorrow morning.
Herbert rushes to rails: "Oooooh fascinating, local fauna. Oh damnit focus! There are lives at play!"
He stretches his arm and uses Prestidigitation to foul up a cubic feet of water in front of the beast. He makes it bitter, so it sends a sign of "poison" to beasts brain.
Alright out of thread it was a 16 😅 hope they get that sorted soon
With the rope flying wildly around the side of the boat, you can feel the breath of the monstrous creature behind you. You're reaching at the rope, wildly trying to get a hold of the one thing that could save your life... but you aren't able to grab a hold of it. As you begin falling down into the creature's maw, Herbert appears over the railing, dumping some water into the creature's mouth. This foul-tasting water causes this creature to sneeze out a Steam Breath. Now here's the good news, and the bad news. Good news! This impossibly strong wind whips the rope around even wilder, somehow getting itself wrapped around Koya's foot, and also launching him up and over the railing. Bad news: the steam is extremely hot! Koya, make a DC18 Constitution saving throw, with advantage (since it's fire damage and you're a dragonborn, and you're covered in water.
Steam Breath (for Koya):
Scalding steam in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, taking 52 (15d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Everyone else peering down, you see what monstrosity it is that's planning to make Koya it's snack.
Herbert:
Herbert, make a history check to see if you recognize said creature (this picture isn't for your sketchbook, it's for visual purposes only)
Herberts eyes widen and his jaw drops when he realizes what they're facing: "OH. MY. GODS. A real dragon turtle! They're so rare! They're smart, we can reason with them! Umm uh HEEEY MR. OR MRS. DRAGONTURTLE, WE MEAN NO HARM TO YOU!"
Kaelen’s eyes widen slightly as he takes in the true form of the creature—massive and ancient, its power radiating from the water. His mind races as he considers Herb’s words. If the creature is intelligent and can be reasoned with, then perhaps a quick lie could turn the tide in their favor.
"Wait!” Kaelen calls out, raising a hand toward the dragonturtle, his tone firm but respectful. “We are not your enemies. The Scaled Queen sent us to retrieve this body—it's part of a larger offering to her, a token of respect.”
Seeing what is underneath the water, Kukhay has an idea, and heads back over to one of the Merrow. He'll motion for help from one of the crew, and will strip the merrow of its armor before dragging over and tossing the body over the side toward the mouth of the dragon turtle.
Herbert sees what Kuhkay is doing and he chimes in: "Oh, I'll help and I can make it very tasty with a spell from my book. Do you think general blood taste or umami?"
Herb gives help action in tugging the merrow body and Prestidigitations soy sauce flavour.

Herbert rolled nat20 in log for the total of 25 history

Herbert, give me a persuasion.

Kaelen rolls insight on the creature: 18.
a 5 :(
As you are trying to understand the nature of a dragon, you fail the check (you would've needed a 20)

Before you end up interacting with a CR17 creature at Lvl2, I need to ask: are you sure you want to do that?
-Archie
Uhhh...No, nope, forget he said anything.
Ahem...Instead, Kaelen rolls medicine to try to recall how to treat steam burns to possibly help Koya. Medicine: 18
Koya, can you make that dex save for me? (with advantage)
-Archie
Sorry is that a dex save or a con save? With dex it's a 19, with con it's a 20.
