Mathias 21 initiative, Mathias sings a song about the Dawning Sunlight, burning up the darkness- hero's brandishing the light! (encouraging song since we short rested) giving both Sylvantras and Marion heroic inspiration. "Brandish the light let darkness fall! 🎵"
Marion snapping out of the fearful state, pulls his scimitar and swings, slicing a deep gash in the mummy's side clean through the robe and throwing bits of bone out the other side, his offhand attack ripping through a dangling robe sleeve failing to connect.
Over the sounds of battle the strong voice of the bard Mathias fills the small room, Marion's fear becomes a quick memory and Sylvantras swings with a sudden inspired urgency to finish this battle, his sword slicing into one of the mummy's arm, cleaving it clear for the body and sending it flying across the room. His offhand attack slicing through the now empty robe sleeve.
The mummy turns it's face to Marion, it's empty eye sockets widen in as if it suddenly remembers something, it's strained dry horse voice cutting into the sound of music, that amulet, where did you get that amulet! Hand it over! He swings his remaining hand toward Marion's chest, time seems to slow around you as you all watch the open palmed blow land over Marion's chest with a loud thud, the amulet flares in radiant light but whatever magic it held is too late. Marion is set flying back into the old shelf. It collapses into a thousand dry rotted splitters under his weight. Marion please make a Con save with advantage, DC 12
As Marion falls unconscious in a heap of wood and glass sand the mummy pulls his hand back, Mathias and Sylvantras can see smoke rising from his hand and smell something burning. The two of you may attack with advantage this round.
the flesh beneath your mothers amulet slowly starts to wither and dry out as the mummy rot takes hold, the blow was enough to knock you unconscious, 20 pts of damage, the last thing you see is a flash of light from the amulet. As you slip into darkness you feel the curse being absorbed into the amulet.
You open your eyes to find yourself floating in a dark pool of water, standing there you see an elf woman bathed in radiant light. She speaks to you in your native tongue, calling you by your complete given name. She looks familiar, but you can't place it. Marion my youngest child, now is not your time. Get up, get up and find this shadow man, put an end to the darkness feasting on our land.
Then it hits you, she looks like your mother. Not exactly, older maybe...your grand mother or great even. You remember stories of her, a great priestess of the wood. As you try to speak you slip into darkness.
At the end of round three you will regain consciousness with one hit point.
Sylvantras moves with cat like grace and dexterity, his blades becoming an extension of himself as in one motionless effort he leaps upon the desk, sending the candle flying end over end, casting a flickering strobe like light throughout the small room.
Mathias watches as the images come to him in chopped segments, Sylvantras arms cross his chest weapons in each hand, standing on the desk, the mummy before him, smoldering hand held high to swing at the ranger...then darkness as the candle turns...the light from the candle comes back around...just in time for Mathias to watch as Sylvantras's blades slice from each side of the mummy...the candle makes another rotation, shadows following the light as it moves keeping the head of the mummy within the light as it flys, having been cleaning separated from it's body.
The candle lands, upright, on the other side of the room just as the mummy's head lands on the floor with a thud on the opposite side. It's body collapsing into the chair.
Marion's eyes flicker open, and she groans "Did we win?" She looks around at the aftermath of the battle and sighs in relief. "Good job, guys.Let's just not come in tomorrow.Let's just take a day. Also, thanks, grandma!"

Sylvantras lets out an audible sigh of relief as the mummy's head hits the ground and a second sigh hearing Marion's words. She was alive. Hopping off of the desk, he goes over to his fellow wood elf. "Indeed, we did win."he says, reaching down with healing hands while muttering a brief incantation.

"Taking the day off sounds like a fine idea, but let's see if there is anything else of note here before we go." the ranger says with a somewhat quizzical look on his face, obviously confused by the grandma comment.
Marion remembers something written on the pages on the desk about a shadow man, he picks up the papers and thoughtlessly picks up the candle to better see by.
Mathias, moves to search the drawers of the desk, only to find them locked. After some quick work he springs the simple lock and begins searching.
Sylvantras begins with the mummy, pulling the body and chair away from the desk so Mathias can work.
The pages tell of Bert the Brewer's quest for eternal life. After being visited in dreams by a "shadow man" he made his way to Havel's Cross, led by the shadow man in dreams. Deep in a forest, resting in bog he found the ruin of the temple, there made a deal with the shadow man. Bert would create a poison that affected living plant life and in return be given the formula for an elixir that would extend his life. In the caverns beneath the ruin Bert worked, several weeks later he present the poison to the shadowy figure. His reward in hand he returned to his tower and begin work on his elixir. When finished he drank it, his body twisted and wretched in pain. He had been tricked, he would indeed live forever, as a mummy.
Mathias searching through one drawer and another, most of the contents having long ago degenerated with time. In the last drawer he finds three potion bottles filled with a red liquid, the glass etched with the elven symbol for life on each. Searching through the drawers one more time he finds a hidden compartment, within it, wrapped in silk cloth, a small wooden box shaped item, five inches long, half an inch wide and high. Bringing it closer to the candle he realizes it's a kazoo. He hasn't seen one since his youth. It has a lanyard attached so that it may be worn around the neck.
Sylvantras diligently searches the body of the mummy, finding through a hole in it's chest a bag containing a large red ruby in the shape of a heart, estimated worth 300 gp. Celebrating his find with the others he notices the glint of silver from the served arm laying to one side. He finds a ring hanging loosely on one of the fingers. Thinking it way to small to fit his, he holds to his pinky finger and watches as the size of the ring changes before his eyes to know be a perfect fit.
"Looks like we've got quite the haul here between the ruby, the potions, and the books from the last room...not to mention a lead on something else that needs to be dealt with." the ranger says, before his words begin to slow in amazement. "And...what appears to be a magical ring of some sort..."
In typical bard fashion Mathias begins writing in his journal, Sylvantras the Mummy Slayer also the sad tale of Bert the brewers sour deal. Composing songs in his mind…
Mathias casts detect magic, “Let’s take a closer look at some of these. Perhaps they are more then what they appear to be.”
Mathias sing the incarnation for detecting magic and looks about the room. His eyes fixed to Marion's amulet glowing with celestial magic, the likes of which you've not seen. Next the kazoo, odd, a magical kazoo? Radiating an aura of the enchantment school of magic. The ring next, faint protective energy emanating from the plain silver band. As you roll the ring around and prepare to hand it back you notice the candle, glowing with enchantment energy.
You know the candle to be an Ever Glow Candle, the flame will never go out, it produces no heat and can not set items on fire, but does produce light as a light spell.
The ring is a +1 ring of protection
The kazoo will have to be identified properly though, sorry
**Mathias has the identify spell but does not currently possess a 100gp pearl, otherwise he would cast that as a ritual to learn about the kazoo. Very cool.
It's a Kazoo of Confusion. As a bonus action you play the instrument allowing the player of the instrument to cast the Confusion spell as an action that turn. Resets after a long rest.
"I suppose it's time for us to get out of here, collect our gold and go enjoy a well-deserved evening of merriment and a day of relaxation, right?" the ranger asks.
"We can discuss splitting the spoils in the morning." Sylvantras adds, glancing at the ring.
