Ian lights a torch to use against the insects and approaches the body.  “Who is it?”

"Thagakh doesn't know either but Thagakh knows an enemy if he has seen one."

The half-orc furiously swats the flying insects twice with his magical greatsword.

Boghadair lights another torch and tries to swat at the insects as well. 

"Bloody hell!   These bugs are fiesty!"

The combination of sword and torches drive off the insects.  Strangely they have not attacked the body only hovered over it.

Ian moves the body around looking for identification and causes of death. Perception check 16

”what happened to this guy and how long has he been like this?”

Boghadair looks like he is getting ready to bludgeon the body with his torch.

"Careful, mate!" Boghadair says,  "It could be a zombie.  We've dealt with enough undead so far.  Whole countryside could be invested with the blighters! "

Arafiel summons Jester and sends her to do a circle of the wagon and body

"Is that Johnson? I don't like this at all. Stay behind me," Tyrus says. He then pokes the body with Talon. 

"Yeah, Johnson, that guy..."

Thagakh sheathes his weapon after removing the insects from the blade.

"Thagakh honestly can't remember who Johnson is but if the rest of you guys know, this is something serious."

Ian says “ the last time he was around was while we were in the noisy cave.  He was a sneaky kind of guy.  I just figured he got too scared down there and took off.  I wonder if he has been following us.”

After looking closely at the body, Ian notices some puncture wounds on the neck.  The body feels very light to move but has not started to decompose.  He is still wearing the black leather armor from the dragon worshipers.

does Jester "see" anything around (or do i see anything around jester?)

Jester and you do not see anything out of the ordinary.  It appears that Johnson was watching you all from across the road before he was attacked by something.

Arafiel recalls Jester to her pocket dimension

"my familiar didnt see anything around us right now, but i think this happened fairly recently"

Tyrus searches for signs of any recent travel, other than Johnson.

Right next to Johnson’s body are a pair of foot prints the shape of a human’s feet probably wearing boots.  There is no trail leading up or away.  It is like they just came out of nowhere.

"Man, whoever did this to Johnson must have very, VERY long set of legs. Even Thagakh can't split his legs that far when taking a step for others not to notice it."

Thagakh gives his assessment at the clues Tyrus found.

"Teleportation? These footprints come from nowhere. We should press on, and be wary," Tyrus suggests.

"Undead isn't my forte as it were but judging from those holes in his neck and his paleness, and the phantom bootprints, it could be vampirric in nature"

"Undead is one of a blood hunter's experties. Maybe Thagakh can recall something about vampires they told Thagakh long ago."

The half-orc massages his temples to stimulate his brain into thinking.
