Eltra rides over to the two remaining bandits (15 feet away)and shouts to them "Listen her lads....Drop your weapons and sit where you are. We have some questions for you and depending on your honesty and answers, we will let you live."
The bandits have already dropped their weapons, but they do as you ask, sitting down.
"Please, sir gnome, we don't know anything - we're just... desperate," cries Karl.
Frank, badly shocked from Bree's sorcerous bolt, isn't able to say much. But he nods along with Karl, and manages to say; "Please... mercy."
Feydon scoffs. "Just kill them and let's get back on track. They weren't desperate, they're sadists. Look at that haul. Where do you think they got those instruments from? Did they have instruments on them? No. They KILLED a band of traveling minstrels for shits and giggles, I'll wager. Look at the armor in their cart - how beat up it is. Some merchant's escorts I'd also wager - did you give them a chance when they surrendered, ****wits?" He kicks Karl across the face as he asks.
"What's in the journal? What does it describe? Robbing from the rich and giving to the poor? Stealing just so they can eat?" he spits. "I doubt it. Further - if you'll be wanting to keep that haul, you'll have to kill them and speak of this to no one. I'll do it, if you're unwilling to. Just don't bother with anything heavy, like the damaged armor - or anything that would have to be sold in Crom's Hold. Because don't you think they'll ask why you have all this stuff weighing you down when you came direct from Daggerford?"
Eltra nods to Karl and Frank "Gentlemen, are you a part of a larger operation or was this lot all of you?"
In hearing your question, then Feydon's rant, they both start crying.
Once he's recovered from the kick, Karl sobs. "It was all Todd's idea... he was CRAZY... Meridith couldn't even keep him in check. He killed the minstrels. One by one. Made the other's play a funeral dirge for them as he slit their throats," he sobs uncontrollably. "It was horrible. We were.... scared of him."
Frank had been reduced to whimpering. He's given up hope that he'll live through this. "Just.... make it quick...." he gasps.
Karl shoots him a look. "No! Don't say that! Please! Don't kill me!"

After the Battle, Dawns first priority is to heal everyone. With Hnefa looking the most injured, Dawn has Dusk walk up net to her. "I need to touch you for a moment," says Dawn.
(OOC: Assuming Hnefa doesn't object to being touched)
Dawn reaches to touch Hnefa as she says "Lathander, please cure this persons wounds." There is a glow that moves to the wounds and knits the flesh together again. (Heals 12 HP)
After healing Hnefa, she has Dusk take her to Feydon, where she repeats the healing. (Heals 13 HP)
[OOC: And thats when she's rolling poorly on the heals...]
Only after everyone is mostly healed does she pay any attention to the treasure.

Seeing the bandits beg for their life, and hearing Feydon's description, Dawn expresses her opinion, "It does sit right with me to kill them after offering surrender and accepting it. As for keeping the treasure for ourselves, I think it best to return it to the relatives of those it was stolen from. Thanks to the journal, it may be possible to find them, thought that will be up to the guards to do. The men we can turn over to become criminal slaves. They'll need work hard, but that will spare their lives."
Gus picks through the loot. If ok with everyone he'd like the following: 1 scimitar, 1 light crossbow, 100 bolts, 1 set of leather armour, 1 thieves kit (what's in it!) and just for poop and giggles, the lute.

Feydon looks at you and blinks. It's not going to be his anyway, he's got no skin in the game, so he's not going to argue. But he's confounded by your words nonetheless. When it comes to the men being made criminal slaves, however, he scoffs. "You turn that journal over, they see what this Todd person 'made' them do. They'll hang. Probably by tomorrow afternoon. Not that it bothers me if they do - I'll be there to watch it if there's time, and I'll be laughing the entire time. Not because these fools are gonna die. But because of the expression on your face when you learn for yourself for the first time that your noble intentions are not reflected by our 'betters' - when you learn that your 'goodly' goods of justice, and their mindless worshipers in these bastions of law and order and goodness like Crom's Hold are just as keen on murdering the helpless as the people they condemn are. Maybe more. At least when these fools did it, they gave them a fighting chance. Crom's Hold? They'll hang them while they're disarmed and helpless. Then they'll go back to kicking the lepers and the destitute in the face as they walk by, feeling all righteous and goodly," he spits. "There are no good gods. There are no good people. There is only people with power, and people with out it. The sooner you learn that, the less heartache you're in for, 'sister'".

Once the healing is over, it finally hits Dawn that she's just killed people. They were evil people who deserved death, but she still needs to take a moment to order her thoughts.

Geren reads through the journal while sorting the loot.
He helps himself to a dice set, then turns to the rest of the group, holding up the dagger.
"I'll hold onto this for now if it's alright with the rest of you."
He turns to regard the bandits, then turns to Feydon.
"My companion offered them their lives if they surrendered. Now I didn't give them my word and we've only been working together for a day, but I'm going to abide by that agreement. If they hang later so be it, but a deal is a deal and they've kept their end so far. If they try to escape or fight I'll slit their throats without any regrets, but they live for now. I am a man of my word if nothing else. So when I say I'm willing to make a deal with you in exchange for your full cooperation you can count on me not stabbing you in the back."
He holds out his hand for Feydon to shake if he agrees.
"Our employer gave no specific instructions on returning you for execution or keeping you alive. You help us in everything we're trying to achieve and you get a 24 hour head start before we report your escape at the very least. Give me an incentive to do so and I might be willing to do more. But if you betray us I'll happily hand you over a piece at a time to be the main ingredient in a lizardfolk's stewpot. Or to make it short: Help us and you go free at the end of this. Deal?"

As for the loot....we take what we want and leave the rest unless one of you want to lug it all back and do what you will with it all....Otherwise it should be split amongst those of us who have no qualms pocketing a few things for our troubles.....oh and bring the head of their leader to turn in...might be some reward."

Feydon scoffs. He doesn't shake your hand. "Look, I'm going to help you until they tell me I don't have to. I don't have a choice. I don't know what else you want me to do for you. I just took two scimitar hits trying to save you from these," he looks at the bandits strewn about the meadow. "Fools," he says finally. "I may make recommendations, but your group's majority decision is what I have to follow. It's what I HAVE to follow. You don't need to convince me of anything. I CAN'T betray you. And I CAN'T stay quiet if I have knowledge that will prevent you from harm. Besides, I don't betray people. People betray me." He spits. "As for my freedom," he shakes his head. "I'm afraid that's out of your hands. They did, I'm afraid, make a provision for that."

Karl and Frank exchance glances, a glimmer of hope is seen. "What do you mean.... put us to work? Like... you're slaves?"
Gus looks at the looted gear, listening to Geren as he talks he begins putting the items back.
He then walks over to where Geren is addressing the bandits, " They must be brought in for justice, and the goods surrendered to the legal authorities to be returned to the families. I'll secure them to the wagon and will drive it to town with the goods and journal."
(OOC: you don't have to go that far to the other extreme either... firstly, your alignment is your alignment. You don't have to export it onto everyone you see. Secondly, its not that you can't act out of alignment EVER - it just means you might have an alignment change if you do it enough. It sounds to me you'd be happier being CG or NG anyway. So, go ahead and pocket what you want. It only REALLY matters if you're a paladin, and you're not. Its not the end of the world to go from LG to NG or even to CG - frankly, CG is my favorite alignment to play)
Dawn is very happy to hear that Feydon will get to live when he finishes this mission. It won't be a pleasant life, but he gets to live while making up for his previous crimes.
