Marion pulls a scant handful of berries from her provisions pouch and murmurs words in old Elvish to them, causing them to grow plumper and their color more vibrant. She also refreshes the glow on her rod and draws her short sword and scimitar before entering the hatch. "Have at ye, scurvy rats!!" she exclaims a bit too loudly as she disappears down the ladder.

Mathias blushes a touch as Marion takes the lead down the hatch, he follows mumbling that they best hope they are not indeed ‘scurvy’ rats as disease and death are truly opposite of a good time…
He pulls his torch & tinderbox on the way down hoping to shine some light on a dark situation.
”Hey Marion bonk one on the head for me too would ya!”
The wooden stairs creak as you descend into the cool, dry air of the cellar, which is infused with the smell of beer and damp...fur? Somewhere in the darkness you hear the scrabbling sound of claws on the floorboards and a faint squeaking noise. The cellar is completely dark save the light from the torch and what is coming in from behind you through the hatch door. You spot barrels and cask of beer taking up most of the floor, making it difficult to see the entire room. The only relatively clear area is towards the far side of the cellar, which has a dirt floor littered with sones and workman's tools. You can make out a hole in the wall there, maybe four feet high and three feet wide.
From the stairs you peer toward the darkness of the hole just in time to see a rat, a giant rat, run from one side of the hole to the other in the light in the cellar.
please make initiative rolls.
(( I'm going to try to use maps for this, if you go to the campaign you should be able to click on launch maps ))
Mathias holds his torch high casts blade ward moves towards the rat in the northwest corner, and calls encouragement to Sylvantras, “Come on let’s trap this one in the corner!” Bardic inspiration d6 for Sylvantras.
*Nice hit, Talomyr!* *If rat is already downed, hold action to attack the next visible enemy* *advance to melee range; Primary 18 to hit for 7 dmg, Nick 22 to hit for 9 dmg* *end of turn*

Seeing his newfound companions seeming to enjoy this vigorous game of cat and mouse fills Mathias with a sort of pride, that he could be a part of it. ‘Now I just need to land a hit myself, surly there are others scurrying about.’ he thinks to himself.
The rat let's out a death gasp as it's sliced up (good job), you hear the scratching scurrying from somewhere in the dark, everyone make a perception roll please - and if it's ok we'll keep these initiative rolls.
Mathias runs at the ones about to bite Marion, quarter staff swings at one a15 to hit for 2 damage and the torch swings at the other 10 to hit (used inspiration) for 1 fire damage.
”Get back you rats!”

Perception check 11 Mathias continues to concentrate on blade ward, hold his torch up high and readies his quarterstaff, “Here mousey mousey.”
Marion looks everywhere and nowhere all at once, lost in the adrenaline rush of combat.
