Receiving no response, she collects the empty dishes and returns to the back.
As you set at the table the morning wanes on. The armed men finish their meal, stand, stretch and head for the door. There are now just a handful of locals left in the tavern.
Still no sign of Marion. You do recall she was getting a room.
"Well, if we are going to start looking into this shadow man, daylight is burning."Sylvantras says. Noting that Marion has not come down yet, the ranger offers, "I'll go see what's going on with Marion."getting up to go to her room.
Sylvantras leaves the tables, stops by the bar to get the room number and heads up the steps.
Sylvantras
You find the room easily enough and wrap on the door, no answer. You knock again, calling out for Marion. Still no answer. You announce yourself and try the handle, it's locked.
You can return down stairs to ask for a pass key or you can try to force the door. If forcing the door then please make a strength or athletic roll.
Not getting any sort of response and given Marion's weariness from the night before, Sylvantras rushes back down the stairs and goes back to the bar. His tone urgent and worried, he asks of the barkeep, "Please, I need the master key to the rooms. My companion was not well last night and now she is not answering the door. I fear for her safety."
The barkeep yells for his wife, she comes and follows you up stairs. She pulls a hair pick from her bun, waves over the lock and you hear it click. there you go sweety. she stands out of the way.
Sylvantras
You open the door to find Marion, you think it's her, laying in the floor. Her skin dry and taunt over her bones. You can just make out raspy shallow breathing...
"Marion!" the ranger exclaims, rushing into the room. Unsure of what to do, he calls for Mathias and hopefully the priestess, Gwanlynn who Mathias was trying to persuade to join the party.
"Mathias, Gwanlynn, come quick! Marion needs help!"
As he waits for the pair to arrive, Sylvantras goes back to the wood elf woman's side, completely at a loss as to what to do to help her.
Mathias and Gwanlynn hear the frantic calls for help, as do the barkeep, quickly followed by a horrific feminine squeal from his wife who's up stairs as well.
Gwanlynn gets to the top of the stairs, the barkeep fast on her heels. She stops at the door, the barmaid standing opposite it with her hand over her mouth. Gwanlynn looks in to see a body on the floor, it's skin dry and pulled taunt over it's bones, she can just make out shallow raspy breathing. Sylvantras at the figures side, as she runs into the room to check on this person. Gwanlynn please make a medicine check. Then both of you please make an arcana check for me.
Sylvantras can tell this is the result of the mummy rot, you remember the amulet, the one her mother gave her. You don't see it anywherein near her. As the cleric looks her over you can look around for it, please make a perception roll.
"It's mummy rot." the ranger growls. Sylvantras, noticing that the amulet was missing, begins frantically searching the room. "Did anyone notice if she came up to the room with anyone last night?"
“This is horrible! Marion! If the tales are true her condition will continue until she too becomes a mummy! If it cannot be stopped she must be destroyed! Is there any other way Gwanlynn?”
You can quickly tell that Marion is in a bad way. From what you can tell it does look like mummy rot. You think you might be able to stabilize her for a short time with one of your cantrip spells, but you, nor any in the area that your aware of, have the means to save her. To your best guess she'll need a remove curse spell.
I think I can help and stabilize her, but it will only be for a short time. She grasps her holy symbol and says a silent prayer. She holds her hand out towards Marion and casts "spare the dying" I'm sad to say that I can't heal her. I believe that she is going to need the curse removed. Didn't I hear something about her having an amulet that helped heal her before?
Holy light surrounds Marion, her breathing becomes more stable. Other than that her condition seems unchanged. There's no sign of the amulet. Further investigation reveals that any of the spoils from the brewery that Marion may have had all seem gone as well.
Mathias
Mathias will notice the window to the room looks to have been pried open, a bit of black cloth caught on a splinter of the window seal.
You recall the amulet was a gift from her mother and she grew up in a place called the Eldershade Forest. He recalls hearing a song of an elven maiden from the Eldershade, Eldershade of my Heart, that had a line in it about the banks of Lake Sember.
Sylvantras
Sylvantras successful arcane check will let him know that the rot weakens the body, once the body has expired from exhaustion then it is reduced to dust. Gwanlynn's spell has her stabilized for another day or so, the spell will have to be reapplied at some point within the next 24 hrs.

I seem to recall Marion’s amulet was a gift from her mother. Marion mentioned growing up in a place called the Eldershade Forest. Theres a song of an elven maiden from the Eldershade, Eldershade of my Heart, it had a line in it about the banks of Lake Sember, seems we have no time to lose. Let’s bring our dear Marion home.
Mathias is determined that Marion’s best chance is with her family who gave her the lifesaving amulet in the first place.
Unless Gwanlynn believes recovering the amulet is a better plan?
The large man turns upon hearing the music, turns his nose up at the sound and makes for the door.
Still no site of Marion.
After the larger man leaves the barkeeps wife comes back around, ok dearies, all done here? What's our newest hero's agenda today?
Receiving no response, she collects the empty dishes and returns to the back.

Obviously we would be looking for a thief…
