 (Depends on how the snake responds to the charm. That happened b3fore tufts freed himself. 

The snake appears nonaggressive at the moment.

Tufts just backs away now that the snake seems more docil.

Hadriana turns back into human form and casts Healing Word on the creature to try to earn its trust for whenever the charm ends. (+7 HP)

The creature looks really confused.

Approaching cautiously, Hadriana will open the ration she tossed earlier and present the creature with the meat jerky since it seems to be carnivorous.

"It's ok," she explains calmly, though it might not understand the language, "We're not here to hurt you or the tree. We just need some Elderwood moss."

Animal handling? to convince it they don't mean any harm: 9 -.-

It looks at the jerky, then looks at the hand holding it, then it looks to Nate as if asking; can I eat her?

”No” Nate says walking towards the creature.  “You may eat the meat but not the living flesh!”

Nate gets in between Hadriana and the tree lizard, “Perhaps I should offer your morsel.”

Hadriana gives a look of disappointment but lets Nate take charge of the jerky. "Ah, not all wildlife is friendly, even to druids," she states as if to remind herself, turning her attention to the base of the tree as she looks for any sign of the moss.

Perception to look for moss: 24

Hadriana sees a pile of moss...just below the remains of three people nested away in the tree.

Davrich starts at the sight.
"What do you think caused that, the tree lizard?"

Hadriana covers her mouth in shock, struggling to regain her composure.

"I-I...can't be sure without further examination. Nate, can you ask our lizard friend to collect the moss please?" She examines the corpses for signs of what killed them, careful not to get too close.

Medicine: 11

They appear to have been slashed apart and then chewed on. Its quite possible that this creature did this.

"It seems as if it was the lizard. Regrettably, I think it's best for us to..." Hadriana has to fight back a tear or two, steeling her resolve. "Remove this creature, for the good of all."

Davrich is hesitant to attack the Lizard, but he knows that it may well have to be done to protect themselves and future travelers.

Nate is quite fearful after seeing the bodies but still interposes himself while the others collect the moss, maintaining his focus on charming this being, and understanding its draconic speech.

Hadriana moves to carefully collect the moss, as well as look for and collect any personal items near the corpses that might be returned to their loved ones.

The creature is memorized by Nate, keeping its focus on him.

After gathering the moss; searching the bodies, Hadriana finds two crossbows, two shortswords, a suit of hide armor, a masterwork shortbow, a signet ring with the image of a flaming hawk, 9gp, 12sp, and eight days of rations.
