"Oh, I can take a look inside," Joy says excitedly after a moment, as if just remembering something, "I don't usually try this since I feel bad about prying, but if it's for our safety...Leif, I'll need to use the Token if that's alright." She gives an apologetic look. "They fall apart after a day anyway. But I promise to make you a normal doll to keep once this is over with." (Assuming he gives her the token), she will carefully slip it under the door.
"There. I'll be unable to see or hear anything out here while I'm 'looking', so I'll get out of the way."She moves to about where Corvin was standing and starts the Remote Viewing.
Remote Viewing. If you are within 10 miles of the token, you can enter a trance as an action. The trance lasts for 1 minute, but it ends early if you dismiss it (no action required) or are incapacitated. During this trance, you can see and hear from the token as if you were located where it is. While you are using your senses at the token’s location, you are blinded and deafened in regard to your own surroundings. When the trance ends, the token is harmlessly destroyed.
Once you create a token using this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, at which point your missing part regrows.
Cleo keeps near to the stairs, still feeling deeply uneasy about the whole situation. Her fear only increases when Corvin dashes up the stairs like his tail is on fire. Whatever is behind the door he pointed out, it must scare him very badly. The gnome watches Leif work the door and tries to steel herself for whatever may be behind it. She tries to position herself behind the tall folk of the party, near the rear, so she can fling her spells from range.
Joy lays out her plan for a remote viewing, and Cleo sighs with relief. She was scared for Leif, being so close to the door. This should at least allow them to know what they are getting into by opening the door.
Leif looks up at Joy, "Oh really... O... Okay." Leif pulls the tiny figure out of the top left inner pocket of his tunic, looks at it for a second before handing it back to Joy. 'Aww noooo...' He thinks as she explains. '...fall apart, that's sad, but it's beautiful just like her.'"That's okay Joy. You don't have to do that." Leif takes a step back as Joy does her thing. However, Leif's curiosity and impatience quickly gets the better of him as he waits while Joy is in a trance and cracks open the door (D) behind him to look inside.
Seeing the rather extreme reaction from Corvin when they're about to open the door he indicated, Lusiastarts to worry that perhaps she made a mistake in suggesting Leifopen that door. But then again, time was of the essence, and this was what they came to find out. She finds herself backing up a bit as she waits to see what will happen. Then as Joysuggests some new tactic, she is a touch relieved. She waits anxiously to see what she learns, still on alert for whatever is behind the door.
Joy is still for a few moments before appearing to regain her senses. "It's them," she announces with relief in her voice as she steps forward again, "The people we saved and a few others. They're sleeping, except for an old man. I don't understand what Corvin was so worried about."
Finding the door (D) locked Leif's curiosity deepens as he recognizes there is no keyhole or way to lock this door from the outside. But his attention quickly diverts again as Joy speaks up.
That's all Leif needs to hear before turning back to the door (O) and getting to work on the padlock (16). Once unlocked, Leif opens the door and steps to the side to allow Joy and Cyriel to enter.
Aislingdoesn't understand either. What was the strange elf so scared of? And then there were her patron’s warnings. If the problem isn’t behind that door, is it somewhere else?
She takes a couple of steps back from where she’s standing (next to door C) and glances at the latch (B). What lies in the lower part of the boat? Is Lady Vayla down there? Summoning her unseen servant, the warlock instructs it to check if the latch is closed. If it isn't, she tries to take a look—lighting the space slightly with one of her dancing orbs—and listens for any sounds or movement. (Perception: 10)

Aisling, your servant lifts the hatch (B). You look inside. it is dark but you can see what you would expect for a ship's hold. Ropes, barrels, sail material, crates, sacks etc. It is only a few feet between the tops of the goods and the ceiling. There is only enough room to crawl around.
As Joyseems to have found those the group was looking for, Lusiais relieved. Especially as it seems like the sailor's misgivings are true. Calling out, she says, "Can you guys see the old man Joy mentioned? Can he tell us anything about what's going on?" Nervously, she thinks back to the comment that the Lady was coming. How close must she be now? "We should try to wrap this up quickly."

As Leif steps aside to allow Joy and Cyriel to pass, Lusia speaks up. The young halfling turns to her and says, "I'm not going in there first. Did you see how scared that guy was?" Leif knows it's possible more captives are behind these other doors so he adds, "I already unlocked that door. Someone should check it..." He gestures to the first door he unlocked, "...but I don't see a lock on this third door. Maybe it's barred from the other side." Leif's last sentence is spoken as more of a question than a statement as he points to door (D). He then moves down the hallway to the next padlocked door and gets back to work picking the lock on door (E) (SoH: 17).
As the green-skinned pelorian explains the captives are on the other side of the door, the young perrenish knight takes a step closer to the door and opens it. "Remember me? I have come to make sure you and ze others are not kept here against your vill." He says quietly to the old man. "Please, tell us vhy you are kept here and vhat Lady Valya would vant vith you?" He says in a firm but pleading tone.

Seeing that the hatch (B) holds nothing of interest, Aisling signals her servant to close it and shove a barrel over it ... just in case.
As Leifcontinues down the right corridor, she takes the left, moving cautiously. She presses her ear to some of the doors, straining to catch any sound from within. At the same time, she examines the ones without padlocks, trying to determine how they open. Are they all barred from the inside? Is there some hidden mechanism—or perhaps a magical force—keeping them shut?
All the while, the unseen servant follows her closely.

Aisling, Are you trying to open the doors without the padlocks? They have door handles. Let me know which ones you try to open, please.

Cyriel, You quiz the old man you rescued earlier.
"Why are you here?" he whispers back with disdain.
You look around the room. The five folks you dragged from the water lie around half propped up on the walls in something like you would see in an opium den. Half awake, they say nothing and just look at you with contempt.
A gaunt, pale-skinned man, not one that you rescued, sits atop some sacks against the back wall. He sits motionless and watches you with careful observation.
The two women (rescued earlier) stand up and wander over to the door to walk out.
The young knight gives the old man a confused look. "I just said, I have come to make sure you and ze others are not kept here against your vill. Now, please please please, tell us vhy you are kept here and vhat Lady Valya vould vant vith you?"He repeats, clearly more frustrated now.
Joy steps aside as the two women rise and drift toward the door, watching them carefully but making no move to stop them. They aren’t prisoners anymore—if they want to leave, they can. But something about the way they move, the blankness in their expressions, sets her on edge. As she steps into the room, her hazel eyes fix on the pale man in the back. They didn’t rescue him. And unlike the others, who look dazed and half-lost, he is fully alert and watching them intently.
Her grip tightens slightly on her shield, but she keeps her voice friendly as ever. “Hello there. I'm Joy. Who are you?” she says, addressing the pale man. "Can you tell us why all of you are locked in here, sir? And why everyone seems so...tired except for you?"
