Just to let you guys know what's going on: (Chandra I assume you can see all this from a safe vantage point, the guards checked your room and missed you)

Gairlick and Ixalin you're standing near the bottom of the gangplank with a crowd of sailors.  The Captain of the ship is arguing with one of the guards.  The other 2 guards are finishing up their search of the ship.   You can see that other guards are searching other ships, and then moving along down the line, nobody is being allowed to leave the port area without being checked over by some other guards.  You hadn't seen Ashlee since he went to look for Tonk in the crowd.

The guards walked right by Gairlick once or twice and paid him no mind.

“The fact that they picked up Ashlee is very interesting. He’s a half-elf, nothing especially particular about his appearance, and I’m guessing any guard who saw us last night is, well, dead.... except for the two we ran into on our way to the house.... but they saw you, too, right?” Ixalin looks at Gairlik.

“Is there any way we could have this backwards? Maybe they’re looking for certain sailors for some reason?”

OOC: ok, so we can’t see Ashlee but we can see the cart? If so, am I within 120ft?

*You hadn't seen him since he went to go get Tonk, but you did see him just now in the cart. I'd say yeah, you are within 120ft.  And from what you can tell, Ashlee didn't stand out particularly from any other half-elf on the docks.

I’m going to try to cast Message, targeting Ashlee. Ixalin points at the cart and whispers “Ashlee, did they tell you what this is about?”

Ixalin - You hear a whisper in your mind "Ixalin! Is that you? It seems I missed some of the blood I had gotten on me.  Someone on the pier pointed me out to the guards, and now they're taking me in for questioning. Tonk's here too. They have some kind of list of people they're trying to round up, I couldn't get a look at it." 

I relay the message to Gairlik. 

“Hang in there Ashlee, and tell Tonk to keep his cool. We’ll figure something out.”

     "Well, still don't know much else." Gairlik says to Ixalin. "I'm not one for all this sneaking around, so I'm still for just turning ourselves in so to speak. Who knows they may not even want the rest of us." The dwarf looks around for Chandra, not noticing her, he looks back to Ixalin. "I was never much for the planning. These are what I mainly used for negotiating," he pats the axes at his sides. 

“I suppose I don’t have a better plan and we can’t leave Tonk to his own devices.”

Tonk is small, so while this cart may be small to a normal person, it's larger to a goblin you would say, right DM?

If so, Tonk is going to pull his arms back in and go quiet for a minute before turning to Ashlee with a grin on his face. Before Ashlee can do anything Tonk is going to jump on his lap look back at the door where he can see Cap'n and charge at the door and try to break through.

Strength check -> 3 if you want athletics +2 to final number.

Ashlee sees what you're about to do and gives you a push as you jump.

Give another roll since he's assisting you so you have advantage.

I wasn't expecting this but now it has to happen. Tonk slams into the door expecting to fly out like a cannonball. Instead he hits it like a battering ram. Cracking the lock area a bit and then falling to the floor of the wagon.

"Holy shit, it worked" Ashlee says as he stands up and gives the door a hearty kick. The door opens a bit more, but the lock still holds. One more kick and the door flies open. 

OOC: Are the rest of us seeing this?

Yup

Chandra has moved out onto the deck, she's watching the antics for there.

“That complicates matters.” 

OOC: do the guards see what’s happening?

There were three guards searching your ship, two are below deck and one was walking back up the gangplank. He turns around at the commotion and sees Tonk and Ashlee emerge from the wagon. "Hey! Stop right there!" he says and he's running right by Ixalin and Gairlik. 

Chandra you hear the other two coming quickly up from down in the hull.

Ixalin and Gairlik you can also see two guards further down the peir who are coming to investigate the situation.

Tonks captain yells to Tonk "Run Boy!" then to her crew around her, "Tonk needs himself a distraction."  and she punches one of the crew in the head. The rest get the idea and just start fighting anyone they can see.

Chandra runs down the gangplank, trying to keep an eye on Tonk and Ashlee.
Perception: 2

You could see them from up above, but now down at the bottom of the gangplank you lose sight of them in the fracas.
