Malachite scratches his chin through his beard, looking across the crowd of kobolds.
"I'm Malachite. I had a last name but it was taken from me by bad people. And I'm here because my ship sank and I floated ashore, and I feel the need to make myself useful. What's been happening on this island of note lately, little ones?"
Koya largely watches from a distance, still perturbed by the sudden reality of the dangers of the island, and will look with wary curiosity at the kobolds, startled by the sudden welcome but introducing themself if any get close, "Er- Koya. Koya Balrin. And... you all...?"

The chattering kobolds fall silent as a new figure comes into view, descending gracefully from the upper part of the cloister. She's an elderly human woman with weathered brown skin, white hair in tight braids, and kindly hazel eyes, dressed in a simple white robe. She smiles as she draws near and extends her arms in greeting.
"Welcome to Dragon's Rest," she says. "May Bahamut's guidance lead you to whatever you seek."
Kaelen steps closer as the new woman appears, quietly observing the way she carries herself, the robes she wears, the way her eyes seem to hold a wisdom earned over years. The Raven Queen’s whispers remain distant, but Kaelen feels the tension between his purpose and this place’s peaceful aura. He offers a small, respectful nod to the woman but remains silent for now, content to let the others speak first. He keeps his gaze steady on her, waiting to hear more, ready to listen and assess.
Malachite stands up, having bent slightly to address the kobolds, and smiles widely to the woman.
"Thank you kindly madam, it's a relief to meet friendly inhabitants on this isle, the first people I met after drifting ashore tried to bite my face off before we were able to put them to rest again. Are the undead a common issue for the people living here?"
Herbert pitches in after his fast sketch of kobolds: "Ah yes, the undead! Could you tell me more? For my book that is. I want the world know about this amazing place"
Herbert:
you see one or two Kobolds with wings, but most are without.
