Chipper smirks at the guard's confusion to Garrick's statement. Chipper looks at the planks, "Seems whatever was in here get out when they heard us coming." He sends Skipper out the window to take a look for tracks.
Inside the room he asks for Amelia's guidance as he looks at the wood, wondering what could've been in there. Investigation: 1+6+1 = 8 //of course the d20 and d4 both decided to nat-1 it. >:(
Making conversation he adds, "About that Z, I don't like what that package she had in mind could've been. Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but she went in with Ireena and I without you. Harboring undead. Vicious ceremonies. What if this baron isn't as against Strahd as we hope? Could she have been the package with a plan to kidnap her later?"
Kessintra nods to Chipper, casually accepting that Z could have been planning a betrayal or that the mayor might be an agent of Strahd. It is just the way of things in places like the Underdark and apparently Barovia.
"True, it was very convenient that she 'forgot' to mention us. Her plan might've gone awry when we were let in so fast, so she abandoned it to avoid a fight,"she remarks while looking about for steal-worthy items as well as any trace of the undead, "As for the baron, I suppose we'll have to pay him a visit to find out."
Garrick can hear a small noise from one of the crates. Then, as Kessintra is investigating one of them, a vampire jumps out. Five more vampires pop out of other crates. Roll initiative.

((@DM Is there a front-of-the-house facing, openable window in this room? In my headcanon Amelia stayed outside to guard Ireena and Ismirk while we came in here, so Kess will yell out the window to let her know that we need a little help -.-;;))
As Kessintra is investigating the crate, she suddenly feels a phantom hand grasp her wrist for a split second. 'Wait,' a distant voice whispers in her ear, and time seems to slow as the half-dozen vampires emerge from their crates. Instinct takes over and she slips past the undead to the window, throwing it open and shouting for Amelia to come join the battle. The cleric's radiant abilities will hopefully be enough to make up for the difference in numbers. She will stay by the window so she can glance out to check on Ireena and Ismirk now and then.
Bonus action: cunning action disengage
Object interaction: Move to and open window
Action: Shortsword on nearest vampire (if in range) to hit 8 + 1 bless -.-; if no vampires in melee range she will take the Dodge action instead.

Without hesitation, she charges into the house, running up the staircase. Holy fury surges and explodes by the time she bursts into the room where the vampires lurk.
“Foul beasts! How did you manage to infiltrate this town?”

Each hostile creature within 30 ft. (that doesn't have total cover) must make a CON saving throw (DC 14) or take 13 radiant damage (half damage on success).

You rush upstairs and find yourself in the wood storage room. Random planks and crates are scattered about the room.

Apologies for my recent inactivity. I’m perfectly fine with the idea that Amelia was staying with Ireena and Ismark—it makes sense for the narrative.
