Seeking 3-6 1st level characters for Blade Bizarre, an investigative adventure about dangerous weapons entering the wrong hands.
If you are interested after reading the details below, please reply here or in a PM. Include the race/class you would like to play, and a short background summary. At the start of the adventure, you have been hired for an investigation by the Warblade of Sundabar.
Standard Array, Point Buy, and “Roll 4d6 Drop Lowest” are all acceptable, but the rolls must be made in a reply or PM. Rolling is a gamble, you can end up with some awesome arrays with this method, so if you choose to roll, you must take what you get; no switching to Standard Array or Point Buy once rolls are made.
Only good or neutral alignments are accepted in this adventure, and I will trust the players to roleplay well within a party. Make sure that chaotic neutral is fun for everybody, not just the chaotic neutral.
About The Campaign:
- This adventure is part of a large overarching campaign, so this party can continue to another adventure after this one is complete.
- Some aspects of this adventure are very linear. You will be on rails for much of the traveling, so if you are the type that prefers being able to sail west in a campaign and make your own adventure, Blade Bizarre is probably not for you.
- This may at times be an M rated adventure. If you think you will be unable to handle descriptions of bloodshed and other sensitive topics, this adventure is probably not for you.
About The DM:
- I started playing D&D with 5E. I DM two RL groups and very much enjoy how PbP campaigns allow groups of people to come together and create an awesome story.
- I can update my PbP campaigns up to three times a day on most days, but will not advance the campaign without giving each player 24 hours to post, unless it is a situation where only one or two players' input is necessary to advance. With your response, please send me a PM that includes the phrase “priestess of Chauntea” so I know I will have players with attention to detail.
- I prefer PbP campaigns that read nicely, so I stick with Theater of the Mind for PbP and provide as much information as I can, rather than use an external tool for placement on maps. I also roll initiative in groups so that rounds of combat can progress as quickly as possible.
- I avoid fixed values, I don't like 'em. Enemy/NPC health is rolled, all damage is rolled, and character HP gains will be rolled when they level up.
- Your characters can die. I don't fudge rolls, so don't be reckless.
- Check out my other campaigns/adventures on the site if you'd like to see how I DM plays-by-post:
I would be interested in joining. I would like to roll the stats before I decide on character. I am open to playing pretty much anything.

I would say half elf bard... looks super weak so I would be down to being someone’s squire singing their praises wherever we go. I know you mentioned for pm’s but priestess of chauntea.
Have a few concepts but lets see what the dice say...
Ability scores: 12171491213
Human (Variant), Fighter (Champion planned) - Two weapon fighting w/ Duel Wielder feat Folk hero background - More like a washed up folk hero. For well over ten years, Doig has been trading on his felling of a shadow mastiff that had been terrorizing his village. However, he has become rather complacent in recent years rarely adventuring anymore, resigning himself to literally whittle away his time - he's a woodcarver. He enjoys to embellish his exploits, so much so that his mastiff story leaves out that the fact that he received some help from some unseen source - perhaps from a priestess of Chauntea... His wife has recently left him, taking their little girl with her, as she was fed up with his lack of motivation. He has now dusted off his weapons to try and prove to his wife, and himself, that he can actually accomplish something.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Let's see how the rolls go and take it from there.

Name: Karst
Race: Aasimar (Scourge)
Class: Paladin
Ability Scores with Racials added 17, 14, 17, 8, 16, 19 (I'm certain that's my best roll on this site ever!)
Alignment: LN
Background: The unmistakable celestial heritage made his parents reject him, after all how could a pair of thieves really be expected to look after someone like him, his penetrating stare and his aura of good unnerved them and after trying to ignore the things that made him special for a few years Karst found himself as a very young child palmed off to a temple to be brought up by those more suitable for the task. His parents showed a surprising clarity of thought in this though. Not for Karst the penitence of Ilmater or the joys of light and rebirth of Lathander, his path would be darker.
The temple was a small one, but one with a very dedicated group of teachers hidden away in Chessenta, and the young boy was raised to be an instrument of vengeance, serving the god Hoar. Trained in war and religion for fifteen years, Karst excelled, the moral code that governed the priests fitted him like a glove and the priests were pleased with his progress, although they came to realise that book learning was not his forte. Feeling that it would be necessary for him to learn more of the world before he could continue his ethical studies Karst was sent out across Faerun, ending up in Sundabar where the Warblade took an interest in the young man and asked him to join a party that was being formed for an investigation which might ultimately need his skills to succeed.
Seems surprisingly close (although slightly worse) to SA. OK, let's have a somewhat old, but still healthy human barbarian.
Silverbeard is a man of the wilds, having lived most of his life in a distant forest village. Having reached the venerable age of 45, he was as tradition dictates, cast out of the village. The old wolf should leave the pack when his time has come. Unlike others, Silverbeard did not die. He felt there was much more he could do with his life, so he left the forest and looked for employment in the wider world. There, he was introduced to the civilised idea of "retirement". He now found his life's goal: a pleasant retirement in his own house, surrounded by loving wives, children and servants. He just needed to accumulate the wealth and fame to make this a reality.
Bartram Shadecrest has always been interested in gathering secrets, especially if they can be used to help others. From a young age he would enjoyed blending in or trying to go unnoticed, listening in to the conversations around him. Using this information he was able to trade it to the right people for money and food. This skill and talent for espionage eventually caught the eye of the spy group The Hidden Eye, who quickly recruited him into there ranks. Wit's them he learned to hone his craft to an even greater degree while helping others. Not much is known about the group The Hidden Eye, only that they are a spy group with no known allegations to any world power and they use the information they gather to root out evil and corruption. Even Bartram didn't know everything about them and hasn't even met them all, in fact he as only met one, his trainer and recruiter Bozeman. Any other contact from the group came in the form of messages delivered by raven witch delivered his assignments. It was one such raven that he got his latest one, they had been hired by the Warblade of Sundabar to investigate how dangerous weapons were entering the wrong hands.
“Spirit. In every language in all the Realms, surface and Underdark, in every time and every place, the word has a ring of strength and determination. It is the hero's strength, the mother's resilience and the poor man's armor. It cannot be broken and it cannot be taken away.”
I grew up tough. Mom and Dad fought like cats and dogs and loved hard too. Since my dad was part of the local infantry, when I came of age, I joined up too. At the current political landscape, service was more of a function - I learned some cool stuff but didn’t get much chance to utilize it. The exception being when my squad got assigned a scouting detail in the mountains.
It changed me - that day.
We were slaughtered down to 3 of us. My best drinking mate brought it that day. The creature that spanked us - I still remember its face. It seriously had our lunch passes that day.
Only blood loss and a more experienced medic got me through the experience. Our medic and a spell caster, along with my ugly ass were the only survivors.
After they debriefed us, I served out the rest of my stint and came back to civilian life. The nightmares still get me pretty bad. But I press on - I focus on the people I travel with. The experiences growing up made me appreciate the people in my life. My goal now is to find the right woman for right now and maybe earn some coffers so I can one day retire on the coast.
