Taxidea looks at Xondario and motions towards Armeros. "See? Armeros is my friend AND calls me Badger. I think you need your ears checked." Then he turns back to Armeros and Xini. "Ab-so-lutely! Butterfly Death Swarm is always accepting new members! And so far, none of our old members have even DIED, so you know, it's not like we've got a high turnover rate or anything."

Rikas grabs Xini by the arm and drags her to the side, away from prying eyes and ears and begins to whisper to her. Others would just see the two talking back and forth. Rikas talking with his hands and occasionally, a slight purple glow can be seen trailing his hands.
To Xini:
"Xini, what are you doing? We can't just be joining any group that comes along, just because they have someone who plays too... We have to be careful."
"Why can't we join up with them. They're nice. and I haven't found anyone else to play with. It would be nice.But, OK, we find out what kind of neat 'Quest' they are on, then you can get excited too." Xini says in mostly quite voice with a bit of dance twirling about. (she rarely stands still)
Jasmine inspects the new set of golden plate armor. It seems to have a knightly aura about it. Her tail rattles and she notes, "Thissss armor.... this will come in quite handy." Her voice has the lisp again but this time, it seems to be because she is excited with the new armor. She swaps equipment to the shiny new set. She then clears her throat and addresses the newcomers, "It is nice to meet you, Xini and Rikas. If you don't mind me asking but... who sent you to give us this new gear?"
"Neat Quest?" Rikas places his fingers on his temples and simply shakes his head. "This is going to end up badly... Let's make a bet... If we DON'T end up dead from this... You let me finally buy dinner."
to Jasmine: “to be completely honest I didn’t think to ask his name, but I tend to trust people. We were stopped by a stranger in a black cloak who gave us this bag of weapons and armour, along with names of who gets what. He didn't say how to find these people, but he did say that once you find them and give them their 'gifts' you will find stuff for yourselves in the bag.”
Xini walks back and says ""What kinda quest are you guys on? Maybe we can help?"
Taxidea sucks in a big, deep breath and starts talking fast. "Ok, so we were having breakfast when some bandits came in and then there was a disappearing lady who I guess is also a goddess of like goodness and stuf but still kind of an ******* if you ask me because she trapped us in a void until we agreed to help her get her staff back which had been stolen by Shigh and was being kept in a dark tower. Armeros there saw the staff in his mind and when he touched it walloped him something fierce. Sorry Armeros but that's still a little bit funny....so aaaannyyyways she transported us here - wherever this is - and told us to head southeast which we did and then we found this lovely, lovely road..." he crouches down to pet the road "...along with a caravan that apparently has been traveling the road for generations without ever actually asking the road to go someplace...those guys...ok, they weren't dumb I guess but maybe a little bit dumb, but super nice and great cooks. So then we asked the road to go to the tower, which it did but there were these fire elementals which...whew!...they about turned Butterfly Death Swarm into Butterfly Burnt-to-a-Crisp Swarm, but, I mean OBVIOUSLY we escaped them, so then we found a town that existed kind of outside of time which allowed us to spend a couple months training and getting stronger while hardly any time passed here outside of the town and THEN we started heading towards the tower again but there were these guys in the woods who looked like thugs so Armeros and Xondario and Jasmine went to talk to them to see what was up while the rest of us snuck through the woods but there were a bunch of OTHER guys in the woods with bows who wanted to take us to the tower as their prisoners, but that seemed like a BAD idea to me to I...suggested that they leave us alone and go find some other losers to pick on, which they did and then we kept going on the road, debating whether or not we should...or even COULD find somebody else who was willing to help us and then you came along." He pauses for just a second. "SO. In summary, we're headed to the dark tower to retrieve the staff so that we can go back to our lives."

Jasmine blinks a few times, kind of overwhelmed by Taxidea's explanation even though she was there when all of it went down. "Um... Yes. That is the gist of it yes."
Xini looks on with fascination as she drinks in every word at the end, she turns to Rikas and says “ come on. We gotta help them. Plus it sounds like fun.” She says with a smile
Rikas eyes blink as he absolutely does not take in all the information. In fact, the only thing he was able to retain, was the bit about going to a tower to retrieve a staff. He leans back against the cart and looks between the group and Xini, before finally giving in. "FINE... FINE FINE FINE! We'll go... But if I die, I'm coming back to haunt you." He says, pointing a finger at Xini. "We don't work for free..." He looks to Xini, then back to the other group. "I don't work for free... If you want our help, we need some sort of compensation... What can you offer us?"
Jasmine offers, "Well... you can have an equal share of any loot we find. It is a goddess's tower so perhaps there is treasure there besides the staff?"
Rikas thinks for a moment before giving in. "Fine." He sticks out his hand for a handshake. "A portion of the treasure for me and Xini here, in exchange for our services."
Taxidea shakes his hand. "Glad to have you aboard!"
Then he lowers his voice so only Xini and Rikas can hear him and murmurs,
"Between you and me, some of this lot aren't likely to make it out alive so that means more treasure for us in the end. But on the upside, the biggest ones, like Xondario there, you know...attract attention - BIG targets - and are great for us short folks to take cover behind."
Then he resumes at normal volume. "Hey Armeros, if I die I'm coming back to haunt you. But not like in a scary, vengeful, 'ooooOOOOOoooo' way, just like in a 'you're cool let's keep hanging out after I'm dead' way."

“Is that so, Badger? I suppose I should be flattered. Haunting me, even in the afterlife? Quite the commitment.”The tieflingchuckles softly, shaking his head. “Though, let us aim to keep you among the living for as long as possible, shall we?”
"Oh yeah - for sure. I'm not planning on dying any time soon - I just meant, you know, EVENTUALLY. But yeah, definitely keep that thought in the front of your mind especially if the bow-bro's show back up."

Xondario looks puzzled as the their journey got retold to the new comers, "I think you forgot to tell them your shoe size, but I sounds like you mentioned Everything else." Truth be told over the months training, Xondario had forgotten a few details.
As they get back moving down the road again, Xondario leans down towards Rikas and says quietly "Did we mention we portion loot based on our size?" He doesn't smile but certainly grinning to himself.
