Welcome to my homebrew world. I will be DMing this campaign, and I am looking for a party of three level 2 adventurers.
Overview: You were all called apon by detective Iorvensiav to put an end to a criminal organization known as the mob. The Mobs reach is extensive, and they control things such as assassins, gambling organizations, arms dealers, cut purses, burglers, and even law enforcement. Why you answered the detectives call is up to you. Are you his friend? Are you in it for the pay? Revenge against the mob for killing a loved one? Hoping to rid the corruption in your home village? Or do you secretly want to take control of the mob?
The world: I have a homebrew world, and to better connect your characters to it, I will state these regions and their figures so you can integrate.
The south: The south is where this campaign takes place, and is extremely chaotic. Some villages dot grassy fields, and upstarts constantly rise, but fall before they make a name for themselves. Goblin armies March on the right side of the south, and the king of humanity makes his claim in the south, however there are dragonborn and halfling cities. Paladins and clerics can still draw from faith, and druids live in trees or something.
The north: If you were to go for a stroll in the north, you would not encounter a random monster, unlike the south. People train their whole lives for their profession, and people in cities can learn Arcane magic. However, warlords reign here, immensely powerful figures barely controlled by the government, who's evils are ignored. Various kings rule nations here, like the Dwarven king, elven king, dragonborn king. I won't go too deep in the political stuff.
The east: this place is mostly ocean, with innovative gnome cities and cozy halfling villages, and pirates. So many pirates.
The west: If you told someone you came from the west, they would either laugh, or genuinely ask "are you ok?" The west is a wasteland, where civilizations never last past a few months. Even nomadic people like orcs, gnolls, and thri-keen barely survive, and if you somehow did survive the west, you'd know that the only power in that wasteland is held by powerful undead known as Death Lords, but no one else knows about them because who would investigate the west?
As DM, I will do my best to integrate your character into the story and put in NPCs they know, and in terms of character creation, I'm fine with just about anything, but I want to view your character to make sure it's balanced. Also, if you have any questions, ask away.
I am a proud Valenar Elf of the <tbd> tribe. We have lived in the westward wastelands for as long as any can remember. Every day is a struggle to survive. But we do. A few years ago I met Lorvensiav when I was in town when trouble came upon me. I owe him a life debt. While I do not understand his ways, he is very respectful of me and we have formed a solid friendship. He has sent word to me that he is need of assistance. I will go and aid him, my blood brother.
Backstory: Finnian O'Rourke is a former slave, born without a name, raised in the harsh world of crime and punishment. As a child, he was captured by a group of half-orcs who worked for a ruthless Halfling crime gang known as the Clan of the Silver Buckle. Forced into servitude, he was used as a lookout and errand runner, often beaten and bullied, with his worth measured only by his ability to avoid detection during the gang’s illicit activities. At the age of 14, Finnian was caught during a high-profile heist. The robbery went wrong, and Finnian was exposed. His life was forfeit, and he was about to face execution, but a kind-hearted human guard stationed nearby intervened. Seeing Finnian’s youth and potential for redemption, the guard quietly sent him to a monastery of the Monks of the Old Order, far from the reach of the crime syndicate. At the monastery, Finnian was given a new purpose. He was tasked with transcribing and duplicating ancient texts—esoteric works that contained the wisdom and philosophy of the monks. As he copied the scrolls, Finnian began to internalize their teachings, which brought him peace and understanding. His natural mimicry of sounds, including voices, became both a gift and a challenge for the monks, though they slowly accepted him into their fold. Over time, Finnian became a valued member of the monastery, learning the ways of the monks and building relationships with the other initiates. They named him Finnian, as a symbol of a new life and a fresh start. He became known for his devotion, wisdom, and quiet presence, although his ability to imitate the sounds of the world around him occasionally unsettled those who didn’t understand it. Just before his ascension ceremony, when he was to be formally accepted as a full member of the Order, the monastery was attacked. Finnian awoke to the smell of smoke and the sound of metal clashing. Grabbing the nearest object—the ceremonial staff used to strike the bell—he rushed to confront the attackers. But as he rounded the corner, he saw the familiar faces of the Clan of the Silver Buckle, his former captors. They had come to drag him back into the life he had escaped. Terror and guilt overwhelmed Finnian. In his panic, he fled into the night, abandoning the monastery and everything he had worked so hard to build. He ran until exhaustion claimed him, eventually collapsing in the wilderness. When Finnian awoke, he was far from the monastery, though the smoke from the burning temple still lingered on the horizon. His guilt consumed him once again. If there were survivors, how could he ever face them? He couldn’t return to them now, not after fleeing. With a heavy heart, Finnian vowed that one day he would return—to make amends with the monks, to face his past, and to finally confront the gang that had stolen his childhood. But for now, he walks alone, unsure of what the future holds, but resolute in his path toward redemption.
For ruleset, I will focus on using the 2014 version, although you are free to use the 2024 options in Character creation. The starting level is level 2, and if you want to use homebrew, you'd have to run it by me first via private message. For ability scores, you can roll them or use point buy, although you did already roll them and they look good.
Species: Grove Carvan - Reindeer folk (Humblewwod)
Backstory: Peyton, a woman of profound faith, felt a strong calling to serve Hestia. From a young age, she was drawn to the church, finding solace and inspiration in its teachings. After years of dedicated study and spiritual growth, she was ordained as a priest, eager to share her love for her god with others. Now, she travels the world with compassion, offering guidance, hope, and a sense of belonging to all who seek it.
Backstory: In the north, power is everything. There is power in strength, in magic, and even cunning. All that matters is who is triumphant in the end, the winner is given the glory. To succeed, one must prove their own power. So to prove it she shall, Yutari will leave her home for a foe so formidable that her family and all shall recognize her strength. And to herald a new house under her name, to strive for a rule built by her glory. And to topple another's hold, even if criminal, will be quite feat to have.
Hello everyone, DM Here, I would like to Inform you all that recruitment shall close soon, so finalize your characters by then. Due to the various recruitments (Thank you, by the way,) I will be forming two parties, one of which will stay in this thread, and another will be private messaged the link to another.
Thanks for the opportunity, and for offering to DM! Not going to be able to get my character submission finished (and only a couple of half-baked ideas to begin with) so I'm withdrawing. All the best to you and your players!
Alright everybody, I have the two teams. When forming them, I mainly considered how well team classes would work with eachother, so here are the lists.
Team A: GR_Mustang, Galactica monkey, and Virst. We will be beginning the session here.
Team B: Wysperra, Kirby121, and Antlan, a player who private messaged me about joining, will be starting the adventure in a different Thread, which I will private message the link to those involved.
I wish you all the best of luck in this campaign, and we will be starting before the end of the day
