Kaelen lets out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding as Koya is back on deck alive. Life and death are natural, but this felt...unsettling somehow. He is relieved, he realizes. How strange. Approaching the Dragonborn, he carefully unties the rope from them, not wanting to risk it getting caught on something and sending them back into the water.
Koya lands hard on the deck, falling briefly unconscious before being revived by Bert's spell. "Thank you, Bert," They look to their traveling companions and give a deep nod, "Thank you all for the assistance," They will pull themself up slowly, glancing over to Squall to make sure that the man's body made it onto the deck. Koya winces audibly as they stand to their full height and, without approaching the gunwale, will look out into the water. "What in the nine hells is that thing?"

Kaelen gives a nod at the thanks, glancing over at Herb as Koya asks about the creature. "It was a...'dragon-turtle', didn't you say, Herb? I wonder if it is the Scaled Queen the Merrows mentioned...It didn't seem to mind us defeating them though."
"If it was associated with the Merrows, I don't think it would have left us alone that easily. The Scaled Queen clearly wants tributes from passing ships. That thing could have easily capsized this ship, and taken whatever it wanted once the ship was on the bottom of the sea." Kuhkay responded to Kaelen.
Turning to the captain, the heregon asks "How much longer until we reach our destination? I'd prefer to avoid any more aquatic encounters."
Herb scratches his head: "Yes, yes a dragon turtle. Those are ancient beasts. We kind of got unlucky, because some of them are nice, but some have made ship capsizing their hobby. Regardless, I will put it in my book. Travellers need to know about this AMAZING possibility to meet such a beast."
Herb just goes on a tangent about dragons and his favorite types. He doesn't even notice if anyone stopped listening.

Turning to the captain, the heregon asks "How much longer until we reach our destination? I'd prefer to avoid any more aquatic encounters."
The Captain response, while still staring at the water where the dragon-turtle just submerged. "It's take us a good 9 hours. Ye should go below-deck and get ye some sleep. Me an the crew, however, v'got to stay up and fix The Lass (As you've found out on your stay on the boat so far, the ship is called The Lass), and after that, we celebrate!!!" With that, a cacofany of cheers erupt from the crewmates. The Captain turns to Kaelen, asking "I know we've already received so much from you folk, but do ye mind taking Ted down below, and put one of the bunk's sheets on him?"
OOC: just roleplay how you go underdeck and get ready for bed. or decide to stay up, help clean up, or return for the party. however you want
Seeing what is underneath the water, Kukhay has an idea, and heads back over to one of the Merrow. He'll motion for help from one of the crew, and will strip the merrow of its armor before dragging over and tossing the body over the side toward the mouth of the dragon turtle.
Herbert sees what Kuhkay is doing and he chimes in: "Oh, I'll help and I can make it very tasty with a spell from my book. Do you think general blood taste or umami?"
Herb gives help action in tugging the merrow body and Prestidigitations soy sauce flavour.
K, now we have the loot to hand out!!! Two of the Merrow's have already been stripped of their Leather armor, and dumped out to sea. One of their armor's were taken by Kaelen I think? And the other one's just sitting there. There was a Ring of Swimming, but Kuhkay took that I think. There's still two more Merrows with their Leather armor on. I'll let people claim those, and add them to their inventory. BTW, Merrowic Leather armor, when adding it to your inventory, is the same as Leather armor, but it doesn't get damaged by long exposure to water. I'll customize it if you add it to your inventory.
Also, I just found another way to get to the map easier. If I have a "session" running, you can join by going to your character sheet, and then pressing the Play button next to the campaign name in the top right corner.
"Of course," Kaelen replies quietly to the Captain's request. He steps toward Ted and bends down, gathering the body.
Without another word, Kaelen moves below deck. He finds one of the bunks, laying Ted down, and retrieves a sheet to cover him. As he pulls the fabric over the body, Kaelen feels that same knot in his chest—the feeling that death, once so simple, is now something he must guard against.
He then finds a quiet corner below deck and slips into his trance. He focuses on the intricacies of working with leather, absorbing knowledge from the shared memories of the Shadar-kai.
When he awakens from the trance 4 hours later, he feels the knowledge settle in—a new proficiency with leatherworking. The Merrowic leather armor he discovered could soon become something useful, shaped by his own hands.
Herbert finishes his rant about dragons just to notice that everyone has already left: "Ah, right, focus Herb!"
After that he turns to the captain: "Ah, sir, sorry to bother you, but I can help you with the repairs! I know some spells that could help us greatly!" Flips through his spellbook to a bookmark that looks like hammer and wrench crossed. Looks around to find something small and broken to cast Mending. If there is anything that is reasonably small to mend with spell, Herb will do that.
Later Herb goes to one of the Merrow leather armor and cuts a small strip of it for his book.

Koya slowly rewinds as much of the rope they used that can be salvaged, handing Kaelen's back before the Shadar-Kai heads down below. That done, they crouch to examine one of the Merrow's armor, turning it over curiously before putting it into their pack for further inspection later. Exhausted from the day's events, but not quite ready to turn in, Koya will make a round of the ship, checking over the sides into the water, hovering a hand over their crossbow all the while. After making their round they will make their way below deck and find a quiet corner to sleep and recover for the night.

Using borrowed tools and some scrap metal from the ship, Kaelen gets to work. His hands move deftly, shaping and reinforcing the Merrowic leather, adding studs in key areas to strengthen the armor without compromising its flexibility. The hours pass, the rhythmic sound of metal on leather accompanying his careful work.
When the armor is complete, Kaelen steps back to study the result. The Studded Merrowic Leather Armor gleams faintly, an upgrade from the simple leather he had before. He replaces his old armor with the newly crafted piece.
After you all settle in for the night, and after a long night's rest...
Stormwreck Isle—now visible off the bow—promises rare wonders. Seaweed shimmers in countless brilliant colors below you, and rays of sunlight defy the overcast sky to illuminate the lush grass and dark basalt rock of the island. Avoiding the rocks jutting up from the ocean, your ship makes its way toward a calm harbor on the island’s north side.
A large, open-air temple comes into view, perched on the edge of a cliff high above you. The ship drops anchor at the mouth of the harbor, and two sailors row you ashore. You have plenty of time to admire the towering statue at the center of the temple, depicting a wizened man surrounded by seven songbirds. A long path winds up the side of the cliff to the temple, dotted along the way with doorways cut into the rock.
The sailors set you ashore on a rickety dock, where a large rowboat is neatly tied. They point to the base of the path and wish you good luck before they row back to the ship. Your visit to Dragon’s Rest begins!
As Kaelen steps off the dock, he takes a moment to absorb the sight before him. The figure of the wizened man with the seven songbirds catches his eye and he studies it curiously.
"A strange diety...Are any of you familiar with it?" He knows only his Queen, but information about the customs of the island may help in his mission.
Oh it's con, but you succeed.
Koya, you successfully land on the ship, but you still take 23 damage.
Having missed its prey, the monstrosity submerges under the ocean waves, not to resurface.
